A correction comes from the comparative analyses of the thoughts and historical deeds of two outstanding Asian leaders. In the XX century, Mahatma Gandhi and Deng Xiaoping substantially influenced public thinking and behaviour as well as the institutional framework in India and China respectively. Their achievement is efficiently channelling the national collective action towards gaining the independence of India and the acceleration of Chinese modernization. Both leaders have some similarities and much more differences in their programmes and practical activities. Gandhi and Deng are eager to foster a full-scale transformation of Indian and Chinese societies and to mobilize the active support of millions for societal transformation. However, Gandhi asks for the support of the Hindu traditional religion while Deng orients his intellectual strategy and practical activities on the principles of civic religion. Gandhi relies on his inventiveness and charisma while Deng searches for support from political organizations and the state. The conceptual framework of social actors, relations and processes guides the systematic analysis of structures and actions in the transformation of Indian and Chinese societies.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114006895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper employed a descriptive research design and was conducted at Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) in Philippines from February to September 2022. The result shows that the married professionals are young adults, from small households, with long experience working in OMSC and household income above the poverty threshold. In addition, the majority of married professionals have a high level of knowledge of financial literacy, they have financial plans and practice savings as cash in the bank. Further, the financial decisions in the household are done by both the husband and wife and they neither agree nor disagree on the problems encountered in financial management. Moreover, this study provides insight into the views and challenges of married professionals in financial management. The findings of the study will serve as a guide for partners to avoid arguments about handling finances and will aid them to reach their financial goals more easily. Hence, this could be served as an additional reference for married professionals’ efficiency in household resource management.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123467452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is noteworthy that the proposal Reverse side of Tourism deals with the intention to consider the underlying plot of Tourism understood as Tourism-Weave-Ecosystem, arising from transdisciplinary propositions, guided by assumptions of contemporary science, ecosystem and complex, being in constant movement and reinvention. Craftsmanship corresponds to the proposal of production oriented by craftsmanship. This perspective is marked by a mode of production with some singularities, linked to the idea of careful and personalized production, using existing resources, with a close link between producers and consumers, and without a close link with production technologies. The proposal of this text is related to the production of “com-versations” with residents of Torres/RS, methodologically oriented by the confluence of the Epistemology of Journalism and the Ontology of Conversation, by Maturana (1988), in addition to the methodological strategy Cartography of Knowledge (Baptista, 2014), which also guides the development of the research. The theoretical-conceptual tracks are composed of the understanding of complex Science, holistic and ecosystemic, with authors such as Capra (1997; 2020), Morin (2005), Crema (1989), Santos (2003), Deleuze and Guatarri (1995). Regarding the universe of knowledge in Communication, Medina (2006), Marcondes Filho (2008) and Lima (2009) stand out; in relation to the universe of knowledge in Tourism, the authors: Beni and Moesch (2017), Gastal (2002), Yázigi (2001) and Baptista (2019; 2020a; 2020b). The idea of Craftsmanship is guided, mainly, by the understanding of “producing to live” (Santos, 2002). In association with the “com-versations”, it proposes a reflection on the production of knowledge and practices, in this case, tourism. Also, as a result, the importance of “com-versaitions” places and subjects for the development of Tourism guided by ecosystem responsibility, considering its characteristic plot and (re)cognizing its reverse side as potentiality, stands out.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"17 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125787469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to investigate the effects of the Human Development Index on public health with particular reference to the under-five mortality rate in Iran. As a method a descriptive-analytical method including ordinary least square regression analysis was used to identify the causal relationship between the human development index and the under-five mortality rate during the period of the study (1987-2017) in Iran. The results show that there is a negative and meaningful relationship between the human development index (HDI) level and the under-five mortality rate. Moreover, the control variables including inflation rate, unemployment rate, and income distribution inequality index showed a positive and meaningful impact on the under-five mortality rate. Given that human capital is considered the engine of economic growth and development, it can be concluded that any increase in health expenditures through improvements in human capital inventory leads to increased economic growth, increased life expectancy, and decreased under-five mortality rate.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127950706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given the importance of this phenomenon, the purpose of the following research is to analyze the tourism-heritage impact of the UNESCO organization within a specific World Heritage Site. In this case, the study is focused on The Palmeral of Elche (Alicante, Spain), an oasis-type irrigated agro-system recognized as a Cultural Site by UNESCO in 2000. To carry out this analysis, a theoretical review and a qualitative methodology have been implemented. The techniques used were participant observation, creation of thematic mapping, and in-depth interviews with different social agents linked to this cultural landscape from the Al-Andalus period. As a conclusion, possible responsible and sustainable actions have been determined within the social, heritage and tourist framework.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133998923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodological path followed started from the choice of two narratives -in Portuguese- of the short story Cinderella, with original publication by Grimm (1812), one of them available on web pages, and one of them found in the Tell Me Collection (2020) of the Ministry of Brazilian Education. These narratives were compared to the book Pumpkin, which reread the short story Cinderella in order to welcome LGBTQIAPN+ diversities. Thus, it was noticed how the traditional narratives of fairy tales, often used in educational contexts, perpetuate gender stereotypes, and how the rereading of these tales can help in the resignification of such stereotypes.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129435928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The place, in addition to serving as a bath for tourists and residents, is also a complex that involves the sale of local products, a playground for children to have fun, an amphitheatre, a hiking trail, and a skating rink, being frequented by people of all ages, sex and social status. Therefore, the general objective of the study involves the analysis of the feeling of belonging and the memory of the Manaus population, based on signs resulting from the link with Ponta Negra beach. As specific objectives, we seek to present historical aspects of Praia da Ponta Negra, reflect on the memory and belonging of the manauara[1] population in relation to the beach and describe if there is a feeling of belonging and bonding of the manauaras with the Ponta Negra beach. The methodology of the research can be classified as transversal, qualitative and quantitative in its approach. The objectives are exploratory and descriptive, and the object of the study is a non-probabilistic sample, where the data collection will take place through direct observation, in addition, the field research will be carried out within the manauara population with questionnaires via open and closed interviews. This study found that there is a feeling of belonging and that people have strong memories concerning the place, shaping a little of their personality and experience with each other.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"361 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132555266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The text is a partial report of a study being carried out, at the Master’s level, in Tourism and Hospitality, in association with other broader studies which have been held at a Research Group, from the University of the South of Brazil. The Cartography of Knowledge (Baptista, 2014) was used as a procedural, complex and systemic methodological strategy, in which four investigative tracks are activated: Personal Knowledge Trail, Theoretical Knowledge Trail, Production Plant Trail, and Intuitive Research Dimension Trail. It is consistent with the orientation of qualitative and multi-methodological research, having been carried out from multiple investigative procedures: bibliographic survey, interviews via Google Meet and phone calls, seminars and rounds of conversation, as well as data collection from websites, blogs and social networks. The study demonstrates the importance of raising awareness among hosting companies regarding ecosystemic responsibility, that is, the set of actions related to the care and preservation of resources, aiming at the well-being of the entire ecosystem. It is noticed that there is a lot of work to be done in this sense, since, in general, guests choose the means of accommodation considering cost and benefits according to their economic possibilities. While hosts’ main concern is about offering the kind of hospitality that guarantees the guest’s return to the lodging, based on the disclosure of the benefits offered at the time of booking.","PeriodicalId":383987,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Social Sciences: Transformations & Transitions","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130156044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
