Due to the ubiquitous nature of RFID, attackers can easily launch attacks over wireless channel whenever there is a flaw on the RFID authentication protocol being used. A successful attack can imply a substantial loss in the enterprise and may trigger a series of problems. In this paper, we investigate a useful type of RFID authentication protocol, called forward secure authentication schemes, and found that these schemes are not secure. In particular, we present attacks that can desynchronize the authentication key of the RFID server and the tag so that they loss the ability to communicate or identify each other. On the other hand, we propose a solution to overcome this attack. We also provide a formal proof to show that our solution is secure under this attack based on the Universally Composable Model.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114412589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to support knowledge retrieval in virtual enterprises, the distributed case-based reasoning system (DCBRs) plays an important role for enabling knowledge-driven virtual enterprises. Hence, this paper aims to develop a mechanism for ontology-based distributed case-based reasoning using characteristic of ontology and a proposed multistage algorithm, to effectively support knowledge retrieval within the virtual enterprise environment. This study involves the following tasks: (i) designing an ontology-based distributed case-based reasoning architecture and procedure, (ii) developing techniques related to the ontology-based distributed case-based reasoning, and (iii) implementing an ontology-based distributed case-based reasoning mechanism. In developing techniques related to the ontology-based distributed case-based reasoning, which involves definition and representation of user query model, definition and representation of case model, definition and establishment of case index structure, and development of distributed case retrieval and case adaptation methods.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125035340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CEE is made of a cylindrical flexible object or rolling of a blade spring. By inserting the CEEs into routes of wires, the joint stiffness can be changed depending on a set of internal forces. However, it is difficult to obtain the solution of the inverse-kinematics for the manipulators with CEEs because of the complexity of CEE's deformation. This paper presents a numerical solving method for the inverse-kinematics of the one-link manipulator equipped with two CEEs. Using an approximate model of a CEE, we demonstrate the numerical solving method to obtain the wire length from the joint angle and stiffness. The precision of the proposed methods is evaluated by comparison between experimental results and numerical results.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125206792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose the use of RFID technology together with a conversational agent in order to implement a multimodal information retrieval service we call SensorMesh. The information acquired from RFID tags about the nearest point of interest is processed by the conversational agent that carries a more natural interaction with the user, also exploiting a common sense ontology. The service is accessible using a multimodal browser on Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs); the browser allows the user to interact with the conversational agent by means of spoken language instead of the traditional, keyboard- (or stylus-) based input systems. The resulting system offers a more natural interaction with respect to traditional pre-recorded, audio-visual services, and it is particularly suitable for non technology-skilled users.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"377 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131780936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ontology Alignment (OA) tries to identify similarities between heterogeneous ontologies and to automatically create suitable mappings for transformation. However, the usage of standard OA approach for safety-critical domains needs further investigation.In this paper, we describe a semi-automated ontology alignment approach (SAMOA) well-suitable for integration scenarios of safety-critical applications. The major contribution of our approach is the modeling differentiation between individual system knowledge and generic domain-specific knowledge.We evaluate our approach by providing a typical use case example from the Air Traffic Management (ATM) domain. In addition we analyze to what extent the SAMOA approach can be supported by state-of-the-art OA approaches.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114838856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

E-Government websites in developing countries are a type of the complex websites mentioned above. One of the challenges in delivering e-Government services is to design the Web sites to make it easier for citizens to find desired information to maximize service quality, enhancing economy and cost efficiency, and improving citizens’ participations in a democracy system. However, little work is found to evaluate e-government services in this sense. In addition, some e-Governments are currently struggling with huge information overloads, with new and emerging ICT capabilities, but few of them answer how to develop e-Government websites is better than others to facilitate citizens’ information seeking in enhancing economy and cost efficiency, and improving citizens’ participations in democracy. This paper aims to identify problems with the information quality and levels of the e-Government website. The paper discusses the development of e-Government in Indonesia as a case study to evaluate information quality of the e-Government in general. Finally, the paper conceptualizes a political economy framework for evaluating the development and progress level of the e-government in Indonesia with integrating socio-economic approaches for study of Indonesia’s situation in maximizing service quality and enhancing economy and cost efficiency, and improving citizens in the democracy systems processes.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115883792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PaSTeL offers both a programming model, to build parallel algorithms and an execution model based on work-stealing. Special care has been taken on using optimized thread activation and synchronization mechanisms. In order to illustrate the use of PaSTeL a subset of the STL's algorithms was implemented, which were also used on performance experiments. PaSTeL's performance is evaluated on a laptop computer using two cores, but also on a 16 cores platform. PaSTeL shows better performance than other implementations of the STL, especially on small datasets.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"309 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115251069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are often independent without any interoperability between each other. Therefore, clients are now asking for a better availability and scalability. In previous work, we presented the YML framework which was a first attempt to enable the development and deployment of applications on several global computing middleware. However, it suffered from scalability issues and a static approach.In this paper, we highlight recent extensions of YML. We achieve a dynamic federation of computing middleware because YML is now able to manage at the run-time several middleware back-ends. Other improvements such as an OmniRPC back-end, a component binary cache mechanism, a new data management module, and a new data type supported by the YML front-end, yield to a much better scalability. We present the first evaluations of these extensions on a network of  workstations and with a typical distributed sort application. Although the results show a significant overhead, they stress the benefits of binary caching and dynamic back-ends federation.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116218098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to allow use of TUI devices for controlling applications,a system needs to associate functions with the TUI devices. Although several TUI applications and toolkit shave been proposed, it is difficult to use them for various applications since they require the user to perform several inconvenient operations. Therefore, we propose a preference learning algorithm for an automatic matching between TUI devices and application functions. A user can freely place and easily operate the TUI devices, and our system creates and learns user's preference data. Our system does this by determining three concrete types of user preferences specialized for each application and six abstract types of those common to all applications. Our proposed system has achieved over 80% accuracy in automatic matching.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115615476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Marquès","doi":"10.1109/CISIS.2009.17","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/CISIS.2009.17","url":null,"abstract":"Large scale systems such as the Grid need scalable and efficient resource allocation mechanisms to fulfil the requirements of its participants and applications while the whole system is regulated to work efficiently. Economics inspired models have shown to efficiently allocate resources and services, scaling up well as they are decentralized. However most of existing implementations rely on a single market mechanism as a mean to handle resource allocation. Besides, in most of those approaches the allocation mechanism itself is neither flexible nor configurable, mostly designed for specific purposes such as scheduling one type of tasks. Nowadays, Grids are heterogeneous systems composed of multiple cohabitating resources and applications. Such heterogeneity requires complex mechanisms and usually cannot be achieved by a single type of allocation mechanism. Therefore, we aim to develop a generic approach to resource allocation in Grids able to support multiple cohabitating auctions. We claim that resource allocation frameworks may deal with heterogeneity by means of flexibility and configurability and they have to provide functionalities by which the allocation mechanism should be configured and adapted to application requirements and resource providers needs. This paper presents a configurable auction server architecture that enables dynamic configuration of markets so as to adapt them to the requirement of their initiators.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114707503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
