In this piece, we try to highlight the lives and literary paths of two Slovenian authors after the Second World War, Ivan Potrč and Narte Velikonja. Potrč was since his high school years an avowed communist, a political prisoner in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, an inmate in the concentration camp Mauthausen, and a partisan. After the war, he occupied senior political positions. The fate of Narte Velikonja, a pro-catholic high ranking banovina official and co-worker of Rupnik during the war, ended tragically. The post-war communist authorities sentenced him to death by firing squad on June 23, 1945. As writers, Ivan Potrč and Narte Velikonja connect in their delicate narrative prose.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48570742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The position of US official policy on the issue of Slovenia's international recognition is particularly emphasized, as well as the reporting of the US press on the policy of the United States of America and the countries of the European Economic Community towards Slovenia. The covered period begins with the reign of King Matthias Corvinus (from 1458, but crowned with the Crown of Saint Stephen in 1464) and ends with the coronation of Queen Maria Theresa in 1741. The three-hundred-year period did little good for the region; on the contrary, it subjected it to a great deal of misery. As a result, the period is referred to as the period of profound turning points. A brief description of the sources and literature is given initially, followed by the following chapters: I. Public administration; II. Markers of the Age – a historical outline of the period with significant events that impacted Prekmurje, and of the changes in property relations; III. Population, language, religion – population, social relations, language, and an outline of the religious conditions and ecclesiastic administration.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44728138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Ukraine a solid party system was slow to emerge. Different historical experiences and cultural features in various parts of the country as well as strong linking of political groupings to particular personalities or rather economic power groups prevented formation of stable parties with firm base of support in all regions of Ukraine. The divide between east and west, established already in 1994 and reinforced during the presidential election in 2004, has remained the main feature of Ukrainian politics until today. Belarus, on the other hand, can be seen as a country where political parties exert the weakest influence in all Europe. Animosity towards party politics has been rooted in Soviet traditions, but it has also been systematically encouraged by the president Alyaksandr Lukashenka's regime.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49148646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analyses are based on data gathered through several representative youth surveys in Slovenia: Youth 2000, Slovenian Youth 2013 and Slovenian Youth 2018. A special attention was devoted to the privatization thesis in the field of religion and the related secularization thesis. The latter was confirmed through the finding that the share of religiously unaffiliated youth has, during the period between 2000 and 2018, substantially increased in all regions of the northeastern Slovenia (Mura region, Drava region and Carinthia region), as well as in other Slovenian regions. However, the crucial finding in this paper is that the northeastern regions of Slovenia stand out by disproportionally high levels of institutionalized religiosity and by relative low levels of privatised religiosity.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45058383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The review covers everything from the adoption of the agreement of the transformation of the Austrian Empire into the Dual monarchy in 1867 to the question of the military arrangement of the joint Austro-Hungarian army and its functioning. In the article, the author does not deal with a review of military developments, which has been elaborated in historiography, but with the formal image of a Slovenian soldier in the Austro-Hungarian army through an analysis of various military documents, rules, and instructions through the prism of values as a framework for the functioning, and behaviour of individuals independently and in the group. Thus, in this analysis, he focuses mainly on how and in what way individual military values such as honour, courage, loyalty, camaraderie, and dedication are reflected in various military rules and guidelines.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48581403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The population in Prekmurje got most of its news from the frontlines from the local newspaper Novine, which was published and edited by priest Jožef Klekl. Most of the content is related to the conditions at home (Prekmurje) and more broadly (Austria-Hungary). News deemed of special importance was news in the crime section (general shortage, theft, smuggling) and news of missing or dead compatriots. In this section Klekl also used his editorial right to point out and warn about false local \"news\", and publish denials. Entertaining and worrisome local and foreign news are also not lacking. Amongst the latter especially reports on events in Russia, South America, the United States and Palestine, stand out.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46395549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the holders of the considered offices were of noble pedigree, even though some were citizens of cities or even smaller market towns. Rare individuals held more than one office title at the same time or sometimes the same office during intermittent time periods. It was all a result of the current political situation. The main objective of the research was to create a list of all the regional office holders and secondly to present these individuals considering their geographical origin. The ones originating from today's Slovenian Styria, we also tried to highlight. Otherwise it must me pointed out that the sources useful to research the considered offices and their holders are scarce as well as unevenly preserved. Therefore the end result of information from them varies greatly.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44068833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Revolution should not be understood purely as a specific social phenomenon, but in the context of the totalization of social subjectivity, which can also take on a totalitarian form. Within this, a new reflective horizon opens regarding totalitarian ideology as a tool and a weapon in the function of social power. Finally, we are confronted with the philosophical question, what is happening—not only because of the millions of victims of revolutionary terror, but also because of the nihilistic expansion of social subjectivity—with the essential meaning of humanity and individual existence.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45901498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Gorizia clergy, mostly very loyal to the state and the Habsburg ruling family, shared the sad fate of the Gorizia archdiocese during the war, as it suffered from the bloody fighting on the Isonzo front. The priests did not directly participate in the military engagements, but they did help in many ways the tested population either in exile or in the hinterland of the front. After the breakthrough at Kobarid in the fall of 1917 the majority of the Gorizia clergy was sincerely delighted at the Austro-Hungarian victory and the crushing Italian defeat.","PeriodicalId":38093,"journal":{"name":"Studia Historica Slovenica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43402016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
