This study aimed to find an association of SUD among bereaved individuals based on a systematic review. The research was registered in the PROSPERO platform and the following databases were used: MEDLINE, PsycNET, LILACS, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, and SciELO. The Rayyan software tool was used and this study was performed under the guidelines of the PRISMA protocol. In total, 17 articles were eligible, of which more than 88% showed an association between SUD and the grieving process and almost 60% associated grief and drug use with depression and anxiety. Alcohol was the most used substance. These findings may contribute to future studies on grief and substance use and underlie the elaboration of preventive actions for drug use.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research has a cross-sectional design, and we evaluated 419 older adults. Morbidities were assessed using a dichotomous question; self-reported health and satisfaction with life were assessed using a 5-point Likert scale; and sense of purpose was assessed using the Ryff and Keyes 10-item scale. An analysis of structural equations was conducted using Path Analysis. The relationship between morbidities and overall satisfaction with life was mediated by self-reported health; purpose in life mediated the relationship between self-reported health and overall satisfaction with life. Beyond managing chronic illnesses, subjective assessments of health and well-being are key to successful aging.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to evaluate whether the media can influence changes in body image regarding weight concern, satisfaction and dysfunctional investment of one’s own appearance in female runway models and non-models. This survey was composed of Brazilian women, models who were linked with an agency, and non-models. Data collection was carried out using Google Forms, sending links to invite eligible subjects. In total, 102 models and 247 non-models participated in the survey. Sample Characterization Questionnaire, weight and height reports for the Body Mass Index, Sociocultural Attitudes Toward Appearance Questionnaire-3 (SATAQ-3), Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire - Appearance Scales (MBRSQ /AS) and Appearance Schemas Inventory - Revised (ASI-R) were used. The result showed that non-models are more susceptible to pressure from the media and that having body measurements considered ideal, like models, reduces social pressure on the body.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to gather evidence of validity for the Job Crafting Hierarchical Scale in Brazil. Study sample consisted of 675 Brazilian workers of both genders, aged between 18 and 82 years. Confirmatory Factor Analysis pointed out that the 18-item model, divided into four reflective factors (increase in resources, increase in challenging demands, reduction in demands, and optimization of demands) and one formative factor (job crafting) presented the best adjustment indexes. Results showed a positive correlation with work engagement and a negative correlation with work exhaustion. In conclusion, the instrument presented psychometric properties that recommend its use in future investigations on job crafting in the Brazilian context.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to: (1) analyze the perception of family members about the experience of living with and caring for children and adolescents with depressive disorder; (2) identify the resources mobilized by families to respond to the demands of child and adolescent depression. Data, collected by interviews with 26 family members of children/adolescents linked to two Care Centers, were subjected to thematic analysis. The results showed the perception of family caregivers regarding the depressive disorder, to the child and to family life, and suggest religiosity and the nuclear and extended families as resources they use the most. Therefore, there is a need for professionals to expand assistance to all those who live with children/adolescents with depression, since this disorder impacts family life.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific objectives are to investigate their evidence of content validity and internal structure-based validity and reliability estimates. The questionnaire was adapted for remote teaching in the first stage of the research. The questionnaire was, then, evaluated by three judges and 12 students, whose results evidenced the content validity. Subsequently, 319 students answered the questionnaire. With confirmatory factor analysis, a plausible model was identified, containing five factors (Institutional, Social, Study, Personal-Emotional, and Career Planning), indicating validity based on the internal structure. Additionally, the questionnaire showed adequate accuracy indices (ω >.85). The practical implications are traced, and we also suggest for the questionnaire to be adjusted for the hybrid teaching modality.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to explore the temporal stability of the Zulliger test in Brazilian adults. A total of 20 participants, aged 18 to 59 years, answered a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Zulliger in Comprehensive System (ZCS). Data collection took place from 2009 to 2019 (Test) and in 2021 (Retest). ANOVA did not show differences between the values of 90 (99%) ZCS variables analyzed between test and retest; 68% of the variables showed agreement between 0.40 and 1.00, and 18%. Reflex responses; human movement, animal movement; weighted sum of color responses; sum of animal+inanimate movements; mixed determinants; art and clouds contents; Responses to card I; felt stimulation; cooperative movement; sum of critical special codes; degree of control and stress tolerance denoted high and excellent stability levels intraclass correlation coeficiente (ICC≥0,70). The ZCS demonstrates temporal stability, reliability, and psychometric properties that support its safe use.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Se utilizó como material biológico, 887 de poslarvas de T. rivulatus después de 25 días de poseclosión. Se controló la calidad de agua (temperatura, oxígeno disuelto y el pH). Antes de cada alimentación se sifoneó para eliminar restos de alimentos hubo y se recambió el 90% del volumen de agua en todos los tratamientos. Se midió el crecimiento (longitud total) con una regla milimetrada (precisión ± 0,01) al principio y final de la fase de experimentación. La supervivencia para cada tratamiento experimental ante el suministro del alimento vivo fue: T2 = 99,66% > T1 = 98,97% > T3 = 97,63%. A los 21 días las poslarvas mostraron una longitud total promedio de 21,6 ± 0,51 mm, mientras que a los 45 días la longitud total fue 30,53 ± 0,52 mm. Se halló una diferencia estadísticamente entre la longitud total a los 21 y 45 días: t = -47,80 y valor de p = 0. La descripción la longitud total poslarvaria de T. rivulatus en condiciones controladas indicó, que la alimentación con Daphnia pulex Linnaeus, 1758 + copépodos presentó la mayor mortalidad. Se observó, atragantamiento en los individuos muertos. Asimismo, a medida que aumentó lo días, hubo crecimiento en las poslarvas. Se concluye, que el tipo de alimento vivo no influyó en la longitud total de las poslarvas de T. rivulatus y, a partir de los 45 días el crecimiento fue significativo.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90818694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study evaluated the possible efficacy of using advertising pieces containing the hypocrisy paradigm, the contrast principle, and moral disengagement mechanisms to prevent and reduce violence against women. We conducted two studies which included exclusively men as participants. Study 1 (n=400; M age =21.69; Me=20.00; SD=5.79) used traditional pieces on violence against women, manipulating only their moral disengagement phrases. Results suggest that the phrase combined with traditional images is either ineffective or has a rebound effect. Study 2 (n=303; M age =21.38; Me=20.00; SD=4.94) manipulated the image in Study 1, showing more effective results regarding hostility. However, physical aggression showed no significant differences. Finally, some pieces generated a rebound effect, increasing participants’ self-perception of aggression. The use of advertising can act as an ally or an enemy of public policies if their effectiveness lacks proper testing.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to understand the perceptions of adult men, with higher education degree or higher education students, on this type of violence. Using Bandura’s social learning theory, a qualitative study was developed with 13 men. The data were collected using remote semi-structured interviews. The analytical process used thematic analysis presuppositions. It was found that men do not agree with sexist ideals that can increase the rates of violence against women. However, participants oscillate between understanding women as victim and as guilty. The data may be a reflection of the current greater debate on issues related to gender equality. We conclude that it is important to invest in the multidimensional training of men to break with hegemonic masculinity, which can foster the struggle against gender-based violence.","PeriodicalId":38841,"journal":{"name":"Paideia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67229555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
