In the international arena, securitization of historical narratives can lead to a mnemonic security dilemma. Systematic challenging of the most important historical narratives of state A by key mnemonic actors of state B puts the political elites of state A before a choice: ignore this action or develop a set of measures aimed at countering attempts to undermine “their own” narrative and discredit historical narratives significant for the consolidation of society in state B. Under these conditions, the incompatibility of narratives becomes an important and even constitutive factor in the formation of macropolitical identity. The article considers different options for the emergence of a mnemonic security dilemma during conflicts between Serbia and Croatia, and between Russia and Ukraine. It shows that a mnemonic security dilemma significantly complicates the resolution of interstate conflicts.","PeriodicalId":36949,"journal":{"name":"Russia in Global Affairs","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69355245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors consider the processes of interstate and supranational adaptation, as well as the adaptation of the basic model of integration to the existing practices of interaction as part of the project to ensure four freedoms. The institutional inertia characteristic of the EAEU and the manifest desire primarily to prevent development risks are caused by the “hybrid nature” of the integration association, in which interstate ties and the interests of states often outweigh supranational ones. At the same time, integration cooperation made it possible for the member states to somewhat harmonize and coordinate their joint response to the pandemic. Sweeping anti-Russian sanctions have created new, unprecedented risks for integration cooperation, but at the same time have opened up certain opportunities to overcome their consequences. © 2022, Foreign Policy Research Foundation. Nearly four million Canadians are affected with arthritis and other rheumatic conditions; these numbers are expected to escalate as the population continues to age (PHAC, 2003). At present there exists only treatments for arthritis, but no cure. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative form of arthritis which occurs when the cartilaginous lining that cushions the ends of bones in joints deteriorates, leaving bones to rub against one another (Hunder, 1999). Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), on the other hand, is not associated with wear and tear. It is thought to be an autoimmune disease in which an unidentified agent stimulates an immune response in the joint capsule (Hunder, 1999). The ensuing inflammatory response results in the thickening of the joint capsule synovium. If untreated, inflammatory mediators digest cartilage, bone, tendons and ligaments. Given the aforementioned etiology of RA, treatment regimens have focused primarily upon reducing the autoInflammatory response associated with the disease.This has led to the utilization and development of various families of anti-Inflammatory drugs one of which are the Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). This class of drugs, of which aspirin is a member, inhibits inflammation by interfering with an inflammatory mediator known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX). Clinical trials demonstrate that although NSAIDs are effective in alleviating symptoms associated with RA, they present a marked increase in gastrointestinal ulceration (Kremer, 2000). These findings led to the development of NSAIDs that specifically inhibit","PeriodicalId":36949,"journal":{"name":"Russia in Global Affairs","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69355640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Russian leadership’s decision to launch a special military operation in Ukraine is analyzed using the conception of ontological security. The economic and financial consequences of this conflict may lead to a breakdown of the current model of globalization and facilitate a transition to a model of double global circulation between major centers of political and economic influence.","PeriodicalId":36949,"journal":{"name":"Russia in Global Affairs","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69355431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
