However, the commonly used drive method, combining a conventional-speed induction motor with a reduction gearbox, results in increased system size, higher maintenance costs, and reduced reliability and operational efficiency. These limitations hinder its further development and broader application. As a result, direct-drive technology has emerged as the developmental trend and inevitable choice for low-speed high-torque transmission systems. The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is particularly well-suited for low-speed direct drive applications due to its straightforward design, exceptional reliability, high efficiency, and excellent power factor. Domestic and international literature on the development history and fundamental structural features of low-speed high-torque permanent magnet direct-drive motors (LHPMDMs) is reviewed. In-depth research has addressed several persistent issues in LHPMDMs, including large volume, insufficient torque stability, high production costs, air gap eccentricity, and demagnetization. To tackle these challenges, solutions are proposed through new topologies, novel processes, advanced cooling systems, parameter optimization techniques, and online detection technology. Furthermore, the practical application and promotion of LHPMDMs are summarized. Finally, based on the current state of research, unresolved challenges and potential future development directions for LHPMDMs are discussed prospectively.","PeriodicalId":36428,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering","volume":"12 1","pages":"216-239"},"PeriodicalIF":4.0,"publicationDate":"2026-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=11207112","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148519125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome this limitation, an impedance-informed dual-tank model for degradation analysis and capacity estimation is proposed. By integrating the experimentally obtained state-of-charge (SOC)-dependent impedance characteristics into the dual-tank framework, the model accurately captures the dynamic evolution of polarization and internal resistance during cycling. The identified parameters quantitatively characterize the degrees of loss of active material (LAM) and loss of lithium inventory (LLI), thereby enabling a quantitative interpretation of degradation mechanisms and accurate capacity estimation. Validated on ternary lithium-ion cells at various current rates, the results demonstrate that the proposed model maintains superior stability under diverse charge/discharge conditions, exhibiting high robustness and strong physical interpretability. This method provides a feasible approach for quantitative degradation analysis and state of health (SOH) estimation under complex conditions, demonstrating significant potential for integration into electric vehicle battery management systems.","PeriodicalId":36428,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering","volume":"12 1","pages":"144-158"},"PeriodicalIF":4.0,"publicationDate":"2026-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=11476954","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148519078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of practical and reliable detection methods for such defects is therefore crucial for enhancing overall battery safety and reliability. This paper presents a comprehensive mechanistic investigation aimed at identifying foreign-matter defects using insulation-detection techniques. Finite element modeling was employed to systematically investigate the influence of various types of foreign matter on the electric field distribution and insulation performance of the battery separator. The simulations demonstrated that metallic foreign matter causes localized electric field enhancement and may trigger dielectric breakdown under high-voltage conditions. Based on the simulation results and the corresponding mechanistic analysis, an innovative detection method utilizing high-potential testing protocols is proposed. This approach leverages the characteristic voltage changes associated with defect-induced short circuits for precise identification. Comparative evaluations show that the proposed method significantly outperforms conventional techniques, achieving a 41.7% higher detection rate for metallic foreign matter and exhibiting strong potential for real-time integration into manufacturing quality control systems.","PeriodicalId":36428,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering","volume":"12 1","pages":"159-170"},"PeriodicalIF":4.0,"publicationDate":"2026-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=11476955","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148519123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it faces considerable challenges owing to the uncertainty of operating conditions and limited computational power available on board. An efficient method is introduced for estimating the SOH of a battery under multi-dynamic operating conditions using a fused-model approach. First, this method is based on the electrochemical theory and a simplified electrochemical model is established to characterize the physicochemical reactions in the battery. Second, the areas of voltage and state of charge errors under different aging cycles are adopted as the aging features, whereas the model parameters remained constant. Integrating these features with those that responded to the dynamic operating conditions resulted in more stable fused features under multi-dynamic operating conditions. Finally, the multiple fused features are used as inputs to a support vector regression model, enabling precise SOH estimation under diverse dynamic operating conditions. Over the past decade, advancements in high-performance drives and power electronics have propelled the development of model predictive control (MPC) technology. Among the various approaches, finite-control-set MPC (FCS-MPC) has attracted significant interest for the control of permanent-magnet motors owing to its simple structure and fast response. Three key challenges in FCS-MPC are explored by leveraging recent research advancements: selecting appropriate weighting factors in the cost function, optimizing vector selection, minimizing computation time in multi-vector control, and improving system robustness under parameter mismatches. An image recognition approach based on a single-shot multibox detector (SSD) algorithm is proposed for detecting gas-liquid emissions within electrochemical energy storage compartments. An experimental platform is developed to simulate the actual operating conditions of lithium-ion battery storage units, and a dataset is constructed from the image data capturing gas-liquid emissions during the overcharging stage. To overcome the limitation of the original SSD algorithm, which features an excessively large model scale that restricts real-time detection, several modifications were implemented: the Visual Geometry Group (VGG) backbone is replaced with MobileNet-V3 to enhance computational efficiency; the squeeze-and-excitation (SE) attention module is substituted with the Coordinate Attention (CA) module to enhance feature extraction capabilities; and mean clustering optimization is applied to refine the default box scale sizes based on the dataset. The experimental results show that the improved SSD model achieves a 92.2% reduction in model size (from 91.9 MB to 7.2 MB), with a 1.54% increase in average accuracy (from 90.38% to 91.92%). Increasing the charging cut-off voltage enhances the energy density but is limited by the oxidative instability of conventional carbonate electrolytes at high voltages. To address this issue, we enhanced the electrochemical stability of carbonate-based electrolytes by incorporating a lithium salt, lithium difluorophosphate (LiPO<inf>2</inf>F<inf>2</inf>), with film-forming additives such as fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) and vinylene carbonate (VC). The additives synergistically form robust cathode electrolyte interface and solid electrolyte interphase layers, suppressing interfacial reactions and polarization to improve high-voltage performance. Benefiting from the synergistic interfacial regulation enabled by LiPO<inf>2</inf>F<inf>2</inf> and FEC/VC, Li||LiNi<inf>0.8</inf>Co<inf>0.1</inf>Mn<inf>0.1</inf>O<inf>2</inf> (NCM811) cells exhibited a 23.8% improvement in capacity retention after 300 cycles within a voltage range of 3 V-4.5 V. More importantly, under commercially relevant conditions using graphite (Gr) and NCM811 electrodes, the modified electrolyte enabled the Gr||NCM811 pouch cells to deliver a remarkable improvement of 73% in capacity retention after 200 cycles.
