Often anomalies, at the onset, appear up as innovations, an unprecedented experience for the network system. For this reason it is appropriate to face them with a negative selection approach that can detect foreign patterns in the complement space. In this work we propose to detect the onset of traffic anomalies within the paradigmatic approach of evolutionary artificial immune systems, through the use of classifiers evolved on the basis of normal traffic profile (the complementary space corresponds to the immune system non-self): the overall architecture can provide robustness and adaptability. The approach discussed here could apply not only to volume anomalies but to traffic anomalies in general.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122618983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As exemplified by Chinese recipes on the Web, it is not easy for people to use keywords (eg, recipe names) to search recipes, since the names of Chinese dishes can be literally so abstract that they do not bear much, if any, information on the underlying ingredients or cooking methods. In this paper, we investigate the underlying features of Chinese recipes, and based on workflow-like cooking processes, we model recipes as graphs. Benefiting from the characteristics of graphs, we mine frequent common patterns in a cooking graph database. We also propose a novel similarity measure based on the frequent patterns, and devise a novel filtering algorithm to prune unrelated data so as to support efficient and effective on-line searching.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131305991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although different publications have dealt with the usage of Service-oriented Collaboration in various scenarios, the potential risks and benefits of this collaboration in certain industries have not been observed in detail. In this paper, we present basic considerations about the impact of Service-oriented Collaboration on organizations. Furthermore, we evaluate our assumptions with results from a survey we conducted in the German banking industry. Using data from 52 banks, it turns out that the potential benefits of Service-oriented Collaboration exceed the suspected risks - therefore we deduce that this kind of collaboration is suited to improve the cooperation between and in companies.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116626682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major challenges facing the system are efficient coordination and prompt production planning in meeting and sometimes exceeding customerspsila expectations. Agent-based approach to modelling such business processes has much recompense especially in a virtual enterprise where business entities are distributed over dispersed geographical locations. This model takes advantage of core agentpsilas features and adds autonomous and flexible properties to supply chain system, thus making it proactive and responsive to better compete and efficiently collaborate in creating customer-centred products. In this paper, we propose a multi-agent system framework for a Virtual Enterprise (VE) involved in the manufacturing of products and capture the logic of the production planning with a simple decision tree. This approach relatively simplifies the transformation of the complex logic property of the system to a declarative programming language and facilitates implementation. Also, the agents collaboratively get product order from customers, plan and execute the production processes as well as coordinate the prompt delivery of the finished products. This makes the system akin to a digital ecosystem and invariably gives such business enterprise an edge over its counterparts in the highly competitive market place.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129729760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are two classification methods: hybrid classification and single classification. Hybrid classification includes two steps, step one is attribute selection by search method using genetic search and results are compared by three evaluators: 1) Correlation-based Feature Selection (CFS) 2) Consistency-based Subset Evaluation and 3) Wrapper Subset Evaluation. Step two is the classification of data set by using selected attributed from step one and four classification algorithms. Next, Simple classification used classification algorithms only without attribute selection. The four classification algorithms that used in this experiment for comparing in two methods are : 1) Naive Bayes classifier 2) Baysian Belief Network 3) C4.5 algorithm and 4) RIPPER algorithm. The measurements of classification efficiency had been obtained by using the k-fold cross validation technique. From the experiment, it was found that hybrid classification technique using genetic search and CFS evaluator with C4.5 algorithm, gives the highest accuracy rate at 82.52%. However, results from F-measure evaluation showed that C4.5 algorithm did not fit for all data types. The hybrid classification technique using genetic search and wrapper subset with Baysian belief network can give a better precision value which can be seen in the F-measure, and it gives the accuracy rate at 82.42%.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132864270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By applying our model to just process resources, we can keep it a lot simpler and easier to understand. Having said that, our methodology still remains generic and applicable to processes across all domains instead of being targeted at one, like manufacturing or software engineering the way most other presented models do. The model we describe here is specifically designed to detect instances of non-conformance between a ldquoprescribedrdquo process and its ldquoobservedrdquo process counterpart by structuring the data of the two and then making comparisons. A mathematically formal model is presented with a small illustrative example of how it can be usefully applied.","PeriodicalId":380627,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134515139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
