However, there have been no studies conducted for establishing the prevalence of same in pediatric population, in Bhairahawa, Nepal. The main objective of the study was to determine the prevalence rate of mesiodens in children between the age group of 4-12 years. Clinical examination and radio vediographs of 1240 patients were investigated. A total of 32 patients were found to have mesiodens/mesiodents’. The study shows a prevalence rate of 2.58% with sex ratio of 15:1 favouring males. Mesiodens is commonly seen supernumerary tooth in children which leads to various problems leading to malocclusion in oral cavity. Early detection and treatment can be helpful in resolution of future problems.","PeriodicalId":379783,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Dental Panacea","volume":"21 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141336158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it’s long-term use leads to refraction along with severe side effects has made to search for a suitable alternative to CBZ.Present study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Oxcarbazepine (OXC) in those patients, who failed to get adequate relief despite taking CBZ for longer span. 15 patients including 12 males and 3 females (age group 30-65 years) mean age 53.3 years were prescribed OXC in subsequent doses of 300mg, 600mg, 900mg, maximum up to 2400mg and the pain relief was analysed using grading as No response, Moderate and Excellent response. Significant pain relief was observed as the dose was increased in the range of 1200-2400mg. Likert scale (5 points scale) for treatment satisfaction was used in which 2 patients marked as very satisfied, 11 patients were found to be satisfied, whereas only 2 marked as neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. : OXC, proves to be a useable alternative to CBZ in terms of being cost effective, better pain control and less side effects. A brief review of the drug OXC is also added.","PeriodicalId":379783,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Dental Panacea","volume":"8 38","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141337730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In dentistry, a variety of sutures are employed. Both absorbable and nonabsorbable suture materials are part of the primary category. A well-fitting suture prevents the displacement forces caused by external agents, functional movements, and muscle insertions. The potential of novel suture materials to resemble wounds and cure wounds is driving up their manufacture in recent times. In order to help the clinician obscure the best possible soft tissue care, this review provides an update on the features and guiding principles of suture selection.","PeriodicalId":379783,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Dental Panacea","volume":"2 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141336869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present systematic review aims to comprehend the efficacy of aromatherapy in reducing dental anxiety in pediatric patients, exploring different aromatherapy agents, dispersion methods, and their anxiety-relieving capacities. A systematic search was performed in the following databases: MEDLINE (Ovid), Pubmed, Pubmed Central, Web of Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIEXPANDED), and Google Scholar using the key terms “Aromatherapy” AND “Pediatric” OR “Children” AND “Dental Anxiety” OR “Fear” to identify articles published in the English language without any restriction for the time of publication. A total of nine randomized controlled trials were identified that assessed various essential oils such as lavender, orange, and lemongrass for aromatherapy in pediatric patients during dental treatment. Most of these studies employed aromatherapy using a diffuser during non-pain-promoting dental treatments in children of 6 to 9 years of age. Aromatherapy is an effective non-pharmacological and non-invasive modality for reducing dental anxiety in pediatric patients which is free of adverse effects. However, there's a need for standardized methods of dispersion and clearer guidelines for oil posology","PeriodicalId":379783,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Dental Panacea","volume":"10 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141336004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
