Tourism, as an extremely sensitive branch, is unquestionably the most affected sector. The Republic of Croatia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, has continuously had an increase in tourist traffic in the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays until the moment of the pandemic crisis. The aim of this paper is to consider the consequences on tourist flows on the example of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Tuzla County and the Republic of Croatia – SisakMoslavina County. The questionnaire consisted of two sections: respondent profile and importance of local restaurants gastronomic offer for the future of rural tourism. Based on respondents answers, it could be concluded that local restaurants gastronomic offer is very important for the future of rural tourism, but that the offer in villages of Knić municipality is modest. Gastronomic offer of households offering accommodation is much better than local restaurant gastronomic offer. Quality, autenticity, serving and food decoration in local restaurants gastronomic offer were not estimated as good. These changes have not bypassed the tourism industry, which is disproportionately more affected than other economic activities, due to numerous restrictions imposed on passengers and companies for the transport of goods and passengers. In order for the tourism economy to recover as quickly as possible and establish stable business, it is necessary to overcome current obstacles through the implementation of inventive solutions. Thus, the paper focuses on main obstacles imposed by COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions on tourism industry and their influence on tourism business model which has been called into question. The goal of the paper is to analyze key factors affecting the tourism industry, as well as to produce possible directions for future development after the establishment of normal conditions in the tourism market. The transformational role of the 4IR technologies has huge potential effect on managing protected areas. Using new technologies in ecotourism and tourism in protected areas will greatly improve management of protected areas. In this paper we analyzed dominant technological trends and key concepts in tourism industry. We also presented case study of the applying new technologies in SNR Zasavica in Serbia. In future, the new concepts and the Smart Tourism paradigm will transform the ecotourism and tourism of protected areas in the way of creating fully automated technological ecosystem intended for managing sustainability of the protected areas environment. On the other hand, demographic changes, such as population ageing, also affect the demand side of the hotel business. The aim of this paper is to highlight the characteristics of a new business environment, often referred to as “new normal”, and to provide implications for hotel managers how to succeed in such an environment. The study reveals that the “new normal” business context demands changes in marketing approach, risk management and supply chain management. Accordingly, attention is drawn to the concepts of customisation, diversification and agility. Making hotel services accessible to a wider population is considered as a potential for improving hotel performance, as elderly and disabled population represent significant market segment which is often neglected. Sedlak","doi":"10.52370/tisc2263am","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52370/tisc2263am","url":null,"abstract":"The main goal of this paper is to find out a possible increase in efficiency on the basis of data from the previous period - which refers to investments in various elements of tourist destinations. In this studyit would be done by the evaluation of relative technical efficiency of tourism sector in 24 Serbian regions using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The evaluation will enable an analysis of how to influence the increase of tourism efficiency in the future, based on results from the recent past. On the side of output two variables were used in the DEA model: number of tourists and number of overnight stays. Furthermore, four input variables were used: annual average share of employment in accommodation and food service activities, annual average share of employment in arts, entertainment and recreation, investments in accommodation and food service activities and investments in arts, entertainment and recreation. Output oriented DEA model with variable return to scale has been solved and results show that relative efficiency score values are between 10% and 100%. Average efficiency score is 81%, which indicate that majority of Serbian regions obtained high efficiency score values. It will turn out that investments can be crucial for the development of tourism, but there are also barriers, limitations in this type of analysis. The demand of procuring ways for cultural/education institutions to establish a more dynamic approach to their users and consumers has overgrown the development of digital presence and rethinking of the physical encounters occurring in the “new normal” was instigated.
