Positioned as a composer, The researcher contextualized the choral arrangement against the historical and migration-related background of the Makossa ensemble. The study offered valuable insights into the choral arrangement of Zamina Mina Yeako Aba by exploring its linguistic and cultural origins. This article employed ethnomusicological and ethnodoxological approaches to scrutinize the choral arrangement, specifically focusing on the latter and exploring its cultural and spiritual aspects. This study examined the choral arrangement within its cultural setting, considering elements such as performance practices, compositional devices, cultural perspectives, and conversations with native Cameroonians and Ghanaians. Ethnodoxology, an interdisciplinary field, examines how various cultures articulate their worship through artistic mediums, particularly music in this instance. The article argued for fuller inclusion of Zamina Mina Yeako Aba and similar choral arrangements in global Christian worship and highlighted their inherent biblical themes. The significance of these arrangements extends beyond their musical qualities and highlights their role in preserving cultural heritage, promoting unity, and contributing to the broader landscape of global Christian music. This study showed how the seamless fusion of Western and African musical elements creates a synergistic effect. Through ethnodoxological insights into the choral arrangement, it reveals the deep connection between spirituality, tradition, and music in cross-cultural music-making.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Ethnodoxology, Ethnomusicology, Zamina Mina, Makossa Ensemble, Cross-cultural Music Making, Cultural Heritage.

Thus, this study aimed to gain insight into the integration and significance of various musical genres including hymns, danceable songs, and praises and worship songs within the church’s liturgical practices. The primary objective of this study was to document the historical development of these forms and clarify their functional significance in religious worship, taking into account the wider socio-cultural environment of the Ghanaian population. This study utilized a methodological approach that involved the use of direct observations and qualitative interviews. Primary data was collected from 28 participants sampled from chapels located in three regions of Ghana. The primary data was further enhanced by conducting a complete literature review, which included reputable sources relevant to the topic. The findings emphasized the customized musical choices influenced by profound philosophical principles that inform the selection of each musical style for certain liturgical occasions. The research concludes by suggesting that church leaders should take an active role in communicating the importance of these musical traditions to the congregation, assuring their comprehension and continued relevance in worship services.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Hymns, Praise and Worship songs, Danceable tunes, Choristers, Liturgy, Worship Service, the Methodist Church Ghana.

However, there are other dimensions to the so-called timeline beyond the constant point of reference as described by Nketia. The foremost challenge that this paper seeks to address is the fact that the term has been restricted and needs to be expanded. Consequently, it is obvious that the main goal of the entire paper is to re-examine the term Timeline. Data was gathered by listening to live performances, rehearsals, interviews, and various online performances including Zoom meetings with performers, and observing YouTube, Facebook and other platforms for critical analysis and comparative study of various dance styles from different parts of Ghana, as well as existing literature on the subject matter. Overall, the paper argues that the definitions and discussions about the concept by a couple of scholars ought to be amended and also elaborated for a deeper understanding upon further research. This phenomenon seems to be no exception in the choral, art-song, and instrumental music spheres despite the untapped nature of orchestral music in this part of the world, especially among Ghanaian art/scholar musicians. Orchestral music as a genre in the Neo-African art music space appears deficient in terms of its usage of African resources for creation. The less-to-zero exploitation of this art form has roughly marked a gap in its ingenuous disposition; thus, affording the opportunity for similar works. “Kwesi Gyan”, the 3rd Movement of the ‘Sankɔfa Symphony’ is a 21st-century chamber orchestra piece that merges traditional rhythms and a folk tune from Apatampa music with scholarly compositional techniques. The orchestral form of this music speaks to its Western nature. Likewise, the main melodic and rhythmic structures originate from Ghanaian culture, which illustrates the concept of interculturalism through the aforementioned merger. This paper presented the composition through a practice-based research approach, drawing on theories of cross-cultural music-making and Neo-African art music. It also provided a deeper understanding of the composer’s thought process and provides insight into understanding the piece. Additionally, the article aimed at inspiring creative research into Ghanaian musical arts, potentially contributing to the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage for future generations.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Interculturalism, composition, African music, Apatampa, Ghanaian musical arts, cultural heritage

However, very little attention is paid to an exploration that would expose music educators to the complementarity of music and science in their pedagogical approaches to music learning. The paper, therefore, focuses on the use of science in music to initiate innovation in music education through Cymatics. Using the experimental approach and Cymatic setup, the three main Ghanaian musical types and randomisation and five songs were selected from a collection of twenty songs based on the three musical types to generate cymatic figures which were induced by frequencies and amplitudes. It was observed that the figures created from the three Ghanaian musical types possessed some similarities, yet they uniquely stood out as a brand. It was also detected that melodies produced more figures than harmonised songs. The consumable sound levels (20 to 20000 Hz) were found to produce legible figures for use in other ventures. The study recommends that Music educators should record and use the generated frequencies and amplitudes for replication to aid comprehension in the teaching and learning process. \u0000\u0000Keywords: Cymatics, music teaching, science and music education

Music has largely been touted as a tool for training, however, it is practically being employed as a source of entertainment and a means of engaging learners in the classroom, thereby paying less attention to its evolving effect on the individual. Consequently, a number of literature emphasizing the importance of music as an instrument for the total development of the learner, has been thoroughly reviewed in this paper. This is to expose stakeholders of education particularly educators, policymakers, parents and heads of educational institutions to the inseparable benefits of music in the general education of the learner. It is therefore crucial for teachers and heads of schools to liaise with Parent-teacher associations, non-governmental organizations, School management boards and the Ministry of Education to help furnish schools with appropriate musical instruments and facilities such as sound laboratories, secluded rooms for audio-visuals to aid teachers and learners in the teaching and learning endeavour. \u0000\u0000Keywords: Music education, Philosophy of music, Interpretation of music education

This has become necessary in the light of earlier efforts which appear to be speculative. The focus of this present study is not to determine the age of this musical practice but to clear the seeming ambiguities peddled by previous researchers who believe that it is a spinoff of the music used in the worship of the god of iron in Esan. Of the thirty-five kingdoms in Esan, data was drawn from twenty towns that were adjudged to be still consistent in the performance of this music. Five major musical ensembles were later further investigated, one each from the five local government areas in eliciting data for this study. The study revealed that Asonogun is simply a recreational type of music and dance performed by both male and female participants whose origin has nothing to do with the worship of the god of iron. The study arrived at key conclusions that in this current era of globalisation, it is paramount that in-depth research is conducted before making public any findings because christening a social/ recreational musical genre fetish could generate apathy for the genre. This in turn could restrict audience participation and lead to the annihilation of the musical practice.. \u0000\u0000Keywords: Asonogun, Igbabonelimin, Igbaboasono, Ikhien

Theological findings from these hymns are used to formulate an African Christian theology of mission based on thematic areas such as the trinitarian dimension of mission, the centrality of the cross in mission, mission as the core mandate of the Church and mission as incarnational agapaō. By this, the paper makes the message of the selected hymns accessible to the global Christian community, promotes the development of hymnody in the African church and at the same time provides a paradigm for Christian mission in the 21st century African society. This is a literature research that uses data from books, theses, journal articles, among others. The findings indicate that hymns constitute a great tool for the missionary enterprise of the church, therefore Christian hymns should be developed and promoted. Admittedly, the debates over its morality and verdicts are complex. Notwithstanding the complexity and the numerous sensitive questions surrounding its morality, it has been observed that some women practice abortion regardless of their religious and cultural affiliations. Perhaps, there must have been a gap which may have been serving as grounds for the practice of abortion among women without considering the rights of the foetus. This study seeks to find out the rightness or wrongness of the phenomenon, viewed from African Christian perspective. The study blends ethical and theological methods and a qualitative technique in the analysis. The findings are that even though women have the rights to commit abortion, regardless of the rights of the foetus, they should exercise those rights and make the choice before conception, and not after. This is because once they conceive, the child has independent rights both before and after birth. The study recommends that pregnant women should not take it upon themselves to end the lives of the unborn. Those who are seeking abortion are to be encouraged to consider other options such as giving birth and giving out the babies for adoption.
