Semen from collected from five type 1 guinea pigs, four months old (1.19 ± 0.15 kg) by electroejaculation method, between 3 and 5 times for each animal, making a total of 22 adequate collections. The volume, pH, sperm concentration, total motility and percentage of live sperm were determined. The samples for the analysis of sperm morphology and morphometry were stained with Spermac® and analyzed using the Motic Image Plus® software. The morphology was analyzed according to the dynamics of its acrosomal reaction, distinguishing 4 classes. The length, width, area, perimeter, ellipticity, elongation, regularity and rugosity of the head of the guinea pig sperm were determined, as well as the midpiece length and the tail of the spermatozoa. Guinea pig sperm morphology was analyzed with a complete random design, and the morphometric parameters by random blocks, using Duncan's test to compare means in both cases. In relation to morphology, significant differences (P <0.05) were found in the percentage distribution of classes, the most recurrent being class 2 (41.67%), higher than the other 3 groups. An animal effect (P <0.05) was found in the morphometric variables of head and midpiece of guinea pig spermatozoa. Mercaptothion is categorized as organophosphates which can generate free radicals and induce male fertility disorders. This study was aimed to assess the impacts of Quercetin against destruction of male fertility parameters induced by Mercaptothion. 64 male rats were randomly assigned into 8 groups; control, and Mercaptothion (250 mg/kg) groups; Quercetin groups (7.5, 15, and 30 mg/kg) and Mercaptothion + Quercetin (7.5, 15, and 30 mg/kg). Treatments were administered intraperitoneally (Mercaptothion) and orally (Quercetin) daily for 65 days. The sperm parameters, testis malondialdehyde (MDA), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), testosterone level and height of germinal layer were evaluated. Expressions of p53, caspase-3, Bax, and Bcl-2 were measured through real-time quantitative PCR. Values of all factors were reduced significantly except the MDA level (which increased) in Mercaptothion group compared to the control group (p<0.001). Studied criteria in groups of Quercetin and Quercetin + Mercaptothion in whole doses increased significantly except MDA level (which reduced) compared to the Mercaptothion group (p<0.001). Also, downregulated levels of p53, caspase-3, and Bax genes and unregulated levels of Bcl-2 gene expression were detected in control and the sixth treatment groups significantly in Quercetin group compared to the Mercaptothion group (p<0.001). No significant alterations were detected in Quercetin groups compared to the control group (p>0.05). A total of 60 animals were divided into four treatments: T1, T2, and T3 with 0.50 mL, 0.75 mL, and 1.0 mL of doses with Bopriva®, respectively, and T4 (control - 1.0 mL of placebo (distilled water)), with fifteen animals in each. The variables were measured every 15 days for three months (September to November 2018). Datasets were assessed by one-way ANOVA and subsequent posthoc Tukey´s test to detect significant differences among treatments. The results indicated differences found between treatments with the immunocastration compared with non-castrated animals for final weight, carcass weight and performance, scrotal circumference, and docility. Growth performance and meat quality characteristics were not adversely affected by immunocastration. Likewise, immunocastration with Bopriva proved to be effective to stop scrotal development and consequently reduces the sexual and aggressive behavior of young rams.
