The present paper summarizes the state of the art applications of short length LDPC codes and proposes FPGA based application specific hardware architectures for short-length LDPC decoders. The decoding algorithms considered for implementation are both belief propagation and min-sum algorithm. Due to the increased BER performances, the proposed architecture make use of parallel computation capabilities offered by FPGA technology in order to implement the belief propagation algorithm. In spite of the iterative nature and increased computational complexity of the LDPC decoding algorithm, the proposed architecture achieves high-throughput, mandatory in real-time application and data transmission. The architecture for the LDPC belief propagation based decoder is based on arctangent hyperbolic function approximation used for check nodes update.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123241666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is considered that the camera is calibrated, and that the relative motion between the two images is small. The method is appropriate for a camera mounted on a moving vehicle and it is proven that the changes in yaw, pitch and roll angles can be accurately determined in this setup. We propose a RANSAC process that selects the distant points based on a new motion model for image pixels valid only for the points at infinite. Additionally, robustness of the method is increased by considering the fact that image deformations are 0 for the points at infinite.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125201499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice this means combined vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), communication system employing interactive example services related to safety and weather information exchange. In this paper we present FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute) approach to employ CoMoSef vehicular networking entity by creating a specific service hotspot for vehicles bypassing the combined Road Weather Station (RWS)/Road Side Unit (RSU). Local road weather and route weather (a special type of weather service tailored for dedicated road stretches, constructed both from FMI meteorological systems data and the data collected from local RWSs) are the obvious services offered, but in addition to them there is a variety of services available, from specialized weather data into more general traffic information and local accident warnings. The ultimate aim is to provide data to vehicles regardless of their communication devices available. The supported media at the moment consists of IEEE 802.11p and traditional Wi-Fi communication operated through special vehicle computer, Android-based tablet PC or standard laptop computer, but it is expected to be supplemented at least with iPad- and Jolla-devices, respectively.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125392202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We start by presenting a formal model of the resource management system proposed with high emphasis on monitoring techniques devised to gather real-time feedback about the critical parameters of resources with respect to their manageability. One such parameter is the resource availability, critical in higher-level decision systems such as resource allocators and execution schedulers. The system design and internal techniques devised to gear the management layer are presented in the second part of the paper.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116724357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"A dynamic approach for hierarchical clustering of gene expression data","authors":"A. Biological processes are dynamic, therefore the data is continuously subject to change. Researchers can either wait until all data is available, or analyze it gradually, as the experiment progresses. Currently, the latter can only be accomplished by repeating the clustering process from the beginning. This would be very time consuming and could lead to important delays, considering the huge amounts of data to be dealt with. In this article we propose a dynamic approach for hierarchical clustering of gene expression data, which can handle the newly arrived data by adapting a previously obtained partition, without the need of re-running the algorithm from scratch. The experimental evaluation is performed on a real-life gene expression data set and the performance of our model is shown by the obtained results, which are analyzed in terms of several evaluation measures.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127162161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even if we talk about complex use cases (e.g. weather prediction, large geographic areas classification, etc.) or simple operations (e.g. relevant information extraction from a predefined data set) that are performed by regular users in different purposes, today's GIS application have to be scalable enough to process these requests in a reasonable amount of time. The method analyses the profile of a person including general health information, preferences and daily dietary and physical activities habits using a Naive Bayes classifier to identify unhealthy behaviours that increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. If an unhealthy behaviour is detected, the method applies a Particle Swarm Optimization-based algorithm to generate healthy lifestyle recommendations that adjust the person's body mass index within healthy limits. The proposed method has been integrated into an experimental prototype and evaluated on a set of generated user profiles.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127267227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a formal description technique we use denotational semantics and the mathematical methodology of metric semantics. We use continuations and powerdomains to represent nondeterministic behavior. An element of a powerdomain is a collection of sequences of observables representing DNA structures. We consider two notions of an observable item and we design two corresponding denotational models. As far as we know this is the first paper that employs the denotational approach in the semantic investigation of DNA computing.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127357199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a new approach in pedestrian detection that combines the popular Local Binary Patterns and Histogram of Oriented Gradient features. The novelty of our work resides in the combination of a reduced HOG feature vector with uniform LBP patterns for the pedestrian data representation. Another contribution resides in the design and implementation of a two-stage cascade classifier of Support Vector Machine. Our method has been trained and tested on reference benchmark datasets and it proved to have good results.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124241752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a methodology to evaluate the efficiency of these algorithms by comparing results to an optimal model. The goal of the algorithms is to reduce the travel time of every vehicle, but especially those vehicles with higher priority. The calculation considers the main elements of the traffic system, such as topography of the lane, traffic rules and individual capacity of acceleration. Experimental tests to evaluate one algorithm are presented.","PeriodicalId":380109,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130007064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
