The broader acceptance of Cloud technologies has led to the establishment of datacenters. Over the years, high energy consumption by datacenters has become a major interest as a result of increasing demands of resources and services by enterprise and scientific applications. Consequently, datacenter infrastructure turns out to be not only expensive to sustain, but also unfavorable to the surrounding environment due to their huge carbon emission. Thus, energy efficient virtual machine allocation techniques are required to overcome high energy consumption due to improper resource allocation within the data centers. This paper proposes Energy-Efficient Virtual Machine allocation technique using Interior Search Algorithm (ISA) that reduces the datacenter energy consumption and resource underutilization. The results shows that, the energy consumption of GA and BFD is 90%–95% as compare to the proposed EE-IS which around 65%. On average 30% of energy has been save using EE-IS as well the utilization of the resources which has also improved.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115215741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scope for this development of mobile application is focusing on medical field in which the purpose is to help people looking for medicine in the nearest pharmacy from their current location. The process of finding pharmacy is not as easy as finding any other shops, especially to locate the pharmacy that is selling the exact medical product that users are looking for. The consequences will be a time consuming and waste of money if they had to drive all away to the wrong pharmacy. That is how the idea of this MedMaps: Mobile Application for Finding, Managing and Commercialize Pharmacy is generated from. This application also provides Pharmacy a platform to commercialize their store and promoting their products. As for public users, they can also manage their pill consumption intake by setting an alarm that will always remind them when to consume the tablets. The development of this application has going through all required phases based on the Rational Unified Process (RUP) software methodology. The analysis had been done and requirements are being documented properly. To ensure the efficiency of the end product, the literature review on existing system and technology are also important. In addition, the decision on the chosen software architecture plays an important role in organizing requirements, maintaining the quality and help supporting this application development. Other than software architecture and the results from requirements elicitation, low-fidelity prototype produced also helps in supporting the construction of this mobile application.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114112517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many techniques have been proposed in the literature for detecting plagiarism in texts, but only a few techniques exist for detecting figure plagiarism. The main problem associated with existing techniques of plagiarism detection is that they are not applicable to non-textual elements of figures in research publications. This paper focuses on detecting plagiarism in scientific figures. Textual-reference representation based figure plagiarism detection techniques are proposed and evaluated, based on existing limitations. The proposed techniques use enhanced feature extraction such as textual features and similarity computation methods such as similarity based on textual-reference of figures. The enhanced feature extraction method was found to be capable of extracting textual references such as captions and description texts. The similarity detection method was capable of categorising a given figure as either plagiarised or non-plagiarised from a source collection of scientific publications, depending on a certain threshold value. Results showed that the proposed technique achieved precision=0.78 and recall=0.67 result in terms of the evaluation measure.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"535 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124521141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A document called Directive 20 has been issued by the Malaysian Government to guide all related agencies to manage any disasters including flood, effectively. The aim is to promote coordination among the parties involved and to share any related flood information which may lead to a better decision making. However, problems related to coordination have not yet been solved due to lack of knowledge sharing among these agencies. The knowledge owned by these agencies is spread manually or captured and published in the agencies' own websites and has not been captured, classified and integrated into a proper information systems which can be used by all agencies. Thus, it is hard for the authority to make decisions quickly and effectively. This paper is a preliminary research in the construction of ontology-based flood management systems in order to improve the knowledge sharing process and allow any information systems to integrate with each other. The result of this research is a proposed list of terms suitable for flood management domain which will be used to construct flood ontology.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117328509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IoT is known for its advantage that can help simplify people's everyday routine. Hence, the researcher comes with a proposed system called Smart Mirror. It is a concept of smart home-based Internet of Things (IoT). This system allows users to access information and also control the lights in the house. Relevant information can be traced such as time and date, weather, warning, traffic, and location map. The system applies Sonus technology as a medium of interaction between people and systems. So, users need to provide instructions to the system orally to acquire the system's response. The methodological approach used in this project is The Evolutionary Prototyping which gathers all requirements and designs the system in a quick method. A prototype is built to evaluate and deliver feedback. Improvements will be made to enhance the prototype, catering to user's satisfaction. Sonus is a speech to text library that can quickly and easily add a VUI (Voice User Interface) to any hardware or software project. Similar to Alexa, Google Now, and Series, Sonus can always provide listening function offline for a customizable hotword. Once a hotword is detected, it will be streamed to user's speech recognition cloud service, then the results shall be received. With Smart Mirror system, users can manage their daily activities at ease as well as solving many problems in managing some house chores.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132461636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To explore the entire treasure and uniqueness of the island through the easiest way and shortest time, an android-based application is specially built based on the tourism information about Langkawi. Smart Langkawi Tourism is a free download application available in PlayStore and AppStore for Android and IOS users who want to know more about Langkawi or plan to travel to the beautiful island. The application helps tourists in planning their travel itinerary systematically. The auto schedule planner function provides suggestions on trip ideas to users based on their duration of whole trip and preferred activities. As directions and maps are important for tourists to reach destinations, the application incorporates all functions required by tourists to have a restful, worry-free vacation. Besides, the application is also equipped with complete information about Langkawi which includes recommended hotspots, maps and suggestion of activities. Since not all smart phone users can afford a premium data plan with Internet connection at all times, this application also provides offline information and maps to smoothen the whole running of trip. The waterfall model is chosen because it is a highly organised approach which requires documentation with clear project objectives and stable project requirements. The unit of Information Technology of KDTC (Kedah Digital Transformation Centre) has been given the opportunity to enhance the functionality of the application and thus delivering a huge advantage to tourists who use it. Eventually, this project is seen to contribute to the rapid growth of Langkawi tourism industry.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117062363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, is used by architects to assist them to design a green building. Green building is a concept where the building is environmentally friendly to the surrounding, does not use too much electricity and have low Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV). Architects having some tough time to design green building because OTTV of the building majorly affected by wall and window material used. Hence in this study, single objective Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to optimize green building designed by BIM. A decision support system using GA optimization is proposed to optimize green building designed using BIM. The goal is to find an optimum material combination that produces nearly optimum OTTV. The initial result shows that GA manages to find optimum materials combination with a reduced 16% OTTV.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"21 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114026805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problems identified are the overflowing trash bins especially in public areas with high population density and the complaints from the residents or public complaints regarding the punctuality of trash collection trucks. The objectives of the project are to design a Smart Waste Management (SWM) system based on Bootstrap platform, develop the system and test its functionality in fulfilling the requirements of the project. The methodological approach selected in this project is the waterfall methodology in which it comprises of four crucial phases: planning and analysis, system design, system implementation and system testing whereby each phase must be completed systematically prior to the commencement of subsequent phase. It is expected that the Smart Waste Management (SWM) system would be able to fulfill all of the project's objectives. This system is aimed to address the problems of overflowing trash bins and public complaints on trash collection trucks. The development of this system brings a huge significance in which operators would be able to know which trash bins require immediate collection and request for immediate dispatch by collection trucks. This method is seen to be more efficient compared to routine collection. Operators would also be able to track the relevant dispatch trucks through this convenient system.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134164596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, there has been an exponential increase in user generated text content, mainly in the terms of posts, tweets, reviews, and messages on social media. This increase in textual information creates many problems related to privacy. Data privacy is susceptible to personal behavior, due to the shared information structure medium of the social media platforms. This paper proposes a hyped model based on Communication Privacy Management Theory (CPM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by using new privacy factors that affect the user's attitude.","PeriodicalId":377665,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128792996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
