However, a stringent persistent-excitation (PE) condition usually has to be satisfied to achieve parameter convergence in adaptive control. In this paper, a least-squares learning control strategy without regressor filtering is presented to achieve parameter convergence at the absence of the PE condition. An additional modified modeling error that utilizes online recorded data is constructed to update parametric estimates, and an integral transformation is derived to avoid the time differentiation of plant states in the computation of the modified modeling error. An indirect adaptive control law equipped with a novel filtering-free least-squares estimation is proposed to guarantee exponential convergence of both tracking errors and parameter estimation errors by an interval-excitation (IE) condition which is much weaker than the PE condition. An illustrative example has verified effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"11 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123667395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the comparative study of the LS method and the ALEs based method in an application of the NOFRFs based mechanical damage detection. The two methods are respectively introduced and employed to evaluate the NOFRFs, which are capable of indicating the growth of damage in the mechanical system; then, the two methods are compared using the damage evolution results of the corresponding NOFRFs. A series of comparative experiments with different system input amplitudes are carried out. The experiment results expose limitations of both methods for the NOFRFs based damage detection.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116737681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A forward regression orthogonal least square (FROLS) algorithm, initially developed in control and systems engineering area, is employed to build the transparent models. Based on over 10000 surveyed samples with 42 variables from UK Understanding Society Data, a number of significant variables of lifestyle have been selected first according to the rank of their contribution to explaining life satisfaction. As an example, a reduced simple nonlinear model with only 12 model terms is presented. This model is meaningful in that it provides a parsimonious representation of the relationship between happiness and lifestyle, reveals how life satisfaction quantitatively depends on lifestyle, and how the lifestyle variables interactively affect life satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124058179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel definition of quasi-consensus is proposed to reflect the consensus process where, at each time instant, all the agents are constrained to stay within a certain ellipsoidal region. The measurement output available for the controller is not only from the individual agent itself but also from its neighboring ones according to the given topology. A new deception attack model is proposed, where the attack signals are injected by the adversary to the measurement data during the process of information transmission via the communication network. By using a set of recursive matrix inequalities, sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of the desired control scheme for achieving the quasi-consensus. Subsequently, an optimization problem is formulated to seek the locally best consensus performance.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133176692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The deregulation of the electricity market and the emergence of the Microgrids and Smartgrids made the open communication infrastructure an exigent need for future power system. In this case the load frequency control signals will be exchanged through communication network. The communication network is characterized by variable time delay which may lead to system instability. This paper investigates the stability of load frequency control system in islanded micro-grid with the presence of the time delay. The stability analysis is based on solving a set of linear matrix inequalities. Also, the effects of the controller gains and time delay variation rate on the maximum allowable delay bound are investigated.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133597856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then, the map is used for room recognition during the revisits based on appearance by applying a convolutional neural network. An event-triggered scheme that schedules the transmissions between the sensor and the remote estimator is introduced so as to preserve the network resources. The communication process is assumed to suffer from the missing measurement phenomenon described by a Bernoulli distribution. Additionally, the random estimator gain perturbations are considered in the realization of state estimation problems. To deal with such issues, we propose an event-triggered resilient filter algorithm. Note that the analytical expressions of the error covariance of the proposed filter cannot be computed directly. Consequently, we construct its upper bound as an alternative and subsequently design the suboptimal filter gains in order that such a bound is minimized at each step. The effectiveness of the proposed filtering algorithm is illustrated by a numerical simulation.","PeriodicalId":375052,"journal":{"name":"2016 22nd International Conference on Automation and Computing (ICAC)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124449243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
