The 60 GHz modulator is designed in a 90-nm CMOS process by current reuse and consumes 14.4-mW dc power at the ON-state. A data rate of up to 2 Gb/s has been measured. The 60GHz OOK demodulator is designed in a 130nm CMOS process. The demodulator consumes 14.7 mW, and recovers up to 5 Gb/s with the gain boosting detector and baseband amplifier. The fabricated 60 GHz modulator and demodulator are successfully integrated in an LTCC SiP transmitter module and receiver module with 1 by 2 patch antenna, respectively. Using these LTCC SiP modules, 648 Mb/s wireless video transmission was successfully demonstrated at 20-cm wireless distance.","PeriodicalId":367154,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Intelligent Radio for Future Personal Terminals","volume":"129 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115380781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed handover scheme, a handover UE designates an RAP in advance and notifies it to the target eNB via the source eNB. Then, the handover UE detaches the connection to the source eNB and tries random access using the reserved RAP with no acknowledgement. Therefore, the handover delay can be greatly reduced, since the handover UE does not wait the acknowledgement from the source eNB and secures access to the target eNB without collision.","PeriodicalId":367154,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Intelligent Radio for Future Personal Terminals","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134287005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A common gate amplifier with active noise cancellation is adopted to provide wide band input matching and a low noise figure (NF). To mitigate parastics and obtain improved noise performance, an inner-cascode inductor is added. The inter-cascode inductor also allows for bandwidth extension without significant peaking in the frequency response with voltage gain 17.3dB. The proposed LNA is designed in 0.18 um CMOS technology. From post-layout simulations, the design consumes 9.5 mA from a 1.8 V supply and operates in the frequency range of 0.7–2.7 GHz. The simulations also show S11<−10, a 2dB NF, and an IIP3 of approximately 5 dBm.","PeriodicalId":367154,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Intelligent Radio for Future Personal Terminals","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129732916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Similar to the well-known opportunistic splitting algorithm, the proposed algorithm initially adjusts (or lowers) the threshold during a guard period if no user sends a scheduling request. However, if multiple users make requests simultaneously and therefore a collision occurs, the proposed algorithm no longer updates the threshold but narrows down the user search space by splitting the users into multiple groups iteratively, whereas the opportunistic splitting algorithm keeps adjusting the threshold until a single user is found. Since the threshold is only updated when no user sends a request, it is shown that the proposed algorithm significantly alleviates the burden of the signaling for the threshold distribution to the users by the scheduler. More importantly, the proposed algorithm requires a less number of mini-slots to make a user selection given a certain scheduling outage probability.","PeriodicalId":367154,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Intelligent Radio for Future Personal Terminals","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133053192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
