The study covers the period of 1986 to 2019. Using time series data, the methodology adopted is the Vector Error Correction Mechanism to explore the impact of exchange rate volatility on the selected macroeconomic variables. The result indicated that exchange rate volatility has a significant impact on economic growth, specifically it has a positive impact on inflation, unemployment and balance of trade. On the other hand it has a negative impact on economic growth and investment. Okoyeuzu","doi":"10.46654/AJBED.1218","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46654/AJBED.1218","url":null,"abstract":"This study assessed the impact of public sector reforms programmes on the human resources management and civil service of the Nigerian public service. Data for the study were mainly secondary data complemented with primary data collected from stakeholders in the public service that have experienced various reforms in their career. Findings suggest that the impact of reforms on HRM and CSR were largely marginal. The positives of the reforms are mainly in the areas of improvement in salaries and functionality of pension and retirement benefits by making it contributory. These improvements in emoluments narrowed the incentives between public and private sectors and tend to attract skilled hands to the public sector that otherwise would not have been the case. However, all other policy initiatives that were aimed at ensuring effective and efficient use of scarce resources, transparency and accountability by civil servants, incentives and promotion by merit and value for money were at various stages of policy reversal, delayed implementation, and outright abandonment by compromising civil servants that selectively implement only those reforms that suits and benefits their interests. Although this concept has been thoroughly examined in various studies there is a research gap regarding its usage in generating customer patronage in the fast food industry. The aim of this research project is to examine and evaluate the degree of the application of brand appeal in customer patronage in fast food firms in Rivers State of Nigeria. The population of the study was 65 fast food firms, from which a sample of 39 was drawn based on the Taro Yemen’s formula. The simple random sampling technique was employed to select 200 respondents from 39fast food firms in Rivers State of Nigeria. The data were gathered by questionnaire survey on 200 respondents. 200 copies of questionnaires were received useful, obtaining a 93 percent response rate. The simple regression statistics was used to test the hypotheses. The results illustrates that emotional brand appeal has a strong, positive and significant influence on patronage intention, and a very strong, positive and significant influence on patronage action. The study also found that rational brand appeal has a strong, positive and significant influence on patronage intention and patronage action. The study therefore, concludes that brand appeal significantly influences customer patronage of fast food firms in Rivers State. The study offers an empirical assessment of the relationship as based on its model – 4 null hypothetical statements are put forward. The research design adopted was the cross-sectional survey and data for this study was generated from managers and key personnel of the target organizations using structured questionnaire. The study adopted the Spearman’s rank order correlation in its assessment for the bivariate correlations between dimensions of organizational learning capability (managerial commitment and system orientation) and measures of firm innovativeness (propensity to create new products and propensity to create new processes). The findings reveal significant relationships between dimensions of organizational learning capability and the measures of firm innovativeness.
