However, researchers and practitioners are vague about the advantages of ESM usage in the workplace to handle the work related uncertainties. This study investigated whether and how ESM usage, psychological safety can be positively associated with employee's agility. Employee's agility is the ability of the employee to react and adopt environmental changes more promptly and appropriately. Based on information processing theory, this study examines employee agility by considering the mediating effect of communication quality. Data was collected from 167 employees who adopted ESM in the workplace, the existing study supports our proposed hypotheses and mediating effect. The findings confirm the significant role of ESM usage and psychological safety in improving employee agility through communication quality. This research study contributes to the existing ESM literature by investigating communication quality and its role in developing employee's agility in the context of ESM and suggesting managerial implications of ESM usage in improving the employee's agility.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49315032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a double-stage model that forecasts traffic. The hybrid model is based on quantitative tools. First, we search for associations in data and then, we develop a time series analysis. The specific objectives of the study are firstly to survey and collect data at a disaggregated level in terms of passenger and vehicle flows and time periods; and secondly, to develop forecasts on short-term using a combination of the proposed techniques. We think that the simultaneous application of historical analogy and time series forecasting is a powerful tool to predict the future traffic. Additionally, the methodological procedure proposed in this paper is general enough to be applied to other traffics and ports.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42360001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research analyses the effect of machining parameters on surface quality of aluminium 2024 T351 in milling of semi-circular pocket with carbide tool on 5-axis hybrid parallel kinematic machine (HPKM). Three different segmented surfaces were selected on semi-circular pocket and investigated the influence of machining parameters. The selected parameters are spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Investigation of this study results in the optimum parameters that could produce good surface finish. The effect of these cutting parameters is evaluated using L9 Taguchi orthogonal array, s/n ratio, analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the result analysis, good surface finish can be obtained at high cutting speed, low feed rate, and low depth of cut. Also, the maximum influence of feed rate among the selected surface segments was ascertained.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43262360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transdisciplinary processes are aimed at solving ill-defined and socially relevant problems. Many researchers have studied transdisciplinary processes and have tried to understand the essentials of transdisciplinarity. Many engineering problems can be characterised as ill-defined and socially relevant, too. Although transdisciplinary engineering cannot widely be found in the literature yet, a transdisciplinary approach is deemed relevant for many engineering problems. With this paper we aim to present an overview of the literature on research into transdisciplinary processes and investigate the relevance of a transdisciplinary approach in engineering domains. After a brief description of past research on transdisciplinarity, implications for engineering research, engineering practice, and engineering education are identified. In all three areas, the current situation is described, while challenges are identified that still exist. The paper ends with a research agenda for transdisciplinary engineering.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJASM.2019.098728","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47498683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, critical success factors (CSFs), affecting leagile manufacturing, have been identified through literature review and discussion with industrialists and academics. Fuzzy decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique have been applied to divide the CSF's into cause and effect categories. It has been found that critical success factors 1 (collaborative relationship), 3 (strategic management), 5 (customer and market sensitiveness), 7 (human resource management), 11 (flexible manufacturing system), 12 (knowledge and IT management), 14 (availability of funds), and 15 (benchmarking) falls under cause group while critical success factors like 2 (management support towards implementation of policy), 4 (training and development programs), 6 (design and engineering), 8 (virtual enterprises), 9 (use of advance manufacturing technologies), 10 (supply chain management), and 13 (rapid reconfiguration) falls under effect group. The research will help the managers to identify the key factors and work accordingly in proper directions to implement leagile system in their organisations. Leagile system results in increased profitability, better quality of products, better customer satisfaction, better sales, increased productivity, increased sales, reduced manufacturing lead time, etc.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"293"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47401279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Type of insert, cutting speed, feed and depth of cut were the factors investigated. The response variables analysed were tool flank wear and surface roughness. Basing on RSM central composite design, an experimental plan (L18 OA) was developed. The ANOVA results signify that the suggested mathematical models could adequately elucidate the performance indicators within the range. The generated regression equation reveals that the flank wear is mainly influenced by the type of insert followed by cutting speed. The surface roughness was majorly affected by the type of insert followed by feed rate. Machined surface topographies and tool flank wear mechanism were analysed by examining the SEM micrographs. RSM multi-response optimisation was executed so as to optimise the turning parameters.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"340"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48660718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This reference model helps to visualise and communicate alternative common decision-making contexts needed to sustain competitive responses in firms through their lifetime, and thereby through the lifetime of the products and the services they realise. Little present literature describes the practical application of emergent asset orchestration (AO) concepts. Hence, the present authors use their reference model to capture actual AO data within two case study firms. The captured data shows how AO theory can be deployed to direct strategic decision making towards sustainable configuration and deployments of a firms resource portfolio. Essential characteristics of the new reference model and of how it can be applied are reported in this paper.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"315"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42887633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One Belt One Road (OBOR) strategy heavily relied on the traditional logistical trade routes including terrestrial and oceanic Silk Road. Logistics performance may play a vital role for implementing the One Belt One Road plan. Especially, third party logistics providers as supporting members to carry out value-adding supply chain activities in one belt one road. According to literature review, supply chain risk is an issue to obstruct the development of logistics performance. The purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual framework for managing supply chain risks and improving logistics performance under the OBOR initiative in Chinese third party logistics service providers. There are very few studies on risk management in the OBOR initiative. We focus on the innovation, customer response and flexibility in the third-party logistics providers. This would provide a guide for both academics and practitioners to manage supply chain risks and improve logistics performance and enlighten them to pay attention to supply chain risk management in the Chinese third party logistics sector. In addition, this contributes to the supply chain and logistics management in One Belt One Road literature.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"364-380"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1504/IJASM.2018.095515","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49316063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The service aims to satisfy the patients' requirements which must be done by qualified staff visiting them at the right time. This paper proposes a new framework integrating the heuristic search and fuzzy logic with knowledge acquisition to develop reliable and effective decision to match qualified staff to offer the service with the minimum cost, under preference consideration and feasible time-slots. The framework is designed based on the hierarchical approach dividing the system into two layers: high and low level. The high level is responsible for retrieving information, such as patients' locations and operation cost while the lower level with fuzzy logic to estimate a set of the level of staff selection to create the service plan. Our empirical study of 40 medical tasks with eight carers shows that the framework has a potential to provide improved solutions than the original.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"247-269"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44093117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can limit the opportunity of patients who live in remote areas to access quality and proper treatment due to the fact that healthcare services in Thailand are relatively centralised. The study proposes a collaborative framework to empower local healthcare clusters to service patients in their area of residence more effectively to minimise patient referral to their hub hospital. Several common features and constraints are identified. The investigation is to develop a practical ICT solution based on a case study of cleft-lip/palate treatment using a network in Northern Thailand. Initial implementation of this enterprising project is outlined in this paper. The current progress includes two applications that have been developed to address the high priority issues of collaborative networking. One is to support data sharing for medical teams and the other is to facilitate patients to access better medical services.","PeriodicalId":38028,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agile Systems and Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"270"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47771607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
