Among designs with the low loss, Planar Goubau Line have been designed and fabricated on high resistivity silicon substrate. In this contribution, we discuss two kinds of Planar Goubau lines: rectangular cross section line for low loss transmission and corrugated line in order to slow down and confine the electromagnetic waves. Moreover, in this paper we present our low-loss waveguides and focus mainly on the influence of strip width and the length of the PGL on the S-parameters. The measured loss at 210 GHz is 2.5 dB. This value of loss could be tuned depending on certain parameters such as length, width of the rectangular cross section, the dimension of the coplanar waveguide transition or the thickness of the silicon substrate, etc. At the end of this communication, we show an example of the corrugated PGL that could be used first to confine and to slow down the electromagnetic propagation, and second to be a candidate for a filter application in the THz domain.","PeriodicalId":361750,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123027311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In that case, the coupling effect between antennas, which leads to output impedance mismatching and degradation of the radiation pattern, will be described. Alongside, two methods have been developed to address this major drawback with some experimental results to validate the theoretical approach. An active antenna prototype including power amplifiers has been manufactured to validate a first approach of active antenna joint simulation, taking into account all the mentioned effects.","PeriodicalId":361750,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127403810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD), Slope Diffraction (S-UTD) and Slope UTD with Convex Hull (S-UTD-CH) models are compared for computation time and propagation path loss. Moreover in this study, effects of transmitter height to relative path loss at the receiver are analyzed. Furthermore, contribution of S-UTD-CH model to UTD model increases in the transition zone. As a conclusion, S-UTD-CH model is optimum model with respect to computation time and relative path loss in transition zone.","PeriodicalId":361750,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122457478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The iterative decoding approach based on the well known Extended-Min-Sum (EMS) algorithm, considered as the most efficient decoding algorithm to decode NB-LDPC codes, executes the decoding process iteratively. The main operations of this algorithm are the variable and check node updates which are performed at least eight times requiring a long decoding time to achieve good performance in terms of Frame Error Rate (FER). The proposed decoding near ML approach is based on ML search where the number of candidates is highly reduced using a technique privileging the most reliable and nearest codewords. Then, a new decision making rule is proposed permitting to stop the ML search and select the decoded codeword. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves, at a reduced list of 5 searched candidates in average at 3 dB, the performance offered by the EMS algorithm. We also show that by slightly increasing the list of candidates, the proposed algorithm outperforms the EMS algorithm.","PeriodicalId":361750,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124570904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
