The study focuses on the most recent studies that use e-health and AI technology to help scientists with multiple approaches. One of the fastest-growing technologies is telemedicine. It is worth emphasizing that it is related, unlike, e.g., teleconsultation, to clinical services, and thanks to the use of modern technologies, it allows for the exchange of specialized information in realtime. This allows, among other things, to make a diagnosis remotely. On the one hand, it requires purely technical skills, but there are also aspects related to legal and formal requirements and data security. Studies show that the quality of life of people infected with SARSCov2 has signifi cantly decreased both psychologically and physically. Covid 19 disease caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has been shown to be a complex pathogenic disease with high mortality rates, especially in the elderly, but many serious cases and deaths occurred in young people. The aim of the study was to investigate whether COVID 19 disease signifi cantly affects the quality of life of those affected. The method used for online diagnostics was the EQ-5D-3L Quality of Life Questionnaire and a modifi ed BAT questionnaire. Studies have shown that the quality of life of the respondents was at an average level. Pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression were the most frequently indicated domains. A statistically signifi cant strong relationship between the demographic variables age, gender and morbidity and quality of life after the disease was shown. Similarly, the effects of hospital stays and concomitant illnesses affecting quality of life were investigated. The COVID-19 pandemic caused that many outpatient clinics implement telemedical consultations. It requires from the physician special skills when providing information during a phone call. The negative impact of external factors, poor nutrition, different gene expression during the fetal period with accompanying fetal growth retardation can permanently “reprogram” the metabolism and the course of many physiological processes, causing metabolic complications in adulthood. More and more researchers and theoreticians are considering and verifying the relationship between the early influence of environmental factors and the occurrence of civilisation diseases in the context of nutritional programming. Recently, many researchers have pointed out that the infant years are a critical time for metabolic programming.\u0000The impact of a pregnant woman’s nutrition on the development of obesity, cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome in her child’s later life has been empirically proven. Similar results have been reported for the importance of breastfeeding and also of nutritional deficiencies or excesses in the first 1000 days of the child. This period is particularly susceptible to all the factors that affect the body and builds the foundations of the child’s broader health at present and in the future. The aim of this study is to show, on the basis of an analysis of research reports, that both woman’s nutrition during the pre-conceptional period and during pregnancy, as well as her child’s nutrition after birth, are of crucial importance for the child’s development and somatic health.\u0000\u0000Keywords: child health, feeding, metabolic programming, nutrition, pregnancy.

The study focused on the analysis of pharmaceutical products returned to public pharmacies, with particular emphasis on expired drugs and those returned within their expiration date, along with an economic assessment of the returned products.\u0000The research methodology relied on the analysis of products returned by patients to public pharmacies in the Mazovian voivodeship. The analysis encompassed the content of containers containing expired medications in terms of their expiration date, pharmaceutical form, active ingredient, ATC classification, drug availability category, and monetary value. The analyzed products belonged to various categories, including: medicines, dietary supplements, medical devices, specialized medical foods, cosmetics, biocidal products, and hygiene items.\u0000The study revealed that 75.75% of the returned products were drugs. Among the most frequently returned active ingredients was paracetamol, and prescription medications were the predominant category among the returned products. The most commonly returned therapeutic products belonged to the groups related to the Gastrointestinal and Metabolism, Respiratory System, and Nervous System. The economic evaluation showed that the value of returned products was significantly lower for expired items compared to those within their expiration date. The total value of the returned products amounted to 42 218.07 PLN.\u0000In summary, the issue of medication waste presents a challenge that requires a comprehensive approach, such as public education and the proposal of efficient solutions.\u0000\u0000Keywords: unused drugs, drug wastage, expired drugs.

A stroke is considered a medical emergency. It is an occurrence of brain disorders lasting more than 24 hours. Survivors are likely to be permanently disabled in a variety of ways. It is for this reason that numerous measures have been taken to reduce the mortality and degree of disability of these patients. Rehabilitation is an integral and extremely important part of the treatment of people who suffered a stroke – both ischemic and hemorrhagic. It should be started as soon as possible, because how quickly and to what extent the patient recovers depends on it. Aim. The aim of the study was to analyze and evaluate the deficit of self-care and self-nursing of 100 post-stroke patients at the Department of Neurology with the Stroke Sub-department of the University Hospital in Zielona Góra. Material and methods. A self-study questionnaire was used prior to the study. Results. Among the subjects of the study, ischemic stroke was the most common (84%). Almost half of the subjects had a physical disability that limited their freedom of movement to a minor degree (47%). A significant degree of limitation was reported by 32% of the subjects. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in the frequency of moderate pain reported by individuals after physical rehabilitation that restored their mobility – p<0.000001. Childbirth and its course have a significant impact on a woman’s mental functioning during the postpartum period and motherhood. The mother’s mental state affects not only her child’s life and health, but also the functioning of the entire family. The literature distinguishes several types of mental disorders that occur in the postpartum period, including postpartum depression. Aim. This study aims to determine the incidence of mood disorders in women up to 6 months postpartum. Material and methods. The research was carried out using a standardized questionnaire – the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) – designed to determine the severity of mood disorders in the postpartum period in women at the University Hospital in Zielona Góra. The survey was conducted among 100 women aged from 17 to 43. Results. The results of the analysis showed that in women who noticed mood disorders during pregnancy (n=11, i.e. 11% of the total and n=10, i.e. 10% of the total), there is a possibility of postpartum depressive disorders (score ≥12 points on the ESDP scale) (p=0.0006). Respondents who answered “Definitely yes”, accounted for 42.31% of women who scored ≥12 points on the ESDP scale, and those who answered “Rather yes”, accounted for 38.46%. Conclusion. Respondents, whose pregnancy ended in a physiological delivery (forces of nature), feel more satisfied with childbirth than the other respondents (n=29 – definitely yes; n=24 – rather yes). In women whose pregnancy ended in caesarean section, the level of dissatisfaction with childbirth (n=9 – rather not) or less satisfaction (n=3 – definitely not) was higher than in the other women (p=0.0124). Public health as an academic discipline is taught at different academical levels all around the world. In Poland, the first School of Public Health was launched in 1991 in the city of Krakow, becoming then a part of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. Through more than three decades, this educational entity (Institute of Public Health Jagiellonian University Medical College; IPH JU MC) has educated hundreds of graduates who work for various healthcare stakeholders. Aim. The goal of this study was to find the benefits resulting from studying public health, based on the experiences of IPH JU MC graduates, as well as to characterize the experiences gained and the skills developed during university studies of public health. Material and Methods. Based on 46 interviews conducted with public health graduates, a qualitative analysis was made using NVivo 12 software. Interviews’ content was analyzed with the use of eight codes related to issues mentioned by graduates: EPH (EuroPubHealth), EBM, data analysis, English, project, HTA, practical placement, and students’ scientific clubs. Results and Conclusions. In the interviews the graduates indicated the role of skills gained during education at IPH JU MC, e.g., drawing conclusions based on scientific research, taking part in many public health projects, better language skills thanks to English specialization path, working in the international environment. Air pollution is any chemical, physical or biological agent that alters the natural composition of the atmosphere. It is the cause of many respiratory, circulatory and nervous system diseases, as well as the occurrence of allergies, cancer and fertility problems. Aim. The purpose of this study was to summarize the effects of polluted air on the cardiovascular system. This impact is associated with the whole spectrum of negative effects from additional hospitalizations to premature deaths. Materials and methods. A review of the literature available in the PubMed database was conducted published by the World Health Organization (WHO) and European Environment Agency (EEA). Basic results. Air pollution is a real threat to the cardiovascular system. The human population is constantly exposed to the toxins in the air we breathe from tobacco smoke and fireplace smoking to industrial emissions and volcanic eruptions. It is not just a problem for large metropolitan areas, but a huge global problem. It is worth noting that polluted air is not only outside, but also indoors where we live despite our supposed sense of security. Conclusions. This is a huge problem that cannot be ignored, and a public health challenge. It is important to constantly raise awareness of the magnitude of the problem, take action on many levels and promote prevention to minimize exposure as much as possible and continue to improve air quality.
