Agreement based resource management in service environment enable service provider to know customer demand in advance and allocate the required resources for the service. However, traditional resource management scheduling systems for the service model have tended to be statically configured and to be non-adaptive at runtime, and have addressed coordination across resources in a limited fashion. In this paper we present a novel resource management framework in which resources can be flexible assigned to business process tasks in an efficient and adaptive way to adjust business service capability when service requirements change. The framework also uniformly accommodates an extensible set of resource types that may be both fine-grained and abstract. In addition, it is highly configurable and extensible in terms of pluggable strategies, and supports flexible runtime adaptation to fluctuating application demand and resource availability. It thus comprises a QoS driven and potentially autonomic resource management facility.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122360488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such mobile devices provide much less support for visualization compared to desktop computers. When developing mobile visualization applications, one should take the limited screen size, currently available interaction tools and relatively poor computation power into consideration. We describe a visual lens toolkit integrated with Focus+Context technique and it can be incorporated into various applications on Pocket PCs. Our technique creates a distorted display view of target object in a high resolution focus area that is smoothly embedded into the distorted context. We have tested the toolkit in two applications as stylistic lens and sketch lens separately and received fine experiment results. In remote line drawing of 3D model system, the lens toolkit embedded into the client side mainly serve as stylistic lens which provide the users with different presentation styles of the model according to the current viewpoint and focus. In mobile sketch system, the lens toolkit performs like a refinement filter which adoptively turns the loose sketch or SVG file into finer image. Both tested applications.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116777735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interoperation between diverse information services is one of the main challenges faced by FDLs. In this paper we describe an agent based mediator architecture that bridges the gap between heterogeneity systems. All agents communicate with each other by exchanging RDF (resource description framework) messages. We illustrate our approach with a prototype system involving a SDLIP and a Z39.50 server, and we analyze performance of our infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128578118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiment shows that the mobile SVG map can be zoomed perfectly. The loading and displaying time of the mobile SVG map is non-proportional to the size of the map, and approximates to the parallel shift on the time axes.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126119217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, the requirements also change according to the situation. In everyday life, we find some requirements are changeable such as: cuisine, refreshment. Some requirements are not changeable such as: type of book, movies genre. Furthermore, people often make choices not only based on their personal preference but also opinions or choices of other people such as their companion. From various requirements, we need a service that can provide desired information for the user depending on the prevailing situation on each occasion. In this paper, we have proposed information service adapted to three dimensions of the user requirements which are temporal: short term and long term preference, dynamic: dynamic and static preference, and social preference: the user and companion preference. This study also creates rules, algorithm to this service.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130391750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We provide consumer-friendly services which based on personal behavior log data. The consumer-friendly services are information service which display through a monitor, robot, sound and music that can attract new consumer. In this paper, we study personal behavior from a log file that has been recorded by RFID and camera sensors in the ubiquitous environment. Utilizing ubiquitous sensors, we apply three types of observation scopes to model each user's preference. They are microscopic, mezzoscopic, and macroscopic observation scopes. We have proposed the behavior analysis, algorithms and collaborative filtering to retrieve information. The protocol is based on time division multiple access (TDMA) principle and reduces energy consumption by avoiding overhearing, collision and idle listening. Nodes in TDMA-WSN build schedules based on information about their neighborhood to determine when they can transmit to their neighbors and when they should listen to the channel or sleep. TDMA-WSN proposes a novel resolution with three-d-hop neighborhood information to avoid collision caused by the two-hop collision-free principle used in some protocols. TDMA-WSN can accelerate passing message by arranging schedule based on routing information from the upper-layer. The simulation results indicate that TDMA-WSN outperforms contention-based protocols (e.g., S-MAC) and scheduling-based protocols (e.g., NAMA) with significant energy savings.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"22 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114122241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The spaces integrated with wireless sensors networks, actuators and context-aware services become part of our daily life. Smart spaces are equipped with a large number of wireless sensors that aim to collect large quantities of context information, during the process, there exists a large amount of collisions and energy consumption. Therefore, this paper provides a novel multi-rate based local framing pre-schedule scheme to further reduce collisions and improve energy efficiency in CSMA/TDMA hybrid MAC layer of wireless sensor network. This MAC combines CSMA and TDMA functionalities together while obviates their shortcomings. Having been assigned, slot 0 is preserved as the pre-schedule slot, to inform neighbor nodes the schedule of the senders. During the pre-schedule slot, each node knows exactly the schedule of other neighbor nodes. Multi-rate and power scaling are applied to achieve further energy saving by adpoting an acceptable rate rather than maximum rate. Data rate is dynamically adjusted according to the traffic load of sending nodes, in an energy efficient data rate, to save energy. Being compared with Z-MAC in terms of performances, local framing pre-schedule and multi-rate in this experiment achieved further energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114146296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an agent-based multi-attributes decision making (MADM) approach for the dynamic Web service selection. We summarize the Web service selection problem to MADM problem, and take an agent which executes periodically measurement tasks to avoid the imprecise of decision matrix (DM) as well as to remove unavailable services from the service registry. In addition, we introduce a simplified but effective method to work out the MADM problem. Experiments shows this approach is effective in particular for services which have multiple duplicates and require mass computation under unstable network environment.","PeriodicalId":370753,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd IEEE Asia-Pacific Service Computing Conference (APSCC 2007)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132170772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
