Starting from a futuristic idea, additive manufacturing has shown to be a great tool for rapid prototyping and has found its way into industry as a set of techniques for manufacturing highly customized parts. However, a great number of challenges remain if we are to have efficient and general additive manufacturing systems with high precision, low failure rates, and good strategies for detecting and dealing with part failures. In this paper, the current state-of-the-art on online monitoring and closed-loop control in fused filament fabrication and directed energy deposition with camera and laser scanning is presented. A discussion on the challenges and possible ways of enabling full online part geometry monitoring in AM with articulated manipulators and multi-axis deposition is also provided.","PeriodicalId":391713,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Symposium on Small-scale Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SIMS)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126799979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How to use renewable energy has become the current fashion topic. This paper introduces and simulates the current-voltage, power-voltage characteristic curves of solar cells under different radiations and different temperatures. This article not only analyses the characteristic curves of solar cells under different radiation and different temperatures, but also uses the maximum power point tracking method to determine the maximum power which is in the Standard Test Conditions (STC). The MPPT is used to generate power for the DC generator and to provide power to the hydraulic system. For hydraulic systems, the PID control system is used to precisely control the details of the hydraulic system. Based on the theory of the incremental conductance method, a new change was made in this article, so that the tracking effect of the maximum power point is better reflected in the power-time characteristic curve.","PeriodicalId":391713,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Symposium on Small-scale Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SIMS)","volume":"39 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132693201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to technical challenges economic and social-scientific aspects must be considered, especially regarding the employees' acceptance of change. New digitalization technologies lead to new processes and working methods, which must be presented and explained convincingly, to illustrate the advantages for the entire process chain. A change in processes and working methods is always accompanied by an overcoming of reservations and resistance to change. These challenges, possible solutions and emerging opportunities - especially in the area of 3D model-based product development and production - are described and analyzed in this paper. Also, the necessity of supporting tools to secure the process automation in the field of design and quality assurance is presented.","PeriodicalId":391713,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Symposium on Small-scale Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SIMS)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127418278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, large burrs on large casting are mostly removed manually. Workers are exposed to hazardous working conditions through, among other things, high noise and vibration levels. Special purpose CNC-machines are available for deburring tasks, but they have a high investment cost that makes them unfit for high-mix low-volume processes. Deburring with robot manipulators are seen as a suitable and less expensive alternative, and have been in the focus of research topic for the last 50 years. Unfortunately, it has failed to move from research into industrial applications. One reason is the long system setup time that makes the cost of automatic deburring too high. This paper deals with the status and usage of robot manipulators in deburring applications with a focus on solutions for cast parts. The deburring pipeline and its components are investigated. There is a special focus on the solutions that lead to a more flexible and automatic deburring system by using sensors such as laser, vision and force control. The solutions are evaluated with regards to the current challenges with robotic deburring and what needs to be improved for robotic deburring to become available for high-mix low-volume processes.","PeriodicalId":391713,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Symposium on Small-scale Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SIMS)","volume":"188 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116710302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present how to build a mathematical model of a PV panel by Matlab/Simulink and show different equations, which represent PV panel. In additional to analyzing PV panel output Power in different conditions respect to temperature degree, solar radiation level. By using the designed PV model, we be able to analyze the solar system and know how it will behave before implementing it. Moreover, we present one of the most famous MPPT algorithms (Perturb & Observation, “P&O”) with PV panel, in order to keep a constant value of PV output power. It should enable CNC users to configure CNC systems on their own, combining software and hardware components from different vendors. For machine tool builders it means ability to simply expand an existing automated system or design completely new automation solutions. This paper presents an OpenCNC solution that enables direct servo drive control. The paper shows how ubiquitous communication interfaces and open-source microcontrollers can simplify development of OpenCNC solutions. Thankful to direct control of servo drives this solution offers implementation of improved control algorithms that can include real time data about machine states and machining processes.","PeriodicalId":391713,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Symposium on Small-scale Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SIMS)","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127346722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
