This study aims to evaluate landscape architects’ and architects’ visual perception of Balakgazi park design in the city of Elazig. Study methodology consists of four stages: (1) Determining the adjective pairs related to the feelings of pleasure, excitement, and dominance that are effective in evaluating the design; (2) Preparation of visual perception questionnaires; (3) Determination of visual perceptions with semantic differentiation technique. At this stage, the determined 18 adjective pairs were rated by the participants according to the 7-point Likert scale (1=Negative, 7=Positive). (4) Statistical analysis of the obtained data. At this stage, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to group the predominant adjective pairs in participant perceptions. MANOVA was used to determine whether the factors changed according to the socio-demographic characteristics of participants (gender, age, education level, etc.). In this study, the responses of 207 participants, 107 of them landscape architects and 98 architects, were evaluated. The data obtained from both groups were evaluated separately. The main results show that “Uninteresting-Interesting” got the lowest score (2.74), and the highest score was “Complex-Simple” (4.67) in the adjective pairs in Balakgazi park by the landscape architects. On the other hand, in architects, “Insufficient Green-Green” (3.19) has the lowest value, while the highest score is “Complex-Simple” (4.48). Landscape architects generally negatively evaluated the adjective pairs. As a result of the EFA, the adjective pairs were grouped under two-factor groups: “Excitement” and “Pleasure and Dominance” according to landscape architects. On the other hand, architects determined two-factor groups: “Excitement and Dominance” and “Excitement”. MANOVA results show that while there was no statistical difference in the determination of the factor groups according to gender and whether participants had seen the Balakgazi park (p>0.05), there were differences in their responses according to their levels of design education (p","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87292412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to protect this heritage with modern, scientific, innovative and sustainable methods, it is necessary to increase the level of social awareness. In particular, activities aiming to increase young people's awareness about cultural heritage and their participation in conservation processes should be developed. This study aimed to share the experiences of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project named \"From Past to Future\", which intended to raise awareness of tangible cultural heritage and its protection among young people and to evaluate the level of achievement/succession of the project. 43 young people from three different countries participated in the \"From the Past to the Future\" Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project, which spanned an eight-month calendar. In the project, 14 activities prepared with the themes of \"what, why and how we protect\" were carried out about tangible cultural heritage assets; in addition to the activities, a questionnaire was applied to the participants. The outputs of the activities carried out in the project were interpreted by the experts, and the survey findings were evaluated using descriptive analysis. As a result, it can be said that young people mostly have information about the definition, scope and classification of tangible cultural heritage, they understand the cultural heritage values that are the underlying reason for the conservation of heritage assets, and they are aware that these values can be preserved by increasing the level of social awareness, and they tend to participate in similar projects. These results indicate that the \"From the Past to the Future\" Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project increases young people's knowledge, experience, sensitivity and awareness about cultural heritage and encourages their participation in conservation processes.","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"86 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73539794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, studies show that the reflections of these steps on the physical space of the city are not as successful as in the discourses. Subjects that focus more on physicality, such as women's freedom of movement in urban space, their visibility and their relationship with space, are often ignored or insufficient, although there are some formations to strengthen this relationship, such as the \"Women Friendly City\" programs. At this point, the starting point of this study, which aims to understand women's place in urban space practices and their positive-negative relationship with space from both men's and women's perspectives and to raise awareness, is the main hypothesis that women's visibility in public space is less than men's. The reasons such as social and cultural acceptances, the responsibilities of women, and the inadequacy of urban space practices that may affect this hypothesis have also formed the assumptions of the study. In order to test/confirm this hypothesis and related assumptions, a total of 354 questionnaires were conducted with male and female participants using the simple random sampling technique in Keçiören, Ankara. As a result of the study, the hypothesis determined specifically for the Keçiören sample area was confirmed. However, the point that needs to be emphasized is that the main reason why women's visibility in urban space is less than that of men is not related to urban space practices other than 'security', but rather to the sociological dimensions of the issue. In other words, the reasons such as the view that women in social life should be at home by identifying with the 'home' and that they cannot find the time to participate in urban life due to their home-related responsibilities cause women to experience urban space less than men.","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"55 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83576704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ecology-based models are being developed to detect and control this pressure. From this point of view, the study aims to develop an urban ecological corridor model that will contribute to the development of land use policies that will regulate energy flow and natural species flow, reduce the urban heat island effect and increase habitat connectivity in the case of Malatya city, and will guide cities. To achieve the stated purpose, satellite images, climate data, topographic data, and demographic data sets of different scales and temporalities were associated using different remote sensing and geographic information systems techniques, and an urban ecological corridor model was created. It was determined that the ecosystem most affected by urban growth in Malatya between 1985-2021 was the agricultural ecosystem. Based on the prediction that the urban population will reach 888,784 people in 2050, it has been determined that urban areas will reach 173 km2. While the pressure on agro-ecosystems will continue to increase between the years 2021-2050, as in the 1985-2021 period, the link between ecosystems will gradually weaken. Ecological corridors will undertake various ecological functions such as energy flow, natural species flow, urban heat island effect mitigation, groundwater regime regulation, and habitat connectivity, by guiding urban sprawl among the most ecologically sensitive and largest integrated patches of agriculture and steppe ecosystems. In Malatya, 13 ecologically sensitive areas from the agricultural ecosystem and 5 from the steppe ecosystem were determined and an ecological corridor with an area of 694 km2 connecting the ecosystem spots was proposed.","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91260934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In parallel with this situation in cities, the formation of urban heat islands (UHI), which can be considered among the most prominent triggers of global warming, has emerged. UHI analysis and analyzes for climate-balanced urban design such as reducing the effects on the city and improving the bioclimatic comfort situation have an important place among the research topics. In this context, in the study, floor heights, amount of green area, amount and type of impermeable surfaces etc. microclimatic detailed analyzes of urban parts with different characteristics have been taken into focus. The study was carried out in the city of Kayseri. Three different city parts of the same size in Yeniköy, Alpaslan and Erenköy Neighborhoods within the city limits were determined as the study area. The current conditions of these areas were simulated with ENVI-met software. As a result of the simulations, air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and average radiant temperature (MRT) maps were produced. As a result of the study, it was determined that the heat stress increased and the bioclimatic comfort level decreased, especially in areas where impermeable surfaces, more green areas, and high-rise buildings are dense. Relative humidity values showed a change inversely proportional to the air temperature. It has been determined that the wind speed reaches high rates in open areas and decreases in areas where the structure or vegetation is intense. It was concluded that in the areas where the plants are located, the radiant temperatures decrease pointwise and are higher in the other areas.","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80718410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, efforts on sustainable industry have turned out some non-traditional concepts like well-planned zones, industrial ecology, industrial symbiosis and eco-industrial parks. It is aimed to further contribute to the design and implementation of sustainable and qualified superstructure in industrial zones in Turkey by analyzing these two subjects especially focusing on their intersections. Firstly the eco-industrial park concept and newly emerged Green OIZ Project in Turkey have been studied specifically in the context of green superstructure. Secondly, industrial buildings in Turkey which are evaluated or being evaluated with a certification system are detected and their data have been compiled. The interviews with the firms that had provided consultancy services for a significant part of those buildings, have been used for the discussion and interpretation of the collected data. At the end of the study, a model has been proposed to improve the sustainability of superstructure in industrial zones in Turkey.","PeriodicalId":36572,"journal":{"name":"In Monte Artium","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82792985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
