Therefore, bush pepper cultivation was developed by replacing climbing trees with 1.5 m high concrete. However, seedlings that can grow into bush pepper are cuttings from fruit branches and primary branches, which are difficult to grow because the nodes of these branches do not have root primordia. This study aimed to obtain cuttings that can grow into bush pepper on the most superior growing media. The experiment was arranged using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatment factors, namely formulas of growth media (M1= soil + organic fertilizer + husk; M2= soil + organic fertilizer + compost; M3= soil + organic fertilizer + husk ash; and M4= soil + organic fertilizer + moss) and sources of cuttings (S1= climbing stem; S2= axillary branch; S3= fruit branch; and S4= primary branch with one main stem node). Based on the growth percentage of fruit branches and primary branches in the seedlings, cuttings from climbing stem and axillary branches were not able to grow into bush pepper, because fruit and primary branches only grew less than 5% in all media formulas. Cuttings from fruit branches and primary branches affect the formation of bush pepper with an average percentage of growth of fruit branches and primary branches of more than 95% on M2 and M3 media. Growth of buds, leaves and roots of cuttings from climbing stem and axillary branch was significantly better than cuttings from fruit branches and primary branches.","PeriodicalId":375111,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Horticulture, Agriculture and Food science","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126392109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A trial for investigating responses of several varieties of soybean to co-inoculation with Rhizobium and mycorrhiza biofertilizers has been carried out in East Lombok, Indonesia, from August to October 2022. The Randomized Block Design was used to arrange the two treatment factors tested, i.e. biofertilizer application (B0= without biofertilizer; B1= Rhizobium inoculant; B2: co-inoculation of soybean with Rhizobium and mycorrhiza biofertilizers) and soybean varieties (V1= Detap, V2: Biosoy-2, V3= Dena-1). The trial was made in three blocks (replications). The variables included plant height, trifoliate number, root volume, and biomass yield and pod number as a yield potential. Results indicated that co-inoculation several varieties of soybean with Rhizobium and mycorrhiza biofertilizer increased yield potential of soybean in dryland as indicated by higher nodule number, trifoliate number, pod number and biomass yield of soybean, especially of Detap (V1) and Dena-1 (V3) varieties under co-inoculation treatment (B2), compared to inoculation with Rhizobium only (B1) or unioculated control (B0). Further studies on more varieties of soybean need to be conducted in different types of soil to find out the most responsive varieties to co-inoculation with Rhizobium and mycorrhiza biofertilizer to increase soybean productivity especially in dryland areas.","PeriodicalId":375111,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Horticulture, Agriculture and Food science","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131867041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With diverse agro-climatic condition, varied soil and low temperature with wide regional variation, this region is highly suitable for cultivation of apple. This article focuses on the importance of apple fruit, its utilization and the economic profitability from apple crop based farming system. Research survey of farmers producing apple was conducted in 2022. Total of one hundred thirty (132) apple producers were selected using random sampling methods. The result shows BCR was estimated to be 1.95, which was found greater than unity. This showed that the apple farming is quite profitable in Thanamir. The finding shows that Cobb-Douglas production function exhibits increasing return to scale. The study concluded that apple cultivation can be made viable enterprise with increased focus on investment climate by subsidising farm input, providing affordable loans to the farmers for a sustainable production and strengthening rural infrastructure. The study pointed out that the apple cultivation could be a highly beneficial and market-oriented activity in Thanamir.","PeriodicalId":375111,"journal":{"name":"International journal of Horticulture, Agriculture and Food science","volume":"327 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123555964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fresh strawberries contain high levels of vitamin C. During storage, it is easily oxidized because it is unstable, causing a decrease in vitamin C levels. The unstable nature of vitamin C is a problem that needs attention and proper postharvest handling is given to maintain the vitamin C content in strawberries. The purpose of this study is to maintain the vitamin C content of strawberries after storage by using ozone water immersion treatment with different storage periods. The research method used is a factorial Completely Randomized Design with a factorial pattern. The first factor is ozone (0 ppm, 0.05 ppm, 0.08 ppm, and 0.1 ppm). The second factor is fruit storage temperature (27°C and 10°C). The results showed that during storage of strawberry vitamin C there was an increase and decrease. The initial content of vitamin C in strawberries used is 927.13 mg/100g, increased to 1350.03 mg/100g in the ozone treatment of 0.05 ppm at 10°C storage and decreased to 0.08 ppm ozone treatment at 10°C storage to 848, 39mg/100g. The best treatment that can maintain vitamin C levels and increase vitamin C levels during storage is treatment with 0.05 ppm ozone with 10°C storage. A total of 240 Duroc-LandraceYorkshire piglets weaned at 25 days were randomly assigned to 4 treated groups and 1 control group. Piglets of Group I was fed with basal diets supplemented with 1.6 mg/kg nMn, 20 mg/kg nFe, 2 mg/kg nCu, 0.1 mg/kg Co, 0.1 mg/kg nSe, and 20 mg/kg nZn. The nano mineral content of Group II, III, and IV were 2, 4, and 8-fold higher than Group I, respectively. The results showed that the higher concentration of mineral nano particles supplementation (group III and IV) associated with the higher live weight gain. The piglet from group IV showed a highest live weight gain (36.68 ± 0.34 kg) comparing to other groups (P < 0.01). All groups of treatment with mineral nano particles supplementation showed the lower feed conversion ratio comparing to control group. There was no significant difference in the feed conversion ratio of piglet from group I (2.85 ± 0.08), group II (2.69 ± 0.13), group III (2.73 ± 0.03), and group IV (2.69 ± 0.07).
