An empirical study was carried out on the borrowers of three leading microfinance institutes namely, Grameen Bank (GB), BRAC and ASA. Data were collected from two poverty-plagued villages namely, Uttar Islampur and Ruhitpur of Munshiganj district. The mixed research methods were applied. Findings of this study demonstrate that most of the borrowers experience assorted problems on the day of loan repayment. If they fail to pay back the debt aright loan officers and their allies treat them raucously. In order to avoid such unpleasant situations, insolvent borrowers tend to make multiple auxiliary loans and payback the previous ones. As a result, they fall into the decoy of a borrowing-repaying cycle. Sometimes, over-indebtedness compels them to sell out their tangible assets. Thus, they become even poorer. Furthermore, borrowers use to experience discontented domestic and social lives due to such loan-collection techniques of the microfinance institutes.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. For countries with small landmasses and burgeoning populations, watersheds are increasingly at risk of being negatively impacted. The environment and water supply are particularly vulnerable if no actions are taken to manage them properly. This study sought to understand the perceptions of the various stakeholders who interact with the largest and most important watershed in Trinidad; their perceptions of the problems, the causes of the problems and possible solutions. It also investigated their willingness to collaborate on action plans to manage the watershed. A purposive sample of 266 respondents from four stakeholder groups was selected and interviewed using a structured questionnaire; comprising in the main of three perception scales and a modified Wilder Collaboration Factor Inventory. The latter is used to assess stakeholders willingness to collaborate. ANOVA results showed that there were similarities in perceptions to 5 of the 10 identified problems, 7 of the 18 possible causes and 6 of the 10 solutions presented. Such results suggested that there were opportunities for positive intervention and 21.3% of the stakeholders expressed a high level of willingness and a further 69.5% a moderate level of willingness to collaborate on community activities geared toward addressing water management issues. Recommendations included; increased community education on watershed importance, more constructive dialogue among stakeholders to achieve better agreements on the watershed issues and increased engagement with institutional stakeholders who are key to fashioning developmental plans for the watershed.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. This paper intends to explain the impacts of network strength, breadth and stability on the innovation performance of Startups. An empirical analysis of high-tech Startups from 6 provinces of central China displays that, network strength and breadth exert a significant positive impact on Startups‘ innovation performance, network stability a relatively weak one, and that environmental dynamism plays a negative role mediating between network breadth and the innovation performance.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. In addition, we proposed the moderating effect of academic self-efficacy on the relationship between academic stress and academic procrastination. According to the study, the influence of academic stress on academic performance is mediated by academic procrastination. When individuals perceive the academic stress, they will have better performance if they take active procrastinate while passive procrastination can produce poor performance. Moreover, when individuals have high self-efficacy, it will promote our active procrastination. That is to say, when the individual is aware of the academic stress, it is necessary to believe in their own ability and take active action, which will create good results.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. Leadership is the process that results from the interaction and integration of those two subjects. It is a fact that the effective exercise of leadership will exist when there is not only concern with the hierarchical relationship itself, but also with the perception of those involved. The strengthening of the collective will take place when the characteristics of each group member are strengthened. Diversity is when we talk about behavior, respect for diversity, and people’s competences and skills. The sum of individualities constitutes the broad sense of the group. The approach that followers want and expect from their leaders leads us several reflections to the point that we say that an executive can be led by someone from another hierarchical levels, provided that in a specific task, the group is the basis of construction. But it is very difficult to see this reality in the actual cooperative context; however much the concepts are shifting to an wide scenario, more flexible, more heterogeneous, a significant portion of those in leadership positions still reside under a traditional culture background in which the hierarchy is the basis of organizational power and almost the only reference to it. On the basis of this study research, it is stimulating the search for the answer to the following disquiet: How can leadership contribute to sustainability goals? In the dynamics of groups as an interactive and integrative organizational practice, we seek a way of acting where leaders and leds find the best ways to achieve these results","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. In 2012, the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) in Brazil, the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEAD) and the João Pinheiro Foundation took the challenge of adapting the Global HDI methodology to calculate the HDI municipalities. The HDI municipalities consolidates a dialogue informed and based on development from HDI. This study aims to portray the dimension of education in 5,565 cities in 27 states in Brazil. The result shows that 50% of the States are classified as inadequate, 24% as satisfactory, 16% as unsatisfactory and only 10% as a reference. This evidence makes it possible for the construction of plans of action, such as an incubation program for States classified as unsatisfactory and benchmarking program for countries classified as reference. The education improves the quality of the human factor and modifies the entire picture of the country, because there is no country that has managed to develop without investing in education.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability. Economies transit from factor driven to efficiency driven in which use of modern technology increases. This paper explores the effects of entrepreneurs‘ perceptions on product innovations which have impact on industry enterprises sustainability in leather products and footwear industry of Sri Lanka. This country is in transition from factor driven production process towards efficiency driven production processes based on technology. An expert reviewed and piloted questionnaire was used to gather primary data related to entrepreneurs‘ perceptions and competitiveness of enterprises in the industry. The research has found that the majority of entrepreneurs do not have an intention to engage in new product innovations in near future. They use designs already available which lead to competiveness and sustainability issues in this industry. Level of innovations and use of Internet for routine business activities in enterprises in the industry remains low. How to upgrade the level of education and management so as to better serve practical teaching is an arduous task. This paper presents a new education model based on 6S managementand competition mechanism. In particular, aiming at the course of robot-integrated design, which is a typical experimental course in Wuhan University, the author does useful exploration and practice on implementing and validating the teaching model. The result supports the usefulness of this approach, and it demonstrates that this teaching model improves not only laboratory management quality but also teaching quality, furthermore, it promotes cultivating creative spirit, practical abilityand cooperation consciousness of universities students.","PeriodicalId":365940,"journal":{"name":"Journal on Innovation and Sustainability.
