Abstract

A volumetric resonant structure is embedded inside an otherwise wideband (6–36 GHz) biconical antenna (bicone) to achieve band rejection within its wide instantaneous bandwidth. The parameters of this structure are chosen such a notch with a 3dB return loss is formed between 16.8 and 18.2 GHz. A parametric study is carried out to demonstrate the tunability of the band-reject region. A bicone is designed for fabrication with stereolithography followed by electroplating.
