More specifically, two meta-heuristics, namely Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) and Archived Multi-Objective Simulated Annealing (AMOSA), are adapted to generate near-optimal process plans. IOPT nets are a non-autonomous Petri-net class, based on Place-Transition nets with an extended set of features designed to allow the rapid prototyping and synthesis of system controllers through an existing hardware-software co-design framework. To obtain coherent and deterministic operation, IOPT nets use a maximal-step execution semantics where, in a single execution step, all enabled transitions will fire simultaneously. This fact increases the resulting state-space complexity and can cause an arc “explosion” effect. Real-world applications, with several million states, will reach a higher order of magnitude number of arcs, leading to the need for high performance state-space generator algorithms. Therefore there is a demand for simple orchestration techniques of different industrial devices, such as vision systems, cameras, sensors, PLCs, pocket-PCs. This paper meets this need by implementing a dynamic graphical user interface (GUI) based on the StateCharts concept. The paper describes the choices made in the construction, namely regarding the handling of hierarchy and discusses their implications in the effectiveness of the GUI. Since no one model can simulate every aspect of a system, the need for these models to be broken into their component parts is imperative for accuracy and maintainability. However, no model can operate alone without data from an outside source, and so further efforts in the Model Interoperability area of research are necessary. Model Interoperability is dedicated to finding methods with which to couple two or more models. This coupling would allow the models to utilize each other's data to produce more comprehensive and more accurate results. There are several methods for model interoperability, including monolithic, component, scheduled, and communication. Also, there are solutions to the problem of model coupling that use one or more of those methods, but most of them require significant code modification. They will have to react to both user and environmental events, and this may require modifying their structure to handle the changing situations. For a number of domains, such adaptation will need to take place in real-time, introducing a hard problem that will require novel and paradigmatic solutions involving cross-domain knowledge. The ARTEMIS iLAND1 project focuses on time-deterministic reconfiguration in complex NES. The project contributions gather around the construction of a light-weight real-time middleware architecture and of the development the required processes and algorithms to support system reconfiguration in bounded-time with bounded-error. This paper presents the context of this challenging problem by describing the contributions and vision of the project and discussing a number of limitations found in current approaches. The paper also discusses the set of realistic bounds and assumptions in order to provide valid contributions to reconfiguration in its target application domains. They transport expensive goods and often contribute to country's security. They may face many critical emergency cases in sea that lead to accidents, collision, ship overturn leading to a destructive effect on life, property and environment. One of the major reasons for ship accidents is due to human error. To reduce accidents and ship collisions during ocean navigation, application of automated navigational aids in terms of intelligent decision taking facilities are on the rise. Case-based reasoning (CBR) is a problem solving technique that solves present problem taking reference from variety of similar problem situations. It can render decision-making easier by retrieving past solutions from situations that are similar to the one at hand and make necessary adjustments in order to adapt them. In this paper, a Case-based reasoning system for handling ship turning problem has been proposed. These scenarios are generated with qualitative and quantitative hybrid simulation, which propagates the effect from initial values by Monte Carlo Simulation. Because the most of scenarios do not often lead to the goal value, we take an approach to combine the scenarios by hybrid simulation (forward simulation) and the scenarios by the inverse simulation that decides initial values from the goal values. The high-speed generation method of goal-oriented scenarios combines the scenarios when the qualitative values on both scenarios are equal. Because the inverse simulation takes longer than the forward simulation, the proposed method keeps the number of trials of the inverse simulation small.
