Material and Methods: Forty specimens (cylindrical-shaped, 5 mm in diameter and height) were milled from both CAD/CAM blocks (20 specimens from each block type). Forty sound upper premolars were sectioned to the level of peripheral dentin, then randomly divided into four groups (n = 10): A1: GC Initial LiSi without adhesive enhancing primer; B1: Cerasmart 270 without adhesive enhancing primer; A2: GC Initial LiSi with adhesive enhancing primer; B2: Cerasmart 270 group with adhesive enhancing primer application. The CAD/CAM blocks were cemented on teeth using a self-adhesive resin cement (G-cem one). The shear bond strength was assessed using a computerized universal testing machine. A digital microscope was used to study the mode of failure. The shear bond strength values data were analyzed statistically using paired t-test and independent t-test at the significance level of (0.05). Results: A significant difference was shown in the shear bond strength values among groups (P =0.000). The highest shear bond strength value was revealed in group A2, while group B1 exhibited the lowest shear bond strength value. Conclusion: Using the adhesive enhancing primer on the tooth’s surface improved the resin cement’s bond strength to CAD/CAM blocks. Additionally, GC Initial LiSi exhibited higher bond strength than Cerasmart 270, with or without the primer. Material and Methods: the retrospective longitudinal study consisted of 273 participants undergoing Dental Clinic of the AACD (Disabled Child Assistance Association), divided into three groups according to age: Group 1 (G1: 0 to 5 years and 11 months; n=137), Group 2 (G2: 6 to 11 years and 11 months; n=85) and Group 3 (G3: 12 to 17 years and 11 months; n=51). Sociodemographic, data, clinical pattern of cerebral palsy and use of medication were collected, evaluating the gingival condition by the gingival index and the type of dental treatment before the pandemic and during, nine months after the interruption of dental care. Chi-square, Fisher Exact and Kruskal-Wallis (a = 5%) tests were used. Results: the groups were homogeneous in terms of sex (p=0.4581), race (p=0.1725), clinical pattern (p=0.3482) and use of antiepileptic drugs (p=0.3509). Regarding the gingival condition, in the period during the pandemic, there was a reduction in the number of participants with Gingival Index scores 0 and 1 and an increase in participants with scores 2 and 3 (p<0.05). As for the procedures performed, the three groups showed a reduction in preventive procedures (p<0.05) and an increase in surgical, periodontal and restorative procedures (p<0.05). Conclusion: it is concluded that the interruption of dental care for nine months during the COVID-19 pandemic in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy had a negative impact on oral health. Aloe vera has antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, and regenerative effects. Glucommannan increases collagen synthesis and aids healing after ginivectomy treatment. Natural mouthwashes may offer gingival wound healing efficacy with reduced side-effects when compared to Chlorhexidine. Objective: the objective of this clinical study was to compare the effects on wound healing of a one-week Aloe vera mouthwash with chlorhexidine mouthwash before gingivectomy surgical therapy. Material and Methods: a total of 45 individuals experiencing inflammatory gingival enlargement were included in the study. They underwent professional mechanical plaque removal and were then randomly divided into three groups. In group I, comprising 15 patients, participants were advised to utilize 100% Aloe vera juice as a mouthwash twice daily. Group II, also consisting of 15 patients, was instructed to use Chlorhexidine (0.2%) mouthwash twice daily. The Control group, which consisted of 15 patients, was recommended to use a placebo mouth rinse in addition to mechanical plaque removal. During the second visit, which occurred one week after the initial visit, the enlarged gingival tissue was surgically removed through scalpel gingivectomy. Immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis was performed on the excised tissue to measure the levels of fibroblast growth factor-2. Results: when compared to the control group, Aloe vera showed significant differences regarding the expression of fibroblast growth factor-2(FGF-2), and highly significant differences in angiogenesis. At the same time, there were substantial differences in angiogenesis with no significant differences in the expression of FGF2 between Chlorhexidine and control groups. Conclusion: aloe vera has exhibited potential wound-healing effects as it significantly affected the IHC expression of FGF2 and angiogenesis when used as an adjunct to plaque control before gingivectomy surgical therapy. Material and Methods: Sixty single-canaled mandibular premolars were accessed and randomly divided into three groups (n= 20) according to the file used for glid path creation; group A using Traverse file, group B using WaveOne Gold Glider, group C using stainless steel K file. All teeth were then instrumented using the Reciproc system. The debris extruded apically during instrumentation were collected into pre-weighed Eppendorf tubes which were then stored in an incubator at 70 °C for 5 days. The weight of the dry extruded debris was established by subtracting the pre-instrumentation and post-instrumentation weights of the Eppendorf tubes. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA test, and post hoc analysis. Results: WaveOne Gold Glider produced the least amount of apical extruded debris (0.41±0.25) followed by the Traverse group (0.59±0.20) then the K-file group (0.64±0.16) with a statistically significant difference (p=0.003). Conclusion: Apical extrusion of debris is inevitable during root canal cleaning and shaping. Creation of glide path using engine-driven files produces less amount of apically extruded debris compared to hand-driven K-files.","PeriodicalId":37577,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Dental Science","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75866140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
