The SG has different subsystems for its accurate functionality. Among these subsystems, the communication subsystem plays a vital role for real-time data sharing between devices and systems connected in SG domain. In this paper, a survey of smart communication subsystem is provided and several communication technologies that have strong potential for implementation in future SG applications by electric utility companies are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of each communication technology in the SG domain are also presented. Finally, a hybrid communication model is suggested for reliable communication between smart meters and control system in the SG.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123095050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The WECS model consists of a wind turbine, PMSG, rectifier fed boost converter, PWM inverter and the filter. The controller is used to maintain the DC-link voltage constant and to generate controlled active and reactive power for grid. For verification of validity of proposed control scheme and model, the proposed system's dynamic model is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. SMC has the promising features of: fast switching, insensitivity to parameter uncertainty, disturbance rejection quality, and more robustness than the conventional linear controllers. The proposed continuous control compelled the states trajectories of the system onto the surface in error space (sliding surface) for the system behavior to obtain design specifications. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SMC is effective and gives superior performance than conventionally tuned PI controller.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127183609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In these communities, askers post questions and wait for others to answer based on their personal knowledge. This process may lead to misguidance as the provided information has very less authenticity. Due to increasing demand of such forums, it is vital to find experts. Therefore, the shared information will be accurate and authentic in reality. In this paper, FB-Rank technique is presented with an aim to find expertise level of users. For this purpose, content based novel features are used. In addition, H-index, I-index and G-index methods are also used in this research domain. Experiments have been performed on StackOverflow dataset to evaluate the performance of FB-Rank. The main feature provided by the already-existing home automation systems is that, every piece of equipment integrated is to be controlled by a central control system unit. Centralized solution based on this idea are very expensive, difficult to configure and more prone to problems because if the central control unit fails then every device becomes out of control. IP based systems are supposed to be simpler and easier to manipulate, with the only necessity being, connected to the network, Ethernet or Wi-Fi. With this in mind, we designed a low cost hardware and its requisite software framework based on distributed control system for home/commercial automation, in which every device would be connected with an electronic chip capable of communicating over the IP network and also being able to control the state of device, which includes switching and change in the device intensity. Furthermore additional circuitry has been added to turn on or off the device after certain period of user defined time. The beauty of this technique is that each device is its own control system and gets commands from the user via smart phone or even a web browser, if one device goes down then it doesn't affect the functioning of the rest of the devices. This paper seeks to pave the way for IP-enabling home appliances, making such devices part of well-known field the Internet of Things. Enabling each of these devices with capability of communicating over the network eliminates the need for special internet connected control units, and thus simplifying home automation.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"447 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123419206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blogosphere is the virtual world of all the blogs covering wide variety of social issues. The bloggers with the abilities to influence and sway other users' opinions are known as the influential bloggers. Identification of the influential bloggers has vast applications in online marketing, advertising and electronic commerce. Several models for identifying the influential bloggers are proposed in the relevant literature. However, the sentiment expressed by a blogger in a blog post is not explored. In this paper, we propose a model based on the integration of activity and recognition modules. The number of blog posts and quantitative analysis of sentiment expressed in blog posts represent a blogger's activity. The recognition represents the influence and reputation of a blogger in a social community. The experiments have been carried out using the social media blog of TechCrunch. The evaluation of the proposed model, MIBSF, using the performance evaluation measures prove that sentiment expressed in a post should be considered as an important factor for identifying influential bloggers. The findings also indicate that MIBSF shows better results to find the influential bloggers as compared to the existing methods.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128228773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Direct path consists of RF link while the relay link is composed of mixed radio frequency (RF) and free space optical (FSO) link. End-to-end outage performance using incremental and selective relaying strategy is analysed in which source to relay link is RF and relay to destination is FSO link. A closed form expression of outage probability is derived under the combined channel model which takes into account misalignment effect and turbulence effect by using the Meijer's G functions. Moreover, the effects of thermal noise and shot noise are also included in this model. The results demonstrated that incremental and selective relay technique achieves significant performance gain in strong turbulent channel and diversity is also achieved by increasing the number of relays.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127001048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The retinal vein morphology distinguishes the progressive phases of various sight debilitating maladies and consequently clears an approach to characterize its seriousness. The proposed method for retinal blood vessels detection consists of two major processes: denoising and vasculature segmentation. First, we used denoising preprocessing steps which comprises of Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) for contrast enhancement along with morphological filters to remove low frequency noise, followed by masking to excerpt Region Of Interest (ROI) and difference image of low pass filter to suppress high frequency noise. Adaptive thresholding has been used for vessels segmentation, followed by postprocessing to eliminate unconnected pixels and to obtain Vessel Location Map (VLM). Dilate operation has been used to enhance vessels diameter. In the second step, Combination Of Shifted Filter Responses (B-COSFIRE) for vasculature enhancement along with adaptive thresholding has been applied to segment vessel and background pixels. B represents the bar/vessel like structure. Finally, using pixel by pixel AND operation between VLM and the output of adaptive thresholding, to obtain desired binary image. The proposed framework has been validated on DRIVE and STARE images datasets and compared with other recent approaches for retinal blood vessels segmentation. The proposed scheme provides good results in the term of Accuracy (Acc), Sensitivity (Se) and Specificity (Sp) as compared to other competing methods.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123887993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different factors are behind the high latency of advance digital systems. Approaches like array binding and allocation, code rewriting, and others are adopted to reduce the overall latency of these systems. In this paper, we explore new dimensions to achieve maximum latency optimization in applications that involve extensive memory access. The proposed algorithm of idle/slack time management utilizes empty slots in memory access of different memory modules by appropriately activating upcoming commands in advance. The optimization of latency is further increased by incorporating the multi-way conflict resolution algorithm in second stage and followed by the use of advance dynamic buffers in third stage. Our successive three stages approach of adopting slack time management, multi-way partitioning using min-cut algorithm, and the use of advance dynamic buffers yields better results. Comparison of the experimental results with different benchmarks shows that our proposed technique optimizes the existing page-mode technique by 9%. Hence, adopting this proposed optimization strategy significantly reduces overall latency of modern digital systems.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121480492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper a novel H infinity controller via scenario optimization (H-infinity VSO) is presented for Active front steer (AFS) control the aim is to handle and stabilize vehicle under the uncertainty of parameter road adhesion coefficient µ. Parameter uncertainty is translated into perturbed matrixes. Optimal controller gains are calculated by considering predefined scenarios extracted according to the parameters ε and β. ε represents the probability of violation of LMI constraints and β represents confidence or risk failure. In this manner a chance constrained problem is solved which results in less conservativeness in stability and optimality. The results of proposed approach are much improved as compared to the optimal guaranteed cost controller (OGCC) and optimal coordination (OC) controller.","PeriodicalId":377662,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computing, Electronic and Electrical Engineering (ICE Cube)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133104396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays the challenge being faced while designing grid connected inverter is to efficiently handle the unknown distortions and disturbances caused by non-ideal utility grid. Different filter topologies can be adopted in case of inverter design but to tackle the unknown noise and disturbance parameters, in case of distorted grid, needs significantly more than basic synchronization procedures. This paper introduces a new method for grid synchronization with three phase Voltage source inverter (VSI), in which synchronous reference frame Phase Lock Loop (SRF-PLL) followed by an adaptive technique Recursive Least Square (RLS) is presented. The main objective of using adaptive filters is to adapt the output signal of the inverter by noise cancellation with respect to the corresponding grid.
