This paper will present a newer version of the “flipping” and also how a total of eight groups utilized tree different types of simulators to play the scenarios. The scenarios were developed by the student themselves as this was their mandatory assignment. The mandatory assignment was handed out in January. The assignment was about making a playable script for an incident, in addition to conduct the planning, execution and evaluation of a complete exercise in crisis management. They were given feedback once before the workshop where they presented and played the script. The tools that were used was Rayvn (https://rayvn.global/), Microsoft HoloLens (https://www.microsoft.com/nb-no/hololens) and a simulator based on a platform from Bohemia Interactive Solutions (https://bisimulations.com/) - the same platform as Virtual Battle Space 3 uses. Rayvn is an incident management tool, mainly for communication. The written messages can then be logged and stored for later reflections. Microsoft HoloLens is a tool for 3D vision, a tool that can show environments in 3D and allow the player to carry out operations using movements that are recorded and executed. This was a prototype. The game based simulator is computer based. The different views are 2D maps and 3D environments. The players use the keyboard and mouse to move the vehicles and avatars around. This in a “disaster town”, called “Lyngvik”, a very poor planned city centre with a large accident/crisis potential. The study is based on the previous study of the learning outcome from assignment that is based on student input. The mandatory assignment was to develop a playable scenario and they could choose in which of the three different simulation tools they were to play their scenario. Two by two, the groups are to play each other’s scenario. They have received some supervision and the lecturers have remarked on that the students may lack insight in what a “playable scenario” require. One of the groups operates as the exercise management staff(the ones that makes the incidents happen and “play out”) and the other group is the ones who man the different roles in handling the scenario e.g., —- different call out services. This group is also calledmain training audience (MTA). The students are in their 6th and last semester in their Bachelor in Crisis Management. The students have been subjected to diverse teaching methods, but this is the first time they have a simulation tool to work with in order to enhance their learning outcome. The preliminary reports from the reflections after the simulating are very positive. The students report on a learning outcome, both from making the scenarios and from simulating. There is also a final report to be written where the students are to reflect on their learning outcome from the simulation and the work on the assignment. The paper shows the resul","PeriodicalId":373842,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126384161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Education and training must be acquired throughout life, hence the need to change the teaching-learning processes. The Bologna Process introduced new paradigms that resulted in curricula revisions, the reorganization of teaching-learning processes, the structuring of courses and curricular units. It shifted the teaching process to a new form that enhances and assesses the acquisition of learning skills based on the work performed by the students. It is student-centered teaching, where it is essential to define the intended levels of knowledge, how the students achieve them, and if they reach the necessary skills in each of those levels. Each student needs to be motivated to learn and to participate in the activities, which presupposes meaningful activities to arouse the interest in developing them. The purpose of this paper is to describe a design project, its implementation, orientation and effectiveness in problem-based learning (PBL). Another purpose is the establishment of a relationship between the Bologna process and the implicit implications in the structure of teaching and training in lighting projects. This paper presents a proposal of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) using DIALux evo software. It is part of the learning methodology, supported by computer simulation for lighting projects, in the Electrical Installation and Lighting Engineering Master’s Degree in Service Engineering of Construction, 1st semester of the 1st year, in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Institute of Engineering of Coimbra (ISEC). PBL combined with Flipped Classroom is used as a pedagogical strategy to enable higher education students to approach problems, in groups and with the supervision of a teacher, in order to acquire specialized knowledge. The implementation of the PBL method aimed at bringing education and learning closer to the professional reality of the future engineers.","PeriodicalId":373842,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121507922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As these technologies are rapidly evolving, it is natural that approaches to the implementation of robotics in teaching must vary. The paper presents two studies, one of them conducted in Taiwan and the other in Slovakia. Due to the diversity of cultures, the different robotic kits used, and also other factors affecting the course of research, the studies differ to some extent. Nevertheless, the conclusions in which both studies agree are that educational robotics brings elements into learning that are motivating to pupils, they stimulate their interest in discovering and exploring, develop various skills such as communication, collaboration, fine motor skills, etc. In an interactive way they also demonstrate the results of the pupils’ programs. Pupils find this attractive that can lead to better understanding of the program.","PeriodicalId":373842,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130099937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some variables of participant's reflections were significant for the regression model of the final exam scores when a step-wise variable selection procedure was introduced. The fitness of the model which introduced reflection indices is higher than the fitness of models which are formulated without reflection. As the effectiveness of variables of participant's reflections is significant for both linear and logistic regression models, the contribution of factors of reflection on the prediction of learning performance was confirmed.","PeriodicalId":373842,"journal":{"name":"2018 17th International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129093470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A set of micro-controlling hardware was chosen such that not only the controlling and coding barriers are acceptable to the teachers but that their pupils can also adopt the easy-to-use hardware and software to create STEM projects in primary schools. The hands-on training seeks to broaden their technological experiences in various interfacing and sensing activities. The coding challenge is reduced by introducing visual programming, thereby allowing the learners to focus on real- world problems in the STEM disciplines.
