The introduced taxa of Berberis thunbergii DC. are: 'Kobold', 'Erecta', 'Red Pillar' and 'Silver Pillar', they are resistant to drought, frost and noxious substances, do not require special care, only pruning and shaping according to the agrotechnical norms, throughout the growing season. The studied shrubs are particularly showy in early spring, due to the beautiful yellow colour of the flowers, the abundance of flowering, the density of flowers per 20-cm-long shoot, as well as in early summer – due to the shade of the foliage, the shape and size of the plant and fruit and the various colors of the fruits (red, light red, red-purple), the abundance of fruiting, the long period of flowering and fruiting. It is recommended to be used in landscaping in green spaces, in the foreground, in small groups, mixed with other species at the edge of parks and for hedges of different heights.","PeriodicalId":39216,"journal":{"name":"Thaiszia Journal of Botany","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83343506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quantifi cation of ascorbic acid resulted in close amounts (7.11 mg/100 g and 7.81 mg/100 g) in the fruits of the 'Licurici' and 'New big' cultivars and signifi cantly lower amounts (3.11 mg/100 g) in the fruits of the 'Amber Sweet' cultivar. Besides, 'Amber Sweet' goji berries contained the lowest amount of reducing sugars. The titratable acidity was between 0.29 and 0.38%, and the maximum content was found in the fruits of the 'Licurici' cultivar. The quantitative assessment of tannins indicated an almost twice lower content in the fruits of the 'Amber Sweet' cultivar, which are yellow, as compared with the other two cultivars, which have red-orange ('Licurici') and intense red fruits ('New big'). The generalization of the obtained results has revealed that the three Lycium barbarum L. cultivars ('Licurici', 'New big' and 'Amber Sweet'), multiplied by micropropagation in the Laboratory of Embryology and Biotechnology of NBGI and cultivated in the Republic of Moldova, are an excellent source of biologically active compounds and can be used for commercial production as a promising super fruit and organic superfood. At the same time, we would like to mention that the climate of the Republic of Moldova is suitable for the cultivation of wolfberry plants, which are highly appreciated for the health benefi ts of their fruits.","PeriodicalId":39216,"journal":{"name":"Thaiszia Journal of Botany","volume":"25 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72387970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The leaves exposed to thermal shock was determined the relative quantum yield of photosystem II after 6 days of maintaining them in favourable conditions and estimated electrolyte leaks from the leaves. A high level of viability of the yellow leaves was highlighted in the control sample and a partial restoration in them of the relative quantum efficiency of photosystem II after the application of the thermal shock during 20 minutes. It was shown that the yellow leaves (yellowed due to the phenomenon of suffocation at the root level) compared to the green ones had a higher resistance to the action of heat shock. This fact suggests that the state of stress initiated by the asphyxiation phenomenon, determined the increase of the nonspecific resistance of the yellow leaves towards the stress factors.","PeriodicalId":39216,"journal":{"name":"Thaiszia Journal of Botany","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91327083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was established that the installation of the reservatogenic protection regime and the development of the project had major changes in the composition and structure of the seedling and grass cover. This situation has both positive and negative consequences. The positive thing is that the regeneration of pedunculate oak has started. A lot of pedunculate oak seedlings have appeared in the protected area, which gives the possibility to grow a new generation of oaks that in the future could replace the secular oaks that are old. For this, it is recommended to carry out the works of eliminating the elm and maple seedling, which in many areas shades the pedunculate oak seedling. As a result of the appearance of this brood, the protected natural area „Pogoreloe” was transformed from a penetrable to impenetrable state. Based on the situation created, it is recommended to remove the elm and maole seedlings where the pedunculate oak seedling is shaded. It is necessary to thin the thickets of elm and maple, so that the young of these species become less in number in order to have a penetrable state of the protected natural area „Pogoreloe”.","PeriodicalId":39216,"journal":{"name":"Thaiszia Journal of Botany","volume":"76 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85400406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the thermotolerance of tree leaves of the species was investigated: pedunculate oak, sessile oak and downy oak after the exposure of limb foliate samples to thermal shock with a temperature of 59° C for different periods of time. With the help of the electrolyte leakage method, the functional resistance of the leaves to the oak species was compared, not avoiding the avoidance phenomena. Based on the index of relative leakage of electrolytes from the tissues, the functional features of the leaves of oak species, which grow under certain environmental conditions in the Republic of Moldova, were examined. It has been shown that the thermotolerance of oak species changes depending on their biological characteristics and the environmental conditions in which the trees grow. Based on the lethal dose values (LD50), it was established that in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova the leaves of pedunculate oak are characterized by a slightly higher resistance, while those of downy oak show a somewhat higher sensitivity. In the stands in the center of the Republic of Moldova, the resistance of the downy oak leaves has obviously increased and the tolerance of the pedunculate oak ones has decreased.","PeriodicalId":39216,"journal":{"name":"Thaiszia Journal of Botany","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86872962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
