This study used census data to investigate spatial-resolved African American population movement at the scale of census tract. Accordingly, significant settlement patterns and movement were discovered, such that 48% of the city’s community areas and 21% of Suburban municipalities have shown a cluster of high percent African American population. On the other hand, significant clustering (i.e., p > 0.05) of lower African American population was detected in 39% community areas and 51% of the suburban municipalities. Additionally, the 2010 population patterns have shown changes from the 1990s, such that net loss was observed in 51% of the city’s community areas, and net gains in 75% of the suburban municipalities (i.e., p > 0.05); indicating a clear African Americans’ urban-to-suburban movement.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128062738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pradeepkumar","doi":"10.14445/23939206/ijggs-v7i2p102","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14445/23939206/ijggs-v7i2p102","url":null,"abstract":": The crescent shaped Cuddapah basin located mainly in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh and a little in the Telangana State is one of the Purana basins. Extensive work was carried out on the stratigraphy of the basin, but there is very little reference (Vaidynathan,1964) on the geomorphology of the basin. Hence, an attempt is made to present the geomorphology of the unique basin. The Major Geomorphic units correspond to geological units. The important Physiographic units of the Cuddapah basin are Palakonda hill range, Seshachalam hill range, Gandikota hill range, Velikonda hill range, Nagari hills, Pullampet valley and Kundair valley. In the Cuddapah Basin there are two major river systems namely, the Penna river system and the Krishna river system. The Penna river system has more network of rivers than the river system of Krishna. Further, the Pennar river system drains the southern half of the basin, whereas the river Krishna drains mainly the northern most part of the basin. There is no major river in between these two. The rivers of Pennar systems have their origin from Mysore upland area, whereas the rivers of Krishna systems have their origin from the northern Karnataka area. Most of the rivers are superposed. They are mainly controlled by the structural features / elements. be divided into structural landforms, fluvial landforms and denudational landforms. Structural landforms: Cuesta, hogback, structural ridge, structural plateaus, mesa, domes. Fluvial land forms: Water channel with flood plain, alluvial fans, piedmont zone, valley fill and solution forms. There is well developed karst topography in the basin in the limestone of the Kurnool Group. In addition to all these, the famous Natural Arch is also an eye catching geomorphic feature of the basin. The critical study of cross sections along certain latitudes and along the hill ranges revealed a number of erosional surfaces in and around Cuddapah basin. These surfaces are correlated with the surfaces noticed in the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. They are, i. Annamalai Surface - at an altitude of over 8000 ’ (2424 m), ii. Ootacamund Surface – at 6500’-7500 ’ (1969-2272 m) on the west and at 3500’ (1060m) on the east as noticed in Tirumala hills, iii. Karnataka Surface 2700 ’ -3000 ’ (Vaidynathan, 1964). 2700-3300 (Subramanian, 1973) 2400-3000 (Radhakrishna, 1976), iv. Hyderabad Surface – at 1600’ – 2000’v. Coastal Surface – well developed east of the basin.vi. Fossil surface: The unconformity between the sediments of the Cuddapah basin and the granitic basement is similar to ‘Fossil Surface’.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126404790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to investigate groundwater aquifers and best location of boreholes in the crystalline basement area of Abu Zabad near El Obeid Southwest, Sudan. The study area is underlain by two aquifers formations from Precambrian age. The oldest units of basement complex of area under investigation consist of metamorphic rocks including gneiss, schist, and quartzite. The geophysical methods electromagnetic (EM) and vertical electrical sounding (VES) surveys showed that best aquifers yield for construction of boreholes are in weathering and fractures formation. The EM results revealed that structural features are significant for groundwater potential and interpretation of the VES data also revealed four geo-electric layers, but generally two distinct lithologic layers, which include Superficial deposit and bedrock-basement respectively. The curves generated from the data revealed H curve and HK curve, and thickness of these layers varies from 15 m to 50 m in the area. The aquifer thickness range from 20 m to 30 m. The study concludes that these techniques are suitable for identifying borehole location in the basement rock in Abu Zabad Area Sudan.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"313 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124441969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The complex is found to comprise of felsic rocks like; biotite-granites, biotite micro granites, hornblende and biotite granites. The complex is also found to be associated with mafic rocks like diorites which, at some portions have formed hybrid rocks. The geochemistry of sixteen (16) representative rock samples was carried out on the energy dispersive xray fluorescence (EDXRF) for twelve (12) major and thirty seven (37) trace and REE elements. Agpaitic index and alumina saturation index suggest that the rocks are peraluminous. The widely used SiO2 vs K2O classify most of the granite samples as high K rocks while the mafic diorites are calc-alkaline. Discrimination diagrams for tectonic interpretation of granitic rocks ((Na2+K2O)/CaO vs Zr+Nb+Ce+Y and Nb vs Y, suggest that all the samples are WPG, as well as A-type granites. The enrichment of high field strength (HFS) elements in the investigated granites confirms their A-type identity and exclude them from other granitic types. Spidergraph show negative Sr anomaly suggesting the feldspar fractionated nature of the granitoids where plagioclase played an important role in the evolution of the A-type magmatism. The magma that gave rise to the granitoids most likely came from the lithospheric mantle.The enrichment of Zr and Nb in the rocks indicate Nb-Sn-W mineralization. The northern part of the Complex contains Pb>15 which confirms that it are tin-bearing or productive granitoid suite.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133519928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, understanding the characteristics of landslides in this region is imperative in terms of landslide risk reduction.This geographical study is mainly concerned with identifying the nature and characteristics of different landslides occurred at different sites. Field investigation, interviews and secondary data sources, including maps were accommodated to obtain the necessary data for this study. 25 small and largescale landslides were analyzed for this purpose. The results revealed that, large-scale landslides are infrequent while small scale landslides are frequent phenomenon. The study area is exposed to different types of landslides such as rock slide/rock fall, earth slide, cutting failures, soil creep, and debris flow. In terms of spatial distribution, North-Western part is mostly exposed to risk from man-made cutting failures while few events have been recorded in the rest of the area. Debris flows were common in Southern and Eastern part which consists of more river channels. Cutting failures are high in frequency when compared with other types of naturally induced landslides. However, debris flows have brought intense impacts in terms of environment and socioeconomy. Therefore, this study concludes that having an obvious perceptive of spatial characteristics in landslides, the planning process should be carried out to minimize the risk of landslide hazard.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"293 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126016154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though the Kongo area in Northeastern Ghana is enriched with rocks that can be utilized for engineering activities, details of the qualities of the various distinctive granitic rocks still require further evaluation. This study focused mainly on the petrographic mapping of the area coupled with an examination of the geotechnical characteristics of these rocks to ascertain the suitable engineering applications of the rocks. Sixteen rock samples were collected from the area for petrographic analysis. These samples were then tested for density, abrasive resistance, and porosity. The Pycnometer and Los Angeles Abrasion test methods were adopted to respectively estimate rock density and abrasive resistance. Porosity was measured as a percentage of the ratio of the difference in the soaked and dry weight to the dry weight, whereas wearing percentage was estimated as the abrasive value. The identified granitoids included porphyritic granitoid, Tonalitic rocks, Muscovite-Biotite granitoid and quartz-plagioclase porphyry, as they were studied to be granodioritic in character rather than true granite. The study revealed that, the granitoids were well fractured with joints and faults. Some of the granitoids had low porosity and abrasion resistance, making them suitable for certain engineering works. However, these were restricted in quality by their low densities.","PeriodicalId":364345,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Geoinformatics and Geological Science","volume":"238 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114385464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
