This paper puts forward a wavelet-based predictive image coding algorithm, which has a higher coding rate than traditional coding algorithm. Based on the algorithm above, this article adopts the selective image compression technique to compress facial images. This algorithm attains a compression ratio from decade to several decades and settles the transmission and storage problem preferably.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125462277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, A* algorithm is introduced in the static road network to reduce those definitely useless states. Secondly, based on real-time traffic information and historic information, a heuristic incremental search method is applied to find the most optimal path at each information update period. Thirdly, those useless states from candidate paths are removed. Based on the real traffic data of Beijing, the experimental results illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125622398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Discovering ranking function is a classical method to prove the termination, but the existence of ranking function is a sufficient condition on the termination of a loop program. In this paper, we present an algorithm to remedy the limitation of ranking function for analyzing the termination of linear programs with conditionals. We transform the linear loop programs with conditionals into the nested linear loop programs, and then check whether the inner loop terminates or not by positive eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenvectors. If one of the inner loop in the nested linear loop is nonterminating, then the linear loop is nonterminating. Otherwise, we use discovering ranking functions based on qualifier elimination to analyze the termination of the linear loop. To illustrate the main idea of the algorithm, we perform it on some examples.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130559447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this model, the element of the linear phased array is considered as finite dimensions in its two directions. Based on this approach, the beam profiles of the linear phased array under continuous wave (CW) excitation are investigated. Influences of parameters of the linear phased array on spatial beam pressure distribution are systematically analysed. Those parameters are the pitch, the element width and length, the number of elements, the total aperture and the frequency. It is shown that they play an important role in determining array spatial profiles.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130563286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both walking machines are attractive in the way that they now combine three key aspects: versatility, adaptivity, and autonomy. Versatility in this sense means a variety of reactive behaviors, while adaptivity implies to online learning capabilities, and autonomy is an ability to function without continuous human guidance. These three key elements are achieved under neural control and an online learning mechanism. In addition, this contribution will point out that such control technique is shown to be a power method of solving sensor-motor coordination problems of high complexity systems.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129918633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As with any development project, a data warehouse also needs testing. The complexity and size of data warehouse systems make comprehensive testing both \"more difficult and more necessary\". The fact, queries that perform satisfactorily on small datasets may fail miserably in the real life environment. This necessitates establishing a system that runs queries on fully scaled data. Legal implications and business ethics do not allow to perform testing with real business data. We develop a new parallel sorting algorithm, increasing CCI (compare and conditionally interchange) operations, derived from the odd merge sort algorithm. The proposed algorithm is based on a divide-and-conquer strategy. First of all, the sequence to be sorted is decomposed in several groups that are sorted in parallel. After that, all groups are merged into a final, sorted sequence. Therefore, any odd bitonic sequence can be correctly sorted with the mended algorithm. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the computational complexity of the new algorithm and compares it with that of other well-known parallel sorting algorithms. It does not increase memory consumption, and keep the same complexity. Analytic results are compared with those of the sequential algorithm and parallel implementations of other sorting algorithms, obtaining that our proposal outperforms the other solutions.","PeriodicalId":364568,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115095728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
