The Triassic rifting, according to this concept, led to the opening and the formation of a northwestern branch of Neotethys (=Vardar Ocean). Similar concept explains the developments within the Inner Hellenide allochoton (Serbo-Macedonian Unit and Pelagonides). The testing of early Alpine configuration in Serbia shows, however, that the two crystalline basement units have significant paleogeographic variances. The study moreover includes the differences in Paleozoic metamorphic grades between two inliers, their exhumation times, etc. The investigated pre-Triassic paleogeographic and geodynamic variances unambiguously contradict any connection before and during Triassic (Ladinian). In this regard, by using the available field data, and the juxtaposed Late Paleozoic Variscan tectonometamorphic differences, the paper underscores the large differences in the (pre)Triassic plate configurations and paleogeography. The synthesis displays the two separate positions of these microplates situated along with the length of this segment of the Triassic Eurasian continental margin.

The review aimed to reassess the peri- Neotethyan paleogeography affecting the evolution of the Neotethyan oceanic crust (?single? vs. ?multiple oceans? or single- vs. two ophiolite belts) by juxta - posing the key differences of the late Variscan temporal evolution (controlling early Alpine paleogeography) between the Jadar block and Drina?Ivanjica crystalline segment. The study goal is the questionable paleogeographic affinity of the Jadar block. Contrary to the recent inferences attributing the Jadar block as a segment of the Apulia/Adria microplate, the study examine whether and how the Jadar Late Paleozoic succession may allow for an alter - native paleogeographic solution of the Neotethyan relevance. According to this comparison survey of these late Paleozoic successions, it appears that the Jadar block may carry a (tentative) evidence of the proximity of the western Paleotethys. The comparison yields a putative paleogeographic position as - sociating the Jadar block with the post-Variscan European margin (not ?pulia/Adria microplate). The proposed shift of the Permian-Triassic paleo - geographic position of the Jadar block inevitably affects the obduction length i.e. questions a favourable protracted along strike-width of the overriding Neotethyan West Vardar ophiolites (?single ocean model?).

The concentrations of\u0000 certain minor elements in the PM10 particles exceed a pallet of the elements\u0000 that contain values higher than the maximum allowed concentrations. The most\u0000 concerning are the As and Co concentrations, two very toxic elements that\u0000 can cause cancer-related sicknesses through eventual inhalation. This report\u0000 connects the chemical composition of the suspended air particles (potential\u0000 pollutants) with their source and provides an estimate of the air quality\u0000 in the investigated area for a particular timeframe of several consecutive\u0000 months. The results indicated that air quality in Lazarevac area was rather\u0000 low, affected by the excessive As and Co concentrations. The main source of\u0000 the measured air pollution was an increased level of ash. The resulting\u0000 ash-dominating pollution implies the necessity of the use of proper air\u0000 filters in the nearby thermo-electric power plants, and sustainable use of\u0000 coal in domestic households. In addition, the pollution can be moderated by\u0000 careful use of coal as a solid fuel in individual local households. These ophiolite-bearing\u0000 agglomerations are unroofed within the accretionary Paleogene to Miocene\u0000 core-complex, beneath the Serbo-Macedonian overriding plate. The exposed\u0000 Neotethyan crustal amalgamation is comprised of: an (i) folded trench\u0000 assemblage of uncertain Mesozoic? Paleogeographic affinity metamorphosed\u0000 under a greenschist-grade (West- vs. East Vardar Zone or Neotethyan crust-\u0000 vs. its back-arc system?) sandwiched beneath the overlying (ii) late\u0000 Cretaceous - Paleogene (meta)turbidites. To make matters more intricate, at\u0000 the closest proximity of the dome (Mali Jastrebac Mountain) there is a\u0000 similar (iii) greenschist-facies amalgamation comprised of the\u0000 Neoproterozoic - Lower Paleozoic ocean-floor assembly (Supragetic basement).\u0000 The interpretations of this rather controversial cross-lithospheric\u0000 structure include a reassessment of the obduction sequence, and are\u0000 underpinned by the restoration of the near-trench microplate motions. The\u0000 study addresses the (1) local finite configuration (Serbo-Macedonian hanging\u0000 wall vs. Neo - tethyan intraoceanic arc) and the (2) spatiotemporal geometry\u0000 of the principal (micro)plate boundaries (Serbo-Macedonian Unit vs.\u0000 Apulia/Adria). Unlike the earlier proposal of the ophiolite obduction onto\u0000 the Serbo-Macedonian Unit onto the Apulia/Adria hinterland (or external\u0000 segment of the ?Dacia mega-terrane?), we here propose a west-vergent\u0000 obduction of the East Vardar Zone ophiolites onto the descending Neotethyan\u0000 lithosphere (West Vardar ophiolites) - a similar scenario to its\u0000 continuation in Greece (Peonias subzone).
