Doped with CuI and NiI/sub 2/ crystals for investigations were grown from the melt by the Bridgman method. The layered crystals possess surfaces of high quality (mirror-like quality), which are parallel to the layers. Doping improves nonlinear properties of crystals CdI/sub 2/; in particular increases the efficiency of generation of the second harmonic (SHG). SHG temperature dependencies in NiI/sub 2/ and CuI-doped crystals are investigated. All studied samples were pre-treated in magnetic fields at 4.2 K for 4 hrs. SHG signal decreases with temperature. Thus the ordering in impurity atom location is accompanied by the appearance of polarization charges on crystals surface and by increased lattice eccentricity.","PeriodicalId":368970,"journal":{"name":"5th International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling, 2003. It is known that the diffusion mechanism gives rise to self bending effect, but when the soliton is launched to nonlinear interface, very interesting phenomena is observed. The soliton is reflected by nonlinear interface but due to drift nonlinearity, is self-bending to nonlinear interface. This process is repeated many times along the propagation distance, in consequence surfaces waves is formed. We also show that the trajectory of the soliton is parabolic with particle method.","PeriodicalId":368970,"journal":{"name":"5th International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling, 2003. Since general methods to integrate nonlinear systems of this type do not exist, we use local method of laser dynamics analysis, presupposing initiation of Hopf's bifurcation, when one of the model parameters becomes the bifurcation value. Comparison of three models of Q-spoiler depending on the photon field density is made. The conclusion from the analysis of these model, is formulated in the following form: transition from one bifurcation parameter to another one in one and the same model is accompanied by some important consequences, in particular the following: contraction or expansion of the interval of stability, a quantity of stationary solutions, change of amplitude and phase of oscillation. In particular cases, this transition may reveal a new problem. This problem may be formulated in the following words: what kind of dependence should exist between the trace of Jacoby's matrix and the equation to set the stationary solutions of the specified system, to make the following equation true: the derivative of real part of secular value of Jacoby's matrix by bifurcation parameter is equal to the derivative by x/sub c/ of function, which roots are the stationary solutions.","PeriodicalId":368970,"journal":{"name":"5th International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling, 2003. Information about topology is not a big problem for up-to-date modeling software, but determination of refractive index distribution is complex problem. In this work we present method for calculating refractive index profile for channel waveguides useful for using in light propagation modeling tasks. We compare modeling results obtained by our method and methods used in other modeling software and found that our method is more multipurpose and robust. Also, some steps has been undertaken to simplify connection between light propagation modeling software and our diffusion model module. We performed calculation of refractive index change at Y-branch splitter using commercially available software.","PeriodicalId":368970,"journal":{"name":"5th International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling, 2003.
