Objective: To determine the prevalence of physical contact between mothers and preterm newborns at birth and to analyze the association between the type of physical contact between them in the delivery room and the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge. Methodology: Cross-sectional study with a nonprobability sample of 78 mothers and 79 preterm newborns. Data were collected from July to November 2017, through interviews and medical records, and analyzed through descriptive statistics and Poisson Regression with robust variance. Results: The prevalence of any type of physical contact in the delivery room was 51.9%, without statistical difference between the type of physical contact between mothers and infants and exclusive breastfeeding at discharge. Conclusion: Physical contact by touching and kissing after birth did not influence the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge.","PeriodicalId":36785,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Enfermagem Referencia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44288025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: To identify patients’ perceived satisfaction with nursing care and assess its association with sociodemographic and professional variables. Methodology: Analytical, cross-sectional, and exploratory study with a quantitative approach. The Escala de Satisfação do Cidadão face aos Cuidados de Enfermagem (Citizen Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale) was applied to a sample of 100 patients in a medical-surgical emergency unit. Results: The mean perceived satisfaction was 217 ± 57.8. In this sample, 41.8% of participants had high perceived satisfaction, 23.2% had moderate perceived satisfaction, and 35.3% had low perceived satisfaction. A statistically significant correlation was found between satisfaction and education level: participants with lower education levels had higher perceived satisfaction (239 ± 60.8). Conclusion : Technical, relational, and communication skills training is important to improve the quality of care and increase satisfaction with nursing care at an individual and institutional level.","PeriodicalId":36785,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Enfermagem Referencia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41491083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: To examine nursing students’ satisfaction with simulated clinical experiences. Methodology: This quantitative descriptive-correlational study was conducted with 223 nursing students, using the Escala de Satisfação com as Experiências Clínicas Simuladas (ESECS; Satisfaction with Simulated Clinical Experiences Scale), which includes the Practical, Cognitive, and Realism dimensions. Results: The total mean of global satisfaction with the simulated clinical experiences was 7.501 on a scale of 1 to 10. The socio-demographic characteristics and course year and contents were not predictors of satisfaction. On average, students were more satisfied with the Cognitive dimension and less satisfied with the Realism dimension. Conclusion: Students are satisfied with simulated clinical experiences and understand their importance for acquiring skills and improving their ability to respond during clinical teachings in real-life contexts. For this reason, the theoretical, scientific, and practical investment in this teaching strategy is highly relevant.","PeriodicalId":36785,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Enfermagem Referencia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44275897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: To analyze the use of psychoactive drugs in higher education students and their relationship with the sociodemographic variables and the COVID-19 pandemic onset. Methodology: An analytical, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted. Data were collected through a questionnaire applied after the first semester of the 2020/2021 school year to 8875 students of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança from Portugal. A stratified sample of 825 participants for each of the five schools. Results: Alcohol and tobacco are the most used and abused substances due to the practice of binge drinking/smoking. Psychoactive and recreational drugs are less used. Use is affected by sociodemo-graphic variables: gender, age, school, chronic diseases, and parents’ education/occupation. During the pandemic COVID-19, students perceive an increase in use except for alcohol. Conclusion: The use of psychoactive drugs in higher education students is affected by sociodemographic variables and the COVID-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":36785,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Enfermagem Referencia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49174343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, the World Health Organization designed a model with key components for bringing civil society and governments closer together. Objectives: This study aimed to identify the aspects that influence participation based on the components proposed by the World Health Organization. Methodology: This case study used a qualitative and cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through document analysis, non-participant observation, and semi-structured interviews in 2020 and 2021 with the municipal health council members of an inland city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Results: Weaknesses were observed in the council’s institutional structure, such as excessive bureau-cracy, lack of user representativeness, and council members’ insecurity regarding the municipality’s health-related economic-financial issues. Conclusion : There is a need to strengthen the culture of participation in this municipal health council, disseminate the activities developed, and reformulate the technical-bureaucratic dynamics that predominate in this environment.","PeriodicalId":36785,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Enfermagem Referencia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43045268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
