Applications for such a system include radio astronomy, where deleterious levels of interference from satellites enter through sidelobes. However the prior work was limited to placing single nulls with no constraint on main lobe characteristics, leading to gain which varies as a function of null direction. In this work, we consider simulated annealing as a means of placing nulls simultaneously with enforcement of a gain constraint. The closed form relations are derived and verified via 3D electromagnetic simulation. The antenna performance has been studied by changing periodic metasurface structure using SRRs on the ground plane. It has been shown that the proposed method enhances the gain and directivity of the multiband antenna structure. I knew Tapan for nearly five decades and had many fruitful discussions with him on all kinds of EM topics including rapid evaluation of the Sommerfeld Half-Space Integral, Integral Equations, and MoM, Near Field Measurement Techniques, etc. What I vividly remember was his keen interest to constantly explore out-of-the-box solutions in dealing with advanced numerical techniques and their practical implementations for solving antennas and scattering problems. Ironically we shared some similar experiences by participating in enormous numbers of national and international conferences and presenting papers in the same sessions and contributing to many committee meetings together and the list goes on and on. Four1 × 4 sub-arrays, namely low-band horizontally polarized (LB H-pol) array, high-band horizontally polarized (HB H-pol) array, low-band vertically polarized (LB V-pol) array and high-band vertically polarized (HB V-pol) array, are designed on a 12-layer laminate with total dimensions of 25 mm×6 mm×0.97 mm. The LB arrays achieve reflection coefficients of less than -10 dB from 24 – 30 GHz, and the HB arrays can operate from 37 – 43 GHz. Special techniques are used to reduce the mutual couplings between elements and enhance the array gain. Each sub-array features peak gain of more than 9.7 dBi at its center frequency. Through a conformal coordinate transformation, the physical space in which the HMS resides is mapped to a computational space, in which the surface geometry is significantly simpler. The mapping preserves the boundary conditions governing the field transformations, meaning any previously developed design methods for flat HMSs remain valid. A parametric study is carried out to demonstrate the tunability of the band-reject region. It is found that to correctly enforce the CC, the equivalent surface current on both faces of the PEC should be distinguished. For this purpose, the combined field integral equation (CFIE) is proposed to model the open PEC part.
