This paper proposes two schemes, one for general OLA transmission and one specifically for upstream routing in the topology of wireless sensor networks, that each save over 50% of the energy of flooding. The OLA-T scheme uses a transmission threshold to suppress nodes that would make weak contributions. The OLA Concentric Routing Algorithm (OLACRA) takes advantage of the concentric ring structure of broadcast OLAs to limit flooding on the upstream connection. The wireless channels are decomposed into several eigenmodes, and the eigenmode based power allocation is formulated into an optimization problem, whose object is to maximize the system capacity while guaranteeing users' QoS requirements. By replacing the QoS constraints with penalty functions, the problem is reformulated to a penalty problem with a given penalty factor, which is solved by a greedy power allocation (GPA) scheme as the inner loop. The penalty factor is then updated in the outer loop according to QoS constraints. Given the user queue-states and long-term channel statistics, the proposed persistent scheduling algorithm allocates the minimum resources to 'just' meet the deadlines for DS packets (QoS guarantee). The remaining resources are optimally split between the users for their BE data to maximize sum-rate, minimize buffer holding cost or any general utility function. We formulate the resource allocation problem as a single geometric program (GP) that can be solved using standard convex optimization software tools. While much attention has been given to the node mobility impacts, little has been done to investigate the influence of dynamic channel fadings and the joint effects of the interactions among radio channels, transmission range, node mobility and node-pair distance on link statistics. In this paper, we investigate the link stability and availability by using a distance transition probability matrix of a relative distance between two nodes. Our analysis takes the node effective transmission range Re into account. The relative node movement is based on the Semi-Markov Smooth (SMS) mobility model [1] which captures the smooth node speed (V) transition and the radio channel variations in a small time- scale. We show that the PDF of link lifetime in MANETs can be effectively approximated by the exponential distribution characterized by the parameter V/Re. Moreover, we And that the impacting factors on residual link lifetime are in the decreasing order of node speed, transmission range, node-pair distance. The scheduling order in a DVB-S2 link will determine the order in which IP packets are transmitted to the receivers and thus determines the amount of required padding and sub-optimal transmissions. The validity of the model is investigated by various simulation runs which show a very close agreement with the theoretical model. With their inherent broadcast capabilities, the broadband satellite networks are regarded as a promising platform for delivering multimedia services. For these systems, it is highly desired that the available resources can be utilized in an optimized way. Packet scheduling schemes play a key role in providing various QoS support for provisioning multimedia services. By taking into account essential aspects of QoS provisioning whilst preserving the system power/resource constraints, the proposed Adaptive Multi-dimensional QoS-based (AMQ) packet scheduling scheme aims to effectively satisfy diverse QoS requirements and adaptively optimize the resource utilization for satellite multimedia broadcasting. Many PAPR reduction techniques have been proposed in the literature, among them a method that uses a subset of tones that do not carry any data, but are modulated such that the PAPR of the resulting time domain signal is minimized. Another problem of OFDM systems is the high out-of-band power caused by the sidelobes of the modulated tones. The OBP can be reduced by modulating reserved tones at the edges of the occupied spectrum so that the sidelobes of the data carriers are reduced. In this paper, we propose to consider both optimization problems jointly. This way, the amount of PAPR and OBP reduction can be significantly enhanced in comparison to a system that performs two separate optimization steps. Born as a wireless extension of small office or home networks, todays the WLANs are getting more and more popular as a large, even metropolitan, area networks. The deployment of large-scale WLANs has some critical issues, because of the lack of coordinated management functionalities among the network nodes. In this paper we briefly describe the CAPWAP architectural solution, for centralizing some control and maintenance functionalities in large scale WLAN, by guaranteeing the interoperability between network nodes provided by different vendors. We also investigate on a simple and efficient application for optimizing the wireless network resources, which is possible thanks to the centralization of some control operations.
