The fruits were assessed for moisture content, ash content, and heavy metal concentrations, specifically lead (Pb) and manganese (Mn). The moisture content values obtained for pineapple (81.3% ± 0.8), papaya (75.8% ± 1), banana (76% ± 0.5), and mango (83.8% ± 1) indicate varying levels of water content in these fruits. In terms of ash content, the values measured for pineapple (0.66% ± 1), papaya (1% ± 0.5), banana (1.6% ± 1), and mango (2.3% ± 1) indicate the ash content present in these fruits. The concentrations of lead and manganese in the fruit samples were within acceptable ranges, with values for lead ranging from 0.04 ppm to 0.08 ppm, and values for manganese ranging from 0.002 ppm to 0.006 ppm. These results assure the safety of these fruits for consumption. However, further research is recommended to explore factors affecting fruit composition, such as varietal differences and environmental conditions. These findings emphasize the importance of sourcing fruits from reputable suppliers and practicing proper fruit handling and storage. Overall, including these fruits in a balanced diet provides essential nutrients and contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Continuous monitoring and research are crucial to ensure the quality and safety of these fruits for long-term consumption.\u0000","PeriodicalId":374350,"journal":{"name":"Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry","volume":"12 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141813843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are rich in sugar, vitamins, and minerals like iron, copper, potassium, folate minerals, and vitamins A, B, and C which are essential for giving the body the nutrients it needs to stay healthy since fruits contain vital mineral components like copper (Cu), iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn), which is necessary for human growth and respiration. However, they may have heavy metals which may poison health risk and toxic even the presence is in little amount. Since fruit juices doesn’t pass through different processes, except extracting the liquid from the fruits of vegetables contamination and heavy metals affect human health. Before determination of heavy metals different procedures are applied for analysis. Digestion is the key component for determination of heavy metals from different samples. In this paper we are concerned on wet digestion methods for analysis. Closed system wet digestion is preferred since it lower the risk of contamination. There are different wet digestion types. Some of them are conventional wet digestion, ultraviolet digestion, ultrasound-assisted acid decomposition, conventional heating, microwave-assisted wet digestion etc. From thus, microwave digestion procedure was preferred for the digestion of samples for determination of heavy metals due to its ability to oxidize almost all of the organic samples.\u0000","PeriodicalId":374350,"journal":{"name":"Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140245791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

F cass. composite) is an oil seed crop found wildly and in some areas cultivated at middle and higher geographical locations in Nigeria and other African countries. The objectives of this research were to among other things determine the physicochemical properties, proximate composition, and chemical constituents. Standard methods for physicochemical properties, proximate analysis and GC/MS was used to determine the chemical constituents. The physicochemical properties revealed acid value 0.455 mg/KOH/g. The percentage yield was 21.34%. The saponification value was 33.10 mg of KOH/kg. Peroxide value revealed 16.35 meq/KOH/kg. The iodine value was 66.83g/100g. The Specific gravity was 0.9246 and the viscosity was 25.3 mPa.s. A proximate composition 6.95% of moisture content, ash content was 3.05%, crude protein was 21.72%, crude fat was 24.4%, crude fibre was 29.5%, dry matter content was 93.50% and organic matter content was 96.95%. The chemical constituents revealed 9, 12-Octadecadienoic acid (31.80%) as the predominant unsaturated fatty acid in the seed oil while Dodecanoic acid (Lauric acid) (3.46%) is the predominant saturated fatty acid. The concentration of Zn in the samples was (1.146±0.00 µg/g), is higher than the other metals (Cu, Fe, Ni, and Pb), Ni and Pb were not detected in the sample. Guizotia scabra seed oil from Plateau state is therefore good for consumption due to it low acid value, good protein content, good amount of unsaturated fatty acid, low concentration of heavy metals and some phytochemicals.","PeriodicalId":374350,"journal":{"name":"Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116010221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting insoluble barium sulfate compound reduces the initial concentration of barium chloride. The amount of barium chloride remaining in the solution is determined on the specially designed flame spectrophotometric analyzer. This allows you to calculate the amount of sulfate ions associated with barium, which is automatically performed by the device program. The range of reliably determined concentrations of sulfate ions by the proposed method in water samples ranged from 10 to 100 mg/dm 3 . The range of reliably determined concentrations of sulfate ions in aqueous extracts from soils ranged from 0.2 to 2.4 C (1/2SO4) mol/dm 3 (from 10 to 115 mg/dm 3 ). Higher concentrations of sulfate ions must be diluted multiple times with distilled water. The method makes it possible to determine the concentration of sulfate ions in aqueous soil extracts, freshwater reservoirs and rivers, underground sources, tap water, sediments contaminated with sulfuric acid emissions from industrial enterprises. The method is quite simple, accurate and productive. The method is certified by the State Ural Research Institute of Metrology (MVI-66373620-007-2018) and approved by the Federal Agency for technical regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart), as a standard method under No. 253.0080/RA. RU.311866/2019. Patent No. 2681855 of the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property with priority dated September 15, 2017 was obtained for the method for determining sulfur in the form of a sulfate ion in an aqueous extract from soils and the equipment necessary for this. Detailed methods for determining sulfate ions in these objects are published in the open press in the book: \"Determination of agrochemical and chemical parameters of soils, plants and aquatic environments using flow-decade analysis technology\" edited by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences R. The absorption and fluorescence spectral characteristics of pABA were reported in aqueous micellar environments (SDS, CTAB and TW 80) at different pHs. The neutral and monoanion form of pABA is present at both pHs 3 and 7 respectively. The blue shifted fluorescence maximum was accompanied by a great raise in intensity at pH 3 whereas at pH 7 the emission intensity a little increase with increasing micelles concentration. In the acidic medium, the CMC value is increased when compared to neutral solution. The strength of interaction between pABA-micelles at both pHs was estimated using Hirose - Sepulveda equation and these calculated values was further used to estimate the free energy change of the interaction from the fluorescence data. These results from the absorption and fluorescence spectra of pABA well explained that the nature of force and location of probe in ionic micelles and non-ionic micelles at different pHs.","PeriodicalId":374350,"journal":{"name":"Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121481081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study assesses heavy metals contamination of sediments of the Mgoua River in Douala, Cameroon. The Geoaccumulation Index (Igeo), the Contamination Factor (FC), the Sediment Pollution Index (SPI), the Enrichment Factor (EF) and the Pollution Load Index (PLI) were used to assess the contamination risk. The mean concentration of Ti, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, As, Cd, Zn, Pb, U, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Mo, Mn, Fe, Cs and Ba in sediments was 12601.08, 111.96, 151.93, 9.47, 65.43, 161.81, 7.55, 2.27, 419.30, 248.30, 49.30, 12.65, 89.50, 39.69, 3017.52, 5.95, 313.26, 39667.32, 0.97 and 243.19 µg/l, respectively. Heavy metals concentrations in sediments creased in the following order: U < Cs < Cd < Mo < As < Co < Rb < Y < Ni < Sr < V < Cr < Cu < Ba < Pb < Mn < Zn < Ti < Fe. The Igeo, CF and EF indicate a polymetallic contamination dominated by Cu, Cd and Pb being the most important in all studied sites. The value of SPI varied between 10.95 and 37.84, suggesting that the sediments are moderately to highly polluted, with PLI higher than 1. These indices reveal that the sediments of Mgoua river catchment were polluted with most of the heavy metals. The high concentrations of some of the metals were due to anthropogenic sources particularly the discharge of untreated industrial wastes in to watercourses. This study can therefore be used as a reference to monitor the quality of sediments of the Mgoua river.","PeriodicalId":374350,"journal":{"name":"Science Journal of Analytical Chemistry","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121217882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
