The best-known one of such models is the axiomatic model called the abstract evolutionary algorithm. In this paper, we first introduce the definitions of the abstract selection and evolution operators, and that of the abstract evolutionary algorithm, which describes the evolution as an abstract stochastic process composed of these two fundamental abstract operators. In particular, a kind of abstract evolutionary algorithms based on a special selection mechanism is discussed. According to the sorting for the state space, the properties of the single step transition matrix for the algorithm are analyzed. In the end, we prove that the limit probability distribution of the Markov chains exists. The present work provides a big step toward the establishment of a unified theory of evolutionary computation.","PeriodicalId":385362,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings Fifth International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Multimedia Applications. It realizes the complex global numerical optimization via agent-agent interactions. All agents are fixed on a lattice, and they will compete or cooperate with their neighbors to increase their own energy. On the other hand, agents can also increase their energy with knowledge. In experiments, 4 multimodal benchmark functions are used to explore the effect of problem of problem dimension on the performance of MAGA. The results on functions with 20/spl sim/10,000 dimensions show that MAGA obtains good performance in solving high dimensional functions. Even when dimension is as high as 10,000, MAGA can still find high quality solutions with very low computational cost.","PeriodicalId":385362,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings Fifth International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Multimedia Applications. The data mining technology normally adopts data integration method to generate data warehouse, on which to dig the relation rules, cluster characters and get the useful module prediction and knowledge evaluation. For Web data's semi-structure and heterogeneous (mixed media) character, the Web mining technology is different to the pure mining based on database. In this paper we introduce a multi-agent cooperation module, which play as knowledge crawler, exaction machine, generalization machine and analysis machine. Through the communication between multi-agent system and agent naming server, these agents acquire useful knowledge.","PeriodicalId":385362,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings Fifth International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Multimedia Applications. Color is a useful piece of information in computer vision especially for skin detection. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for skin segmentation and facial feature extraction. The proposed skin segmentation is a method for integrating the chrominance components of nonlinear YCrCb color model. The goal of skin detection is to group pixels to form possible face candidate regions and then use connected components analysis for pixels grouping. In order to detect the facial feature in scale invariant, the possible face candidate regions will be normalized, and then texture information in these regions will be segmented by means of mean and variance of face region. Edge will be detected using the method based on multi-scale morphological. Eye will be located by the PCA edge direction. The others feature, such as nose and mouth, also located using the geometrical shape information. As all the above-mentioned techniques are simple and efficient, the proposed method is computational effective and suitable for practical applications. In our experiments, the proposed method has been successfully evaluated using two different test datasets. The detection accuracy is around 98%, the average run time ranged from 0.1-0.3 sec per frame.","PeriodicalId":385362,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings Fifth International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Multimedia Applications. But currently, most of description methods of multimedia document, such as MPEG-7, have some shortage in providing the description of content information in different layers and different granularities. In this paper, we locate the content information of the multimedia documents into three proper layers and define MDU (Multimedia Document basic Unit) to collect this information in different granularities. And then, we also discuss the relationships among MDUs. Combining the discussion above, we can formalize the presentation of the multimedia documents. An example is provided to explain how to use this presentation method, and we also compare this method with related works.","PeriodicalId":385362,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings Fifth International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Multimedia Applications.
