The authors considered what viewers think about the placement of an area in a movie or TV series, and whether this form of promotion contributes to visiting the depicted place. They also sought answers to the question, what could activate these trips? Design/Methodology/Approach: The empirical part was based on pilot survey research conducted using the CAWI method in October 2023. The study was conducted on a sample of 216 adult Poles over the age of 18. It was a random selection. The theoretical part of the article is based on a review of literature on the tourist promotion of the area, mainly set jetting and city placement. Findings: Respondents like to watch movies or series - more than 50% do so daily or several times a week. The Netflix platform is the most popular (78.7%). Nearly 90% of respondents specified that locating the action of a movie/series in a particular place increases the recognition of that area. Thanks to movies or TV series, one can get to know new places; it is a non-intrusive advertisement that positively increases the attraction. 43% of respondents visited a place under the influence of watching a movie/series. An important issue was to obtain information on the elements that encourage set jetting, i.e. visiting an area under the influence of a movie or TV series. It turned out that this was mainly the desire to learn about the tourist attractions of the place (82% answered definitely and rather yes), to participate in events related to the plot (65.28%) or to feel the \"spirit\" of the characters (63.43%). Practical Implications: Set jetting is a relatively new trend in tourism. Becoming aware of travellers' motivations and whether watching series/movies influences their choice of destination can contribute to targeted efforts by local governments. {"title":"Bicycle Transport Infrastructure and the Challenge of Decarbonizing Road Transport in Polish Urban Centers","authors":"Mariusz Pyra","doi":"10.35808/ersj/3320","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.35808/ersj/3320","url":null,"abstract":": Purpose: The main objective of the study is to analyze whether bicycle transport within urban logistics could be one of the elements in response to the challenges associated with road transport decarbonization in the future. Design/Methodology/Approach: The data sources used (CSO, bank of local data, CPB platform) allowed us to apply an analysis of the structure and dynamics of phenomena related to the development and condition of road infrastructure for bicycles in urban centers in Poland. In addition, an analysis and comparison of spatial needs for automobile and bicycle transportation in urban conditions was carried out, as well as a SWOT analysis for bicycle traffic. Findings: ITF simulations have shown that, in the context of urban transport, it's already possible to achieve a reduction of CO2 and other pollutants, and thus realize the objectives related to decarbonization of road transport. Bicycles play a very important role in this context. By nature, they are environmentally friendly and emission-free (noise, pollution), thus, they seem to be an ideal response to the challenges associated with urban transportation in the face of decarbonization challenges. Practical Implications: The problem is issues related to the transformational reorganization of transport networks in cities. Poland's large cities have some advantages over smaller cities in this regard. A partial bicycle infrastructure already exists in large urban centers. In large urban centers, there's already partial bicycle infrastructure, which can serve as an excel-lent skeleton for further expansion and the future transportation network of the city. To achieve decarbonization objectives means that vehicles should be eco-friendly and utilized as efficiently as possible – which from today's perspective means services like sharing platforms or taxi services. Originality/Value: The conducted SWOT analysis for bicycles as a means of transportation in the city on a larger scale reveals that strengths outweigh weaknesses, while opportunities and threats are almost balanced. This argues for the creation of car-free zones in cities and zones with restricted motor vehicle traffic. Bicycle transportation has a large potential for utilization in the urban environment, mainly deriving from the inherent strengths of bicycles as a means of transport. However, external conditions pose a challenge.","PeriodicalId":392075,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN RESEARCH STUDIES JOURNAL","volume":"133 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139331072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The detailed objective is to analyse the activities of the operators in selected markets in the face of the necessity to adapt to changing external drivers. Design/Methodology/Approach: To accomplish the objectives, the following research methods were used, literature review, desk research and in-depth analysis. The author conducted also in-depth interviews. Desk research and in-depth analysis were based on the data collected from the ShipPax Information and operators reports. The interviews were carried out with three shipowners, two of them are ferry companies, the latter operates ferries and pure roros. Findings: Research revealed lack of current publications on ferry and ro-ro business activity in the context of dynamic and changing factors influencing the ferry affecting operators during last four years. Practical Implications: The article emphasizes that there are so many factors that can potentially driver or derail the performance of the ferry industry, at the moment incertitude and caution are the two foremost considerations guiding the forecast. Economic reality will ultimately be the prime factor in the performance of the ferry and ro-ro industry. Current incertitude in the global economic outlook and all its discontents, such as inflation, oil prices and consumer good prices post a threat to the sector Originality/Value: The literature researching the ferry shipping is not extensive, it includes a relatively small number of scientific articles. Most of the research concerns the years before COVID-2019 pandemic which has become the first of negative factors. There are few current studies on the functioning of the ferry and ro-ro sectors, the activity of which for the last four years has been significantly impacted by changes that occurred in the external environment. The article fills the research gap in the ferry and ro-ro sector studies.","PeriodicalId":392075,"journal":{"name":"EUROPEAN RESEARCH STUDIES JOURNAL","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139331138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
