Clustering sensor nodes is an effective topology control method to reduce energy consumption of sensor nodes. Studies of clustering algorithm usually focus on the whole lifetime but ignore the stable time (the time at which the first node dies) in WSN. This study proposes a clustering algorithm which aims to improve the stability and extend the lifetime of the network simultaneously by balancing and reducing the energy consumption for each node in WSN. The proposed algorithm is based on an improved Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) which is a multi-objective optimization algorithm to achieve several goals. Five objective functions are used to optimize energy consumption and load balance. In the improved NSGA-II, a weight value is adopted to evaluate the clustering solutions after the crowding distance to sort the individuals in every generation more reasonably. Clustered RRM and IM provides a feasibility mechanism to solve this problem. However, how to properly form SCS cluster has not been well studied. We believe that small cells clustering is an effective method to simplify the topology of ultra-dense network. The trend of clustering approach is lower complexity and user-centric. In this paper, we propose a user-centric adaptive small-cell clustering scheme based on improved K-means algorithm. This method recovers the optical wireless channel features and estimates the location of mobile terminal by these features. In order to reduce the computation complexity of the fingerprint-based positioning method, the proposed method combines triangulation and the nearest neighbor fingerprint algorithm. Firstly, triangulation is used to determine the cluster of probable locations of mobile terminal. The most probable location of mobile terminal within the cluster is then estimated by the nearest neighbor fingerprint algorithm. Therefore, an efficient management of energy for routing scheme is essential to prolonging the network lifetime, which is a NP-hard problem to overcome. In this paper, we propose an adaptive multi-hop routing algorithm (AMRA) to reduce the energy consumption and get energy balance in the whole network based on Harmony Search Algorithm. The studies on AMRA employ a novel encoding scheme to transform multi-hop routing path into unequal matrix. To control the convergence speed and precision, AMRA adopts dynamic parameters and new search method to strengthen the local and global harmony search ability. The fitness function taking energy consumption, path length and residual energy into consideration tries to find the global optimal solution. By using the matrix characteristics of LWE, this algorithm preserved the linear structure of CS. Efficiency analysis shows that it has acceptable increment on cost comparing to CS.
