Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The research sample consisted of staff in healthcare facilities who took care of patients / clients, and underwent supervision (n = 234). The McCloskey / Mueller Satisfaction Scale and Manchester Clinical Supervision Scale questionnaires were used. Results: In the case of job satisfaction, a statistically significant correlation was demonstrated between the effectiveness of the provided supervision and level of job satisfaction. When comparing selected demographic characteristics, a significant difference was demonstrated between satisfaction with supervision of psychiatric staff and hospice care staff. No statistically significant difference between the groups of respondents was demonstrated in satisfaction with supervision according to level of education. Conclusion: Our research demonstrated a correlation between satisfaction with supervision and job satisfaction. Satisfaction with supervision, in turn, depends on the workplace of the respondents. It is important to further educate staff in this area and promote the benefits of supervision in nursing practice.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48098308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: A quasi-experimental study. Methods: The study sample was composed of 50 older adults from the Geriatric social club in Zagazig City, randomly assigned into two groups. The reminiscence group received ten one-hour weekly sessions and the control group received only the routine club program. Preand post-intervention assessments were made using a self-esteem scale and emotional well-being dimensions (mental health continuum, emotion regulation, and satisfaction with life scale). Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests, an Independent-samples t-test, and a paired t-test were used for data analysis. Results: The study findings showed that the group reminiscence therapy led to statistically significant improvements in reminiscence group self-esteem and all emotional well-being dimensions compared with the control group (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Group RT is effective in increasing self-esteem and improving emotional well-being in older adults. The study provides evidence to support the idea that reminiscence therapy is an effective and safe nursing intervention for improving older adults’ psychological well-being.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44646708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: An analytical cross-sectional study. Methods: A group of 226 pregnant women completed the study questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed based on the basic health research questionnaire from the Ministry of Health, Indonesia, and the Navigating Pregnancy during the COVID-19 Pandemic article from UNICEF. Results: Of the 226 pregnant women, 122 (54%) had poor knowledge related to COVID-19 and negative attitudes regarding health protocols for COVID-19 (79.6%). Most (n = 189;83.6%) experienced anxiety;however, this did not affect their intention to use healthcare services. Utilization of antenatal care services during the pandemic was associated with antenatal care visiting behavior (p = 0.000) and access to healthcare services (p = 0.000). The most significant predictor of utilization of antenatal care services during the pandemic was antenatal care visiting behavior (p = 0.002;OR = 5.904). Conclusion: These findings provide important information on maternal healthcare provision during the pandemic in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47039284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: A specially designed questionnaire was used to explore subjective perceptions of previous births. We also used the standardized questionnaire of birth-related fear (W-DEQ). Descriptive statistics and the ANOVA test, chi-square test, and Student t-test were used. The research group consisted of 111 pregnant women with a mean age of 31 (± 3.58) years. Results: Most women preferred cesarean section as a mode of delivery (63.1%). Women who preferred cesarean section less frequently considered experiencing every stage of the birth to be an advantage of vaginal delivery. They more often perceived pelvic floor damage as a disadvantage of vaginal delivery (p = 0.000), and shorter delivery time as an advantage of cesarean section (p = 0.048). Significant fear of childbirth was confirmed in 25.2% of respondents. We found statistical significance between cesarean section preference and increased fear of childbirth (p = 0.05). Conclusion: Focusing on the impact of childbirth on the psychological state of a woman, should be one of the priorities of midwives to reduce fear of subsequent labor and prevent serious mental health","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49264739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: A series of cross-sectional school questionnaires. Methods: Data were obtained from an international study of Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) on a representative sample of Slovakian schoolchildren through an anonymous standardized questionnaire to assess the health-related behavior of adolescents. For the analysis, we used data from 15-year-old adolescents from 2006 (n = 1,252), 2010 (n = 1,568), 2014 (n = 1,549), and 2018 (n = 1,293) regarding their experience of sexual intercourse and use of contraceptive methods. Results: During the observed period, there were no significant changes in the prevalence of sexually active adolescents, except for an increase in 2014 (11.7% in 2006; 12.1% in 2010; 16.1% in 2014; and 14.3% in 2018). The most frequently used method of contraception was a condom, which was used by 42.4% of sexually active respondents in 2014, and as many as 74.5% of sexually active respondents in 2010. Hormonal contraception was used by 3.3% of sexually active girls in 2006, compared to 23.4% of sexually active girls in 2010. Conclusion: The results showed that the incidence of early sexual intercourse in Slovakian adolescents did not change significantly during the period 2006 to 2018, and the situation remains relatively favorable compared to other European countries. On the other hand, there was insufficient use of contraception in sexually active adolescents.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42587813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: Literature review. Methods: The review was conducted using Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, ProQuest, and Google Scholar from 2009 to 2020, based on PRISMA guidelines, and Mesh keywords. All types of studies reporting on the subject of the research were included, excepting case reports. STROBE and JBI checklists were used to assess the quality of studies. Sixteen studies were included in this literature review. Results: Fear of complications during vaginal delivery was the most frequent maternal reason for elective cesarean section. Fear of physical injury to the infant during vaginal delivery was the most frequent neonatal reason for elective cesarean section. Birth experiences of family, friends, or relatives was the most frequent social maternal reason given for elective cesarean section. The most common advantage of cesarean section was reduction in neonatal injuries. The incidence of maternal wound infection and risk of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome were the most common disadvantages of cesarean section. Conclusion: Identifying the reasons for cesarean section on maternal request can help create a more precise roadmap for increasing awareness in women of the advantages of vaginal delivery, preventing prenatal complications, and reducing costs in healthcare systems.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42654163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design: A qualitative descriptive design. Methods: Semi-structured interviews with eight participants were used to collect empirical data. The mean age of participants was 50 years. On average, participants were 21.9 years after diagnosis. A thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: 21 sub-themes emerged from thematic analysis, which were grouped into four interconnected themes: Identity change and coping; Quality of social interaction and relationships; Living with the symptoms of the disease; and Violation of a fully-fledged life. The results indicate that MS can undermine patients’ dignity and identity. Living with the symptoms of the disease impairs their quality of social interaction and relationships, their lives become restricted, and they must cope with a changed identity. Acceptance of the illness, a spirit of resistance to its effects, and a sense that they can still be of use help patients maintain dignity. Conclusion: Knowing and understanding the themes that patients with MS associate with dignity, can significantly help healthcare professionals to maintain and promote it in nursing care.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46546136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to predict socioeconomic status (SES) and obstetric factors towards anxiety and stress-coping strategy, and to explore the significant differences in levels of anxiety on each coping strategy. Design: It was a cross-sectional survey in the Malaysian context. Methods: Forty women medically diagnosed with HG were recruited and completed Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) to assess generalized anxiety disorder and coping scale inventory using the Brief COPE questionnaire. Results: The employment status of pregnant women diagnosed with HG significantly predicted their anxiety. Household income and education level predicted emotion-focused coping strategies. None of the obstetric factors predicted the coping strategy. A significant difference was found across anxiety levels in problem-focused and dysfunctional coping strategies. The post-hoc test reveals that dysfunctional coping has the highest mean score in the severe anxiety category. Conclusion: It is essential to promote awareness about effective coping strategies for pregnant women who are diagnosed with HG. Greater efforts are needed to increase the duty of care among healthcare providers to propagate holistic and resourceful coping management with the HG that could help potential patients in the future.","PeriodicalId":38129,"journal":{"name":"Central European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43886215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
