I argue for the need to further consider\u0000 whether historical subjects are being granted a voice in how their stories are being told. I will discuss the dichotomy between the imperatives to expose human rights abuses and seek accountability, against the need to consider the power dynamics defining control of the post-mortem narratives\u0000 of the individuals named within records. I advocate for an approach to academic research that takes into account the affective power of records and the relations created by engaging them. I will explore how we might approach official records that document the abuse people have suffered as\u0000 extensions of their physical bodies, as sacred remains.

This has led to a complete financial collapse, with significant material losses incurred by the Lebanese Central Bank (BDL). It has also fuelled\u0000 protests against the rampant corruption plaguing the country. Since the beginning of the banking crisis in Lebanon characterized by a lack of liquidity and the cessation of banks from dealing in US dollars, the risks surrounding deposits belonging to residents and non-residents, as well to\u0000 foreigners, have emerged. This exacerbated the absence of procedures to determine the fate of deposits and the applicable legislation that protects these deposits. This article examines the resulting imbalances in the financial paradigm and demonstrates the illegality of actions or restrictions\u0000 taken by banks. Consequently, this article explores the means to protect depositors’ rights and the legal steps followed by depositors to retrieve their money or at least to save what is left of it.
