To date, few studies have compared psychological states of triathletes before and after competition. Furthermore, there is a lack of research assessing psychological indicators of overtraining in triathletes. This study aimed to create a psychological profile of amateur athletes before and after a triathlon competition, and to investigate psychological symptoms of overtraining syndrome. \u0000Forty amateur triathletes were recruited to participate in this study. \u0000Participants completed the Profile of Mood States (POMS), Passion Scale (PS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GES). Questionnaires were administered the day before a triathlon event, and then repeated the day after the competition. Athletes reported poor sleep quality, and mood states followed the iceberg profile (i.e., high vigor, and low anxiety, depression, anger, fatigue, tension, and confusion). Significantly higher pre-competition scores emerged for tension (pre: 8.85±5.4, post: 4.18±5.0, p < \u00000\u0000.001) and anger (pre: 3.57±3.8, post: 2.80±4.1, p = \u00000\u0000.021). Correlational analyses performed using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient revealed that pre-competition sleepquality (r = -0.37, p = 0.019) and tension (r = -0.34, p = 0.031) were related to self-efficacy, and that tension (r = 0.47, p = 0.002), and fatigue (r = 0.57, p < 0.001) were related to pre-competition sleep quality. Lower scores for pre-competition vigor (r = -0.40, p = 0.010) were associated with poorer sleep quality. The study highlights significant relationships with sleep quality, and potential indicators of overtraining syndrome in amateur triathletes. Experimental research analyzing the effects of interventions to target the highlighted psychological characteristics in amateur triathletes is recommended. Coaches and practitioners should monitor athletes’ sleep quality before competition to optimize performance and prevent overtraining syndrome.

Eleven athletes participated in the research. The average of the maximum activation of the latissimus dorsi recorded with EMG, in the movement of the forehand drive corresponds to 4,15±1,137 and for the posterior deltoid, the maximum activation was 6,70±1,90. The results of the measurements indicate differences in the sequence of activation between the two muscles. The posterior deltoid was the second muscle to contract after the latissimus dorsi. At the start of the rotating action, the latissimus dorsi was most fully activated, while the maximum activation posterior deltoid was towards the end of the movement. The t-test showed P<0.05 between the two means. So, we found that the function of the motor chain follows the coordination of the involvement of the two muscles to perform the forehand drive with the open stance, which means that the rotational motion transfers significant energy which translates into speed and strength. These results are very important to coaches, physical trainers, and physiotherapists in providing appropriate treatment, training, and rehabilitation protocols not only for young athletes but also older in age.

To maintain a good physical condition among young children, knowledge of the factors associated with knee and heel pain in growth phase is essential. This study investigated the factors that correlated with growth-related knee and heel pain in Japanese football players aged 8 to 12 years. We collected 1,200 pieces of data (each 300 children in 3rd to 6th grades) on children’s characteristics from their parents using a web-based questionnaire. Player’s age, weight, height, leg dominance, playing position, playing surface, and weekly training volume were collected from each parent. In addition, respondents were asked whether their children had experienced knee or heel pain within the previous 12 months. If they answered “Yes” for the pain, the cause was investigated as following categories: growth related pain (Osgood-Schlatter disease or Sever’s disease), contusion, fracture, sprain, and others. Univariate analyses (independent t tests and chi-square tests) were used to compare the characteristics between the groups with and without growth-related knee and heel pain. To investigate the association of the clinical factors with growth-related knee and heel pain, multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed, and the results were presented as the odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Among young Japanese footballers, 11.2% and 10.7% had episodes of growth-related knee and heel pain within recent 12 months, respectively. Older age, larger body size, and increased training volume per week were associated with recent knee and heel pain in univariate analyses. In contrast, leg dominance, playing position, and surface were not associated with any episode of growth-related knee and heel pain. According to multivariate logistic regression analyses, older age (OR=1.24; 95% CI, 1.01–1.52), higher percentile rank in body height (OR=1.34; 95% CI, 1.04–1.74), and more training hours per week (OR=1.06; 95% CI, 1.03–1.09) were significantly associated with the episodes of growth-related knee pain in past 12 months. Moreover, higher percentile rank in body weight (OR=1.50; 95% CI, 1.21–1.85) and more training days per week (OR=1.46; 95% CI, 1.29–1.65) were associated with growth-related heel pain. The present study used a web-based questionnaire to investigate the factors associated with knee and heel pains in young football players aged 8 to 12 years. Age, body size, and external load such as weekly training volume were associated with knee and heel pain in children. Coaches and guardians, who monitor children’s growth, should pay attention to modifiable risk factors that correlated with knee and heel pains in childhood.

This allows sports scientists to not only measure the maximum oxygen uptake (VO2Max) but to get an insight into the overall cardiopulmonary fitness of an athlete. Despite winning the Asian netball cup in 2022 and getting qualified to take part in the netball world cup no such testing has ever been conducted on the national netball pool of Sri Lanka up to this study, leading to lack of physiological norms when determining cut off points in the selection process of the players into the national team. With this background we aim to conduct Physiological testing, using cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) to establish these benchmarks and norms for physiological fitness for Sri Lankan national netballers.\u0000All 13 members of the 2022 Asia cup winning national netball pool of Sri Lanka, who have participated in at least 10 tournaments/matches within the last 6 months was included in the study. All CPET was conducted in the morning and in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Bruce protocol will be used to carry out the CPET.\u0000All the netball players who conducted CPET achieved more than 80% of their peak heart rate indicating a maximum effort. Average peak VO2 value of our study was 29 mil/min/kg. The highest VO2 values were obtained by C players and GD players. There was a significant difference of VO2 values between C,GD and GS players. Despite the relatively low overall VO2 max values most of the players apart from GS achieved more than 90% of their predicated VO2 (VO2/kg predicted%) values. GA achieved more than 80% of their predicted VO2. Oxygen delivery to muscle was more than 100% of the predicated among all the players except GS. (C-Centre, GA-Goal Attack, GD-Goal Defence, GK-Goalkeeper, GS-Goal Shooter, WA-Wing Attack, WD-Wing Defence).\u0000Although our sample archived relatively low overall VO2 max values compared to western standards, most of the players apart from GS achieved more than 90% of their predicated VO2 values, with GA achieving more than 80% of their predicted. A statically significant correlation was observed between oxygen delivery to muscle at anaerobic threshold.

The researchers chose a sample of Iraqi heroes with a number (4) elite disc shooters, and the researcher concluded that there is a significant correlation between the momentary force and the pressure exerted by the feet and the momentary force in the trunk and arms with some biomechanical variables to perform in the discus throw, as well as between the rapid strength of the legs with the variables of the disc launch.
