The diameter of the coreless PCB transformer is merely 0.46 cm. Because of the high frequency (8 MHz) operation involved, the gate drive electronics has to be soft-switched in order to achieve high energy efficiency and reduce the gate drive power consumption. The very thin PCB used in the converter facilitates energy coupling from the primary winding to the secondary side of the transformer. The output voltage can be regulated and programmable. However, in general, complex calculations are necessary to estimate the rotor speed. In this paper, an original sensorless field-oriented control method for induction motor using easy and simple speed estimation is presented. In the proposed method, the motor speed is estimated by measuring the command frequency and the phase difference between the stator current vector and the stator voltage vector. By comparing the measured values with a table of data measured beforehand, the rotor speed can be estimated satisfactorily through simple calculations. However, there are control limits in this method. This paper describes the application of adaptive neuro-fuzzy logic based speed control of induction motor drive. The Conventional PI/PID controller is replaced by fuzzy controller in speed control loop. Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) which tunes the fuzzy inference system with a backpropagation algorithm based on collection of input-output data is implemented. This enables the fuzzy system to learn. This training is given from a standard response data of the system and membership functions are suitably modified. The design of this ANFIS based fuzzy controller is presented. Simulation study indicates the superiority of fuzzy controllers over the conventional control method. The modified ANFIS controller is implemented using DSP. The test results are presented.
