It has moved well beyond simple entertainment and now can profoundly affect many areas of functioning. Social media messages promote the ideal, attractive body images that affect the university student’s attitudes toward the body. The current study examined the relationship between social media and body image dissatisfaction and examined how social media impacts body image among university students. Sample size estimation was calculated from G*power and 462 students minimum required in the current study. This cross-sectional study recruited (N=500) respondents from different universities such as the University of Sahiwal, Government college university of Faisalabad Sahiwal campus, Virtual University of Sahiwal, University of Okara, Virtual University of Okara, University of Management and Technology, and the University of Lahore by employing simple random sampling. There were two questionnaires applied the social media questionnaire and Socio-Cultural Attitudes towards Appearance Scale-3 (SATAQ-3) for data collection. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 25.0 and results showed that there was a significant negative relationship of social media with body image dissatisfaction. Moreover, male students were higher users of social media as compared to female students as well as higher body image dissatisfaction as compared to girls. Hence, the study was done to identify behavioral problems in school and madrassa students. A random sampling technique was used for data collection. The sample was comprised of 140 participants, ranging from 14 to 17 years of age, including 70 girls and 70 boys. Child behavior checklist (CBCL), interpersonal reactivity index (IRI) and cognitive emotion regulation scale (CERS) were used for the data collection. Different statistical analyses were conducted to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that the students going to madrassa (M=65.64, SD=31.69) have more behavioral problems as compared to students going to school (M=22.47, SD=6.94). Moreover, the behavioral problems were found more in boys (M=56.88, SD=39.38) as compared to the girls (M=31.10, SD=10.63). Furthermore, Regression analysis showed that behavioral problems was significantly predicted by empathy (β=-.61, p<.01) and emotion regulation (β=.72, p<.01). The present study will be helpful for the parents, educational administration and counselor to identify and manage behavioral problems in students seeking education.","PeriodicalId":361427,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan Journal of Applied Psychology","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129775332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the purpose a cross-sectional research design was conducted in which 187 female athletes were recruited from three public sector universities of Punjab purposefully. The sample was justified through a-priori sample size calculator for Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The perceived stress, flow state and mental toughness were measured by Perceived Stress Scale-PSS, Flow Short Scale- FSS and Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire-SMTQ respectively. Resultantly, the partial least square-structural equation modeling showed greater levels of perceived stress associated with lower levels of flow state and greater levels of sports mental toughness associated with greater levels of flow state in female athletes. Importantly, the results of the mediation analysis showed that mental toughness partially mediated the relationship between perceived stress and flow state among the female university athletes. The study findings shed light on the fact the experiences of flow during physical activities needs to be monitored to reduce the stress perceived by female athletes, whereas this also showed an important finding that female athletes with greater mental toughness does experience better flow during their sports related activities.","PeriodicalId":361427,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan Journal of Applied Psychology","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128569849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Purposive sampling technique was used and sample comprised of 80 participants with the distribution of 40 males and 40 female spouses of OCD patients. The age range of spouses of OCD patients was 20 to 40 years (M=1.50, SD= .50). Self-compassion scaleshort form (Raes, Pommier, Neff & Van Gucht, 2011), frustration discomfort scale (Harrington, 2005) and obsessive compulsive inventory-revised (Foa, 2002) were administered on the participants. The findings of the current study uncovered that self-compassion had a significant negative relationship with frustration intolerance (r= -.80**, p<.01) and with obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms (r=-.77**, p<.01). Findings also revealed that frustration intolerance had a significant positive relationship with obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms (r=.98**, p<.01). The results revealed that dark triad personality traits including all subscales; machiavellianism, narcissism & psychopathy, was significantly positively correlated with Attitude toward infidelity. Dark triad personality traits were also found to be a significant predictor of attitude towards infidelity. Implications of the study along with its limitations were discussed and recommendations for future research have been suggested. Due to logistical limitations, this research was performed on a relatively small sample. Eight adult Shia Muslims (age range 25-30) graduates were taken purposefully. Focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted and sessions were audio/videotaped. Before the FGD sessions protocol was established to conduct FGD. Three questions were asked from the respondents which are, how religious symbols are important for them? How do these symbols motivate them? What is the role of the symbols in mental well-being? The answers were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis with the help of Nvivo12. The findings of this study have that religious symbols are of high importance in the lives of people as people distinguish themselves from these and have a high emotional attachment to religious symbols and are important for the Shia adult's mental well-being.","PeriodicalId":361427,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan Journal of Applied Psychology","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129610098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
