It presents the best-known types of Kuchi jewellery, the way it is worn, the most commonly used materials for its production and the most utilized jewellery techniques. With respect to the date of origin, the focus is mainly on the second half of the 20th century, but also on the present, with regard to the growing trade in these types of jewellery. For a more comprehensive illustration of design, material and jewellery techniques, a collection of jewellery from the 20th century and the present from the collections of the Náprstek Museum in Prague and a private collection was examined. The X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy was used to find out the elemental composition of the materials used in the making of the jewellery.","PeriodicalId":38203,"journal":{"name":"Annals of the Naprstek Museum","volume":"40 1","pages":"27 - 48"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43300720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After leaving the gymnasium in Děčín in 1958, she studied classics and Bohemistics at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University Prague 1958–1963, where she also finished her post-gradual studies and became PhDr. During her post-gradual studies and after (1966–1998) she worked as a researcher at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences at the Institute for Classical Studies. Since the 1960s, her research was focused on ancient and medieval theatre studies, theatre theory and history, and the translation and interpretation of ancient drama. Between 1971–1981 she helped to establish along with Václav Königsmark a samizdat magazine Dialog which reviewed theatre plays and supported many of the academy workers interested in theatre studies with publishing. In 1994 she finished her habilitation and since then lectured at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, where she also remained as Professor Emerita until her last days; meanwhile between 1998–2006 she was also employed at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University Prague. In the same year she began working for Charles University Prague, 1998, she was named Professor. During her academic career she has attended research fellowships, lectured at international conferences, and published her research in various journals both abroad and in the Czech Republic. She supported theatres to perform ancient plays from ancient Roman and Greek authors; for example, she co-operated with Divadlo v Dlouhé and wrote critiques on many stage plays. During the 1990s she also created the database www.olympos.cz, a database of ancient performances. She published many editions of ancient poetry and dramas, composed many monographies on the same topics, and participated in the staging of many ancient plays. Her books, despite their high academic level, were also friendly for every-day readers. Included among her important publications are the following: Řecké divadlo klasické doby, 1991; Římské divadlo, 1993; A co když je to divadlo? Několikero zastavení nad středověkým latinským dramatem, 1998; Divadlo za časů Nerona a Seneky, 2005; Antické divadlo, 2005; Co je nám po Hekubě? 2012 etc. DOI.10.2478/ANPM-2019-0011","PeriodicalId":38203,"journal":{"name":"Annals of the Naprstek Museum","volume":"40 1","pages":"3 - 4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44849815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis focusd on the perspective of geography and chronology, originator and the type of photographic material in question. The unpublished travelogue “Present-Day Mexico”, complemented with the author’s short texts and other archive materials from Nykl’s estate, served as the initial material for this study. This has resulted in a colourful and multilayered picture of the Mexican society in the 1920s as well as Nykl’s complex personality. After over 90 years, his analyses of the contemporary situation and estimates of the future development of Mexico provide an opportunity for an interesting comparison with the present state of affairs.","PeriodicalId":38203,"journal":{"name":"Annals of the Naprstek Museum","volume":"40 1","pages":"26 - 5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45589488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taidong County is the region with the most distinctive aboriginal communities in Taiwan. The research attempts to identify the actors behind the operation of such centers and their significance for aboriginal communities. The research investigates the process of selecting suitable location for the facilities, the specific features of such centers, the potential religious significance of the locations including the role of traditional beliefs in predominantly Christian aboriginal communities, the symbolic value of structures built in the traditional style for construction of ethnicity and financing that enables the construction of the facilities and the organization of the festivities held in them. The principle research method used was interviews with local actors including local representatives, organizers of festivities, as well as members of local communities. The research began in 2017.","PeriodicalId":38203,"journal":{"name":"Annals of the Naprstek Museum","volume":"40 1","pages":"121 - 125"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47664716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study draws on field research conducted by the authors in the village of Kambot in East Sepik. The authors divide the storyboards into two groups based on content. The first includes storyboards describing daily life in the community, while the other links the daily life to pre-Christian religious beliefs and views.
