For this purpose, his publications on the magazine L’Europa letteraria, founded and directed by Giancarlo Vigorelli, have been examined alongside his correspondence with the major Spanish writers at the time: Rafael Alberti, Max Aub, Vicente Aleixandre, José Agustín Goytisolo and the Italian scholar Oreste Macrì. The letters with these last two are unpublished and kept in the Contemporary Archive ‘Alessandro Bonsanti’, Gabinetto G.P. Vieusseux in Florence. Thanks to these texts, new information about the projects of Dario Puccini will emerge.","PeriodicalId":36702,"journal":{"name":"Rassegna Iberistica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42645380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both plays were performed in Madrid in 1738 on the occasion of the wedding of Charles of Bourbon (King of the Two Sicilies, future Charles III of Spain) to Maria Amalia of Saxony, daughter of the King of Poland. We will analyse the literary and operatic context of the celebration, the characteristics of the translation in relation to the Catalan originals, the musical aspect of the pieces (accentuated in the Spanish version), some aspects of the staging, and the possible involvement of Fray Agustín Eura.","PeriodicalId":36702,"journal":{"name":"Rassegna Iberistica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45219451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through it we witness the story of Paula de Eguiluz, a black slave owned by the Warden Mayor of Santiago de Cuba, who was tried under the accusation of witschcraft by the Inquisition in Cartagena de Indias between 1623 and 1635. The document, considered a contextual proof in its time, today becomes a proof of historicity. Its thematic, symbolic and anthropological scope connects it to the legacy of magical and hidden rituals that survived in the Hispanic Caribbean, and whose origin dates back to Classical Antiquity. Among the texts that testify this connection, we will consider the poem “The Sorceress” by Theocritus of Syracuse , author of the Idylls. This poem tells how Simeta prepares an elixir for the young man she desires, and describes the ritual, and the emotional circumstances that surround it, in detail. In this article, we introduce the connections between the magical imaginary described by Theocritus, and the beliefs that in seventeenth-century Christian Europe were still part of popular culture and that, transferred to America, were hybridizing with indigenous traditions and beliefs coming from Africa through the Atlantic slave trade.","PeriodicalId":36702,"journal":{"name":"Rassegna Iberistica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43990021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In doing so, we will focus on the research carried out within the “Phonodia” group of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia. This research consists of the description and analysis of the corpus of recorded poems by Antonio Gala, which add up to a total of eighty-four and are found in three audio publications: Testamento andaluz (1985), De viva voz (1997), and Miró a mi corazón (2014) – the last one in collaboration with the composer Rubén Jordán. With all this, not only the importance of Antonio Gala as a contemporary poet will be proven, but also the relevance of his poems in the framework of the relationship between the voice and poetry through sound files.","PeriodicalId":36702,"journal":{"name":"Rassegna Iberistica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48926177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
