Among them, the presence of the rodent Soriamys gaimanensis (first record outside of Bryn Gwyn locality) is mentioned, in addition to Eoviscaccia australis and Perimys sp. On the same level, isolated notoungulate teeth (Hegetotheriidae indet. and Pachyrukhinae cf. Pachyrukhos sp.) were found. Moreover, the ichnotaxon Chubutolithes gaimanenesis is reported in an underlying level, this being the third locality in the Chubut Province for which this ichnogenus has been mentioned. These specimens allow us to estimate relative ages for two levels of the Sarmiento Formation (middle Eocene to Early Miocene) in the locality, one of them referable to the Casamayoran South American Land Mammal Age—SALMA— (middle Eocene) and the other to the Colhuehuapian SALMA (Early Miocene). From a faunistic perspective, describing a new locality with levels referable to the Colhuehuapian SALMA in Argentina is relevant due to the geographic restriction compared to other SALMAs (Deseadan or PanSantacrucian). From a geographic perspective, Cabo Raso is the only Early Miocene fossil-bearing locality in the coast of Chubut Province reported so far.","PeriodicalId":36871,"journal":{"name":"Publicacion Electronica de la Asociacion Paleontologica Argentina","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135360759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present two methodologies for digitizing phytolith morphotypes as three-dimensional models from two-dimensional images using freely available software called bubble model and sculpting mode. Both methodologies are considered complementary when generating a three-dimensional phytolith model. This approach is effective in achieving 3D modelling, generating not only a user-friendly way to visualize such morphotypes but also an effective way to the knowledge and understanding of the variety of morphologies that characterize silicophytoliths.","PeriodicalId":36871,"journal":{"name":"Publicacion Electronica de la Asociacion Paleontologica Argentina","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135441097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

QUATERNARY CoNTINENTAL VERTEBRATEs oF URUGUAY: CHRoNoLoGY AND ENVIRoNMENTs. A brief revision of selected studies on the Quaternary continental vertebrates of Uruguay is provided. The diversity of the dominant group in the record—mammals—was notably increased as well as in some avian groups. The temporal framework takes into account the chronostratigraphic proposal available for the Pampean region as a biostratigraphic correlation tool and an increasing number of numerical ages (radiocarbon and optically stimulated luminescence). The sedimentary beds outcropping in northern Uruguay (the sopas Formation) yield a rich and diverse fossil content. They are correlated to the Lujanian stage/Age and the numerical ages of many outcrops fall in the range of the Marine Isotopic stage 3 (MIs 3). This study presents a systematic list of the fossil record of Jalisco, Mexico, and analyze the composition of their richness. The corresponding literature was reviewed and the main paleontological collections with fossil material from the region were consulted. A total of 293 species organized into three kingdoms, six phyla, 12 classes, 49 orders, 87 families, and 184 genera were recorded. A total of 67 species (22.9%) are microfossils and 226 (77.1%) are macrofossils. Microfossils include two species of foraminifera (3%) and 65 of diatoms (97%). Among macrofossils, the best represented group at class level are Mammalia with 110 species (48.7%), followed by Gastropoda with 37 (16.4%), Sauropsida with 35 (15.5%), and Teleostei with 30 (13.3%); the least represented classes are Isopoda, Scaphopoda, Amphibia, and Magnoliopsida with a single record each. The best represented period is the Quaternary with 199 species (67.9%), followed by the Neogene with 49 species (16.7%), and finally the Cretaceous with 45 (15.4%).
