The unclear Late Oligocene-Miocene tectonic forces are often\u0000 interpreted as interchange of the crustal-scale driven extensional uplift\u0000 episodes, presumably affecting the formation of a number of the lacustrine\u0000 mini-basins, often referred to as the ?intra-montagne basins?. A limited\u0000 number of the available field-based structural interpretations tend to\u0000 explain the Miocene crustal-rooted extensional episode(s). Despite lacking\u0000 of the important subsurface data, such as wells-derived thickness and other\u0000 data, commonly used for the reconstruction of the eventual subsidence\u0000 stages, the available interpretations provide several deep crustal-scale\u0000 models of the extensional setting. In order to better understand the timing\u0000 and mechanism behind the onset of the Oligo-Miocene Dinaride\u0000 ?intra-montagne? extensional episode(s), this study uses the available\u0000 information of the precursory oblique convergent margins, further proposing\u0000 the use of a combination of the crustal and the basin modeling tools that\u0000 could extract more information of the barely available subsurface data\u0000 (subsidence rate, source-to-sink patterns, etc). The assessment of the\u0000 recently published surface constraints, allowed the following discussion\u0000 evaluating a set of the recently proposed crustal-scale ?intra-montagne?\u0000 tectonic models.

The authors integrated the principal geological and geophysical data provided by surface works and multidisciplinary elements from the fifty-two wells with depths between 33 and 2,733 m. Explicit paleontological findings of specialized analytists with determinations of macro- and microfauna and flora are presented both from Neogene formations and the older basinal floor. In addition to conventional petrological descriptions of rocks, microscopic determinations of intrusive and extrusive magmatites were also cited. From the enclosed basin space, the mineralization of deep aquifers is also correlative positioned. From the geophysical data for wells deeper than 400 m, records of well logging measurements were used, with markers based on which valid stratigraphic delimitations were made. Seismic survey sections were the basis for spatial shaping of Neogene sedimentation and basin floor configuration. For in-depth geological interpretations, published and repository gravimetric and geomagnetic maps of different sizes and years were consulted. The authors focused primarily on factometric indicators without entering into variable and debatable theoretical schematizations, especially orogenically complex of subbasin tectonics, in dissonant relations with the younger disjunctive shaped configuration which is visually shown in the reference cross-sections both vertically and laterally

A resolution for\u0000 establishing the "Carpathian Geological Association" was adopted during the\u0000 13th session of the International Geological Congress in Brussels (August 9,\u0000 1922). It was a result of the efforts and initiative of R. Kettner\u0000 (Czechoslovakia), J. Nowak (Poland), G. Munteanu Murgoci (Romania), and V.\u0000 Petkovic (Yugoslavia). Later, after the Second World War, the association\u0000 changed its name to the Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association (CBGA).\u0000 During the last hundred years, the CBGA has passed several phases of its\u0000 existence and organization regarding European geopolitical changes. The main\u0000 goal of the CBGA remained the same as at the beginning: to promote and\u0000 encourage joint fundamental and applied geological research in the\u0000 Carpathian-Balkan region and surrounding area. Today, many geoscientists from\u0000 the 16 member states collaborate in the frame of official working groups of\u0000 CBGA, EU professional projects, business meetings and joint topics, education\u0000 programs, etc. CBGA is affiliated with the International Union of Geological\u0000 Science (IUGS) as one of the oldest regional organizations. Based on\u0000 increasing industrial and environmental demands and needs and an interest in\u0000 the region?s vast scientific and professional community, we believe the CBGA\u0000 can improve its activity and give additional benefits to the scientific\u0000 community, industry, and the environment.

Here, we describe a rich\u0000 fossil association of freshwater fish otoliths of late Badenian to early\u0000 Sarmatian (Serravallian, MN 7+8 zone) age. The studied material was\u0000 collected from several small outcrops along the Grabovac stream near\u0000 Vracevic. The Vracevic locations are part of the Valjevo-Mionica Basin\u0000 (VMB). We identified nine different species, including two in open\u0000 nomenclature and three new to science: Aphanius jeani, Aphanolebias bettinae\u0000 n.sp., Klincigobius andjelkovicae, Klincigobus haraldahnelti n. sp.,\u0000 Klincigobius serbiensis, Klincigobius sp., Ponticola sp., Toxopyge campylus,\u0000 Toxopyge vracevicensis n.sp. We found that the composition of this fish\u0000 fauna correlates well with the slightly older fauna from the early to middle\u0000 Miocene of Klinci. Both localities were most likely part of a continuous\u0000 environment during the existence of the Valjevo-Mionica Basin. The\u0000 composition of the community of freshwater gobies from the early to early\u0000 middle Miocene of southeaster n Europe indicates the presence of a "lost"\u0000 Miocene freshvvater goby fish fauna that existed prior to and was unrelated\u0000 to the Ponto-Caspian fish fauna that prevails today. The new data may prove\u0000 helpful in reconstructing the paleogeographical evolution of the\u0000 Valjevo-Mionica Basin in detail.

The satellite was positioned into orbit\u0000 in early 1996, with data acquisition expected to commence on January 20th.\u0000 The correlation between increased values of solar wind parameters and\u0000 earthquakes in the Balkan peninsula zone between 1996 and 2018 was made\u0000 possible by data obtained through continuous proton density and proton\u0000 velocity monitoring. The assessment of the anomalous threshold was based on\u0000 statistically determined parameters due to the huge fluctuation of solar\u0000 wind over time and distinct value increases of proton density and speed.\u0000 Visual representations of proton density and proton speed were created for\u0000 the time window preceding each earthquake after defining the boundary\u0000 between normal and anomalous values. According to current\u0000 estimates 30-35 % of Serbia is affected by landslides. In this paper a\u0000 landslide susceptibility analysis is done for SE Serbia. Study area covers\u0000 1507 km2. Relief is hilly or mountainous and characterized by high altitude\u0000 differences. Analysis is done by geographic information system (GIS) and\u0000 evaluation by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). For susceptibility\u0000 assessment are used four factors: lithology, slope angle, distance to rivers\u0000 and distance to faults. The most landslides are formed on slope steepness\u0000 less than 30?. There is four classes of susceptibility in study area. Zone\u0000 of very high susceptibility make 63.9 % of the study area. Zone of high\u0000 susceptibility covers 15.7 % of the study area. The moderate class occupies\u0000 37.4% and zone classified as having low susceptibility accounts for 10 % of\u0000 study area.
